    Why does the flower only take red(complete dominance) when the genotype takes red capital R and blue capital R (RR)? is it possible to be a blue flower to that stage?

    Hi. I have a question about sickle cell trait. Many sources seem to classify it as incomplete dominance. However, the heterozygous tends to express both normal and sickle cell trait, not a trait that is a mixture of both. So I wonder if it is really classified as codominance or incomplete dominance. Thanks :)

    I’m confused a bit....
    In the incomplete dominance
    Shouldn’t it be that the dominant allele won’t be fully dominant over the recessive allele so some traces of the recessive allele can be found

    Would you use the same letter for different variations with incomplete and complete dominance. Most examples would use an R for Red and a B for B. They would not use different colors to indicate difference.

    Your incomplete dominance is wrong, as indicated by other comments. Look up the definition in any textbook

    • @GothicElf68
      @GothicElf68 8 років тому

      According to my textbook, incomplete dominance occurs when a heterozygote is intermediate between the two homozygotes. In my textbook, it gives the example of a person with straight hair who has children with someone who has curly hair, in which it states the children will all have wavy hair. In his example, he used red flowers and blue flowers. His stating that in the specific case of incomplete dominance, a red flower and a blue flower would produce a purple flower seems to be correct.

    incomplete dominance doesn't make sense.

    • @GothicElf68
      @GothicElf68 8 років тому +1

      When there is incomplete dominance, neither allele (the part of the chromosome that controls the trait) is dominant. What happens instead, that they blend together to create a new allele. For example, in humans, both straight hair and curly hair have dominant alleles. When a person with straight hair and a person with curly hair make a baby, the baby will not have straight hair, nor curly hair. They will have a blend of both, which is wavy hair. Not sure if this helps you now, but, there you go.
