EASY FIX for Spongy Motorcycle Brakes. Air trapped in the brakes?

  • A spongy brake lever, or a brake lever which has to be pulled a long way before you feel the brake start to work, is a sure sign of air trapped in the brake system. Some brakes can be more troublesome to bleed than others.

So there is an engineering tech behind this magic trick.
By this trick you were compressing the brake fluid inside the whole braking mechanism such as brake lines, master cylinder, and caliper. Since, fluid is not compressible, the air inside them will get compressed. As a result, they(air) will try to escape out from those whole compressed area. So therefore the air will be escaped through very very tiny gaps in the places like brake caliper and the master cylinder etc. So that is why it need a whole long night.
    Brilliant idea.
    Really an amazing magic trick.
    Very informative too.
Thumb up👍 vikas bro for this video.

Does the air escape even tho the cylinder is closed?

    • @aviezek3072

Master cyl has rubber seal. If the air escapes thru the master...so wouldnt there be faulty in the master cyl or the rubber seal?

I bled my brakes on my 04 R1 last night and could not get the air out of the front brakes. I saw your video and tried your trick. I actually checked them after about 12 hours as suggested and could already notice a huge difference. So i retied the lever and left while i was at work and came back and they are perfect! Thanks for this!

I've been watching your videos for a long time. But the thing is you put so much effort making the videos and we learn so many things which we would never knew if it wasn't for you. But I feel so broken after knowing that you only have about 110k subscribers. And when you say that people not subscribed are missing out about 600+ videos and all makes me sad. Well sir keep doing the magic that you always do, keep making awesome videos and never give up🤗.

    Thank you that is brilliant!!
This worked on my ktm 640e after a years hibernation.
The front brake felt like a clutch!!
I left the bandage on the lever for 48 hours.
Absolutely amazed at the result! The brake is now as good as it was before!
Saved me loads of time against bleeding the brakes
    Thanks again

It works! I did this on my KTM dirt bike. I had a soft front brake lever feel. About to go ride the next morning and needed something fast. I used a zip tie and left it on the brake lever over night. I would say 95% better 👍🏻👍🏻

Bro my fz v3 has spongy front brake. I changed the master kit and still facing the issue. It happens when I leave the bike without touching for 2-3 days. It is loosing pressure. I checked the brake oil and each time when I check, if I try to bleed the oil from front brake caliper, small air bubbles will come and after that brake will become normal. Could you please tell me from where the air is getting entered if you are aware?
