He hits better when he’s more down in the order, plus it lengthens the lineup tremendously. If I remember correctly, shildt tried to move him up into the top 3 n slumped

I think Fernando Valenzuela had a greater impact than Skenes did. Skenes is amazing and it just sucks he plays for a organization that will not support him like they should.
Yep. I can hear the naysayers now "but Skenes has a lower ERA" so what? Fernando not only won rookie of the year but also the Cy Young AND a world series. Oh and a silver slugger to boot.

@@ttbr7687 Merrill has played 151 games of 156 games batting 292 with 24 hrs and 89 rbi and he wasnt even a center fielder(shortstop) .. ever ...and now he is playing gold glove baseball in center field he has definitely had a larger impact on the team winning then Skenes has had with his team
@@surrealkiller7828 Skenes is sub 2 ERA with an 11-3 record with one of the worst teams in baseball, he has better stats than both Cy Young winners this season...Merrill is a good player on a good team, Skenes is a generational superstar winning with scrubs for run support.
I think with Paul Skenes getting his era under 2 I think he has to win the roty. I don't care about the amount that's pitched bullshit, he's started 22 games. Merril is a good player but he isn't the best hitter in the game right now.

Jackson Merrill has been a bigger asset to his team than Skenes, a pitcher, ever could be. Merrill gets to impact every game. Skenes doesn't.
this rookie of the year race isn't as close as people make it sound. an .800 ops vs a sub 2 era should be an easy choice
It’s an easy choice for Merrill. He’s had a better second half than anyone not named Ohtani. Nobody cares about pitchers when comparing to position players and they aren’t going to start caring now.

Jackson Merrill can settle for second....Skenes pitched most of the season and had a 1.99 ERA. If the Pirates scored a few runs in a couple of his starts he would have been like 14-1. Merrill had a great season but there are a ton of outfielders who had that kind of season their rookie year
