I have this machine and love it have only ever used it with liquid laundry detergent. I cleaned a carpet that had never being cleaned (20 years) before to the point that the entire depth of the carpet pile was filled with rock hard black deposit that was a combination of spilt cola, food, pet mess, dropped food. It had only ever had dropped food picked up, liquids had only ever had a towel drying then left to air dry. Was able to remove it all saving the carpet with this, a one litre pump spray bottle and a drill upholstery brush
So its OK if we just use regular liquid detergent we use for our clothes washing machines mixed into the water tank reservoir instead of the "Official" (and expensive) Rug Doctor liquid detergent?
Looks great! It would be more versatile if there was a long handle attachment or accessory for people with arthritis/elderly people who perhaps can't kneel for any length of time. Great demonstration video.
👏 first of all thank you for that person who sent you The rug Doctor allowing you to do this in-depth demonstration. And thank you for doing such a thorough unboxing and demo. I love that your carpet appears to be spotless. 🤗
I ve bought this product and just watched your video .i have already read the instructions but not used it yet , I’m going to run your vid through one more time before I try it out . Thank you so much for the demo ,it’s looks and seems to work well . I’ll post another short comment after I’ve tried it out .
A very good review thank you, I've just ordered one from Argos at £130 to be delivered tomorrow - one needs some excitement during lockdown! The initial review of it by Which? suggested it was good and all the Argos reviews are very positive. The Which? reviews of carpet cleaners in general seem to suggest that they are all no good at removing stains but this one looks like it'll do that job very well, which is what I need. I'm hoping it'll do a good job on my new car that was previously owned by a dog owner and the headlining in the boot area is horrible! Also need it for stains my cat leaves on the carpet when he eats his tea a bit too fast! Why not let us see your face at some point in the video - would make it seem a bit more personal!
@@TA-yz7ut I'm very happy with it - it did a good job on my car's headlining and it's good for small carpet stains. No good for large areas but then I don't think anyone would expect it to be.
@@murmansk69 Thanks for the response, really appreciate it. I think I’ll get the Bissell spotclean pro instead, as I’ve heard constant good reviews about it.
I purchased my cleaner from cost co two years ago for £90 and it has been faultless. It is an amazing machine, however the hose is a little too short and is a little flimsy. Another great video
It's not a bad little machine, looks much better than my Hoover spot cleaner. It's certainly bigger than I'd expect for a portable but not too bad having the pull out handle to help. Another great video.
Regarding the negative comment about unboxing. Unboxing videos are great a couple of reasons. 1. When you buy any type of item they are great to make doubly sure you have the correct amount of items or accessories. 2. To see if your new item was indeed factory sealed brand new and not some return or demo etc. In fact the reason why I was searching online for these videos is my new Rug Doctor just arrived and noticed there were some very tiny dried water spots where the water containers go. And as the channel owner ibaisaic mentioned at 14:07 of the video I or we find they test it at the factory and hence another reason why these unboxing and or review demos are great. Thanks for the video ibaisaic!
When it comes to carpet cleaners, my favorite is Regina, it used to be a company here in the USA, bought out by Oriek, but Regina had very good broom vacs and carpet cleaners
It appears to be a robust machine and in your quick demo, it performed well. As for the comment from one of your subscribers who doesn't like unboxing videos, well surely the simple answer is not to watch them. I like many others enjoy the unboxing videos, so please continue making them Roger.
It seems fairy robust at this early stage, though I feel the hose could be better. I will be doing a stand alone demo of this machine in a while which will include the mats from the car as they look quite grubby. I continue to run my channel as I choose which will of course include many more unboxings, but I do plan to increase the number of demo videos when I have some things sorted at home.
Be extremely careful with the brush. If it falls and develops any form of cracks. It no longer has suction pressure. I learnt the hard way and had to replace the brush recently.
Absolutely loved this review/demonstration. I am looking into something for curtains, blinds and furniture. Just for freshening up a bit. Seem to be the perfect for the job.
It took 3 of these machines to get one that actually worked! I could not get the water to spray, On the box it says don’t take back to the shop ring us, so I did. What did they say? Take it back to the shop! I have to say customer service was useless. I was advised by customer service to give the machine a good thump on the back , I did - it still didn’t work. I was so frustrated when my third machine didn’t work I thumped it really hard and hey presto it now works. Not sure what that tells me? It will be really interesting to know if anyone else has had the same problem. Theses machines I am told are thoroughly tested before they leave the factory - I think not.
just today I purchased a full size rug doctor cleaner and it works wonders I am convinced that stacked up against my bissell it will preform much better you should think of purchasing one to use regularly it looks the same as you little rug doctor but it is full size
Hi, did you happen to find out if there’s an easy way to remove the clear cover on the brush head ? I have one of these and it’s the first thing I noticed about a possible design flaw, I can’t get it off to clean out all the fluff !!!
It is not removable but a thin metal nail file from a travel manicure set will fit up and allow you to push the fluff up for suction to get rid off it along with a paint roller tray of warm water to flush it through
WOW. I have the commercial grade Rug Doctor and like it. The idea of having a Rug Doctor spot cleaner is a really good idea. Does this have more suction then the Bissell Pro heat upright? Another great video Roger.
I know I'm 3 years late but there is a comparison video showing the power of the top five spot cleaners. The rug Doctor had 10 amps versus the rest of them having about 3.5 amps.
Keep a mop and bucket handy for when water goes everywhere also towels on hand to soak up water! We prefer the Rug Doctor full sized version. The water spray jet gets blocked easily, clean it with a needle but be ready for water shooting out! It’s best to get it working outside before making a mess indoors! We found the demo video slow!
One of the reasons that I have area rugs. I tried renting one in 1984. I had a heck of a time handling it. I told my mom that from then on we call the guys.
I found the rug doctor rentals to be a pain to use. You can only pull back and they are heavy. Plus, who wants to clean their carpet with something that was used by someone else and then returned to the store without being properly cleaned?
I have a Hoover for upstairs now and use Duo P downstairs on the area rugs with the Daisy applicator tool from Sebo. This looks great for cars but I have a Bissell Green Machine for that. Isn't the first world in the twenty first century glorious? 😂😂😂
It's a rental, like all rental equipment you need to inspect it yourself before renting it so you don't rent a broken machine. Also the machine will get dirty again anyway the moment you use it. It doesn't put dirty water onto your carpet. No rental tools are ever inspected after use, only at certain duration of time they might be given a tune up. I rented a UHAUL pickup truck once, and luckily I remembered the articles I read online about UHAUL first. I checked the engine fluids before even leaving the parking space, and good thing I did. The oil in it was very low and the gas tank was only 1/4th full. Imagine the oil running out on me when I was using it, I'd have been in a world of hell if the engine locked up.
I had one of these a couple years ago, I got it for cleaning my car mats (carpeted). Overall it did an good job and I liked the smell of the solution. But it started to blow dirty water out of the motor onto my carpet. The dirty water tank is super small. And the buoy is ineffective...
Pre treat any old stains first using the solution or a special pre treatment spray and leave for 10 minutes before using the machine. Leave to dry and if the stain is still there, repeat the application. Don’t overwet the surface you are cleaning.
I have the portable Rug Doctor and it quit spraying. I took apart the handle, the part that has the sprayer and suction, do determine the cause. Part of the sprayer “spray tip assembly”, on the inside of the handle, was broken in half. I ordered the part which is going to take nearly a week to be shipped. Can we get replacements for the brush part which vibrates and agitates against the carpet?..I can imagine the bristles would get worn short quite quickly with all the friction it gets from scrubbing againts the carpet pile.
After using just 2 tanks of solution I realised room is full of water mist. At first I got scared it was smoke but it didn’t smell. Am I doing something wrong? Is this normal?

Both brands are not known for reliability, I would include Bissell in that. You specified reliability and so I can’t recommend a spot cleaner that will last for longer than a maximum of two years if used on a regular basis.

Not the model I have but I'm sure it does the job. The one I have I have been slowly trying to clean my basement carpet with. That carpet is 40 years old and has likely never been cleaned as my family never owned a shampooer until 1999 and it broke a year or 2 later from careless family members. So this shampooer I have to make several treatments with on the same area because it's so terribly filthy, the water comes up looking the color of sewage, just so gross. I want to try and see if a commercial rental Rug Doctor will do it faster and more efficiently, but it's $1 an hour for 24 hours so I need to make sure I have as much stuff moved as possible.
Yes, I have used this and similar machine for picking up pet urine. After cleaning I also spray the carpet with a urine remover such as the one Rug Dictor produces.
ibaisaic ah thank you Robert sp much. Would you say this one is better than the Bissell spot clean? Kind of whittled it down to these two so thought I'd get your expert opinion before picking one 👍
and to the haters, Roger works with what he has, he works in retail, have you? Think $$$$$ just flows in? If I were him, i'd start a fund raising page, not just a wish list on Amazon!
this is what I found in the comments of another video: From: Rug Doctor LLC Hello! The plastic is not removable from the head of the wand. Try using a pipe cleaner to remove any debris in the plastic. You may also fill a sink with hot tap water mixed with white vinegar and place the nozzle in the sink then pull the spray trigger to flush it out further. Happy cleaning!
ball point ink? My young puppy chewed a pen (many years ago) on a light beige carpet, my mum was ready to kill me. Resolve just came on the market, well, after a bottle and allot of blotting, it all came out, and that was after 8 hours and not having spot cleaning machines (let alone carpet cleaners that we could own). Have always since then had a Bissell spot cleaner. Its ok, but, would it be worth letting go of my Bissell spot and hoover whole house?
You are supposed to use Rug Doctor solutions as using others could invalidate the warranty. However, if you choose to use other solutions, they must be of the low foaming type and suitable for carpet washers.
Concrete K-9 I tried it on the car seats and it did ok. Didn't do as good as I thought it would. Mainly because the seats in the car had to many curves and what not. It did a magnificent job on the dining table cushions and the stairway.
Yes, but generally memory foam mattresses should not be wet cleaned. If you clean a standard mattress, don’t overwet it and make sure it’s dry before putting the bedding back on. Probably best to clean a mattress first thing in the morning if you intend to sleep on it that night.
Everybody had a different level of cleanliness and some are worse than others not all people sanitize the rds when they are done and the store that keeps them isn’t obligated to clean them either

I haven’t used a Karcher Puzzi, but no its not.
What is the best machine I can buy for under £350 for medium sized house carpet cleaning?
Bissel ProHeat Pet, doesn't matter if you have pets or not, it does a great job. not sure what the UK equal would be.
www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/home-appliances/floorcare/surface-cleaners/bissell-advanced-proheat-pet-2009e-upright-carpet-cleaner-titanium-teal-10152734-pdt.html
This one?
Anyone knows why this machine not sucking at all ?
Nice, how can I get the rug doctor am in nigeria
😂 😂 😂
Hello is this good for pet urine accidents?
Thank you
Yes, I have used this and similar machine for picking up pet urine.
The hose on the Bissell Spot Clean has split so I am not very happy with that machine now.
and to the haters, Roger works with what he has, he works in retail, have you? Think $$$$$ just flows in? If I were him, i'd start a fund raising page, not just a wish list on Amazon!
Does the front of the nozzle come off
I also would like to know if the clear part of the front of the nozzle comes off?
this is what I found in the comments of another video:
From: Rug Doctor LLC
Hello!
Can you use any carpet cleaning solution?
You are supposed to use Rug Doctor solutions as using others could invalidate the warranty. However, if you choose to use other solutions, they must be of the low foaming type and suitable for carpet washers.
Should this work well on car seats? (Non leather)
Concrete K-9 I tried it on the car seats and it did ok. Didn't do as good as I thought it would. Mainly because the seats in the car had to many curves and what not. It did a magnificent job on the dining table cushions and the stairway.
N A Ok, thanks for letting me know!
Can I use it on dogs?
It’s not designed for use on animals. The Bissell Bark Bath is however.
Can I use this on a leather sofa?
I wouldn’t use this on a leather sofa. You can buy specialist leather cleaners for that.
Spotbot better just sit it down
Walk away , beeps when dons . Not all this hose business .
What is the model #? I am interesting on this one!
Either amazon or eBay search rug dr spot cleaner they only have the one modey
George or this which is best
George is better as it can do more things, but this Rug Doctor is handy for quick spillages.
Would this be any good for cleaning mattresses?
Yes, but generally memory foam mattresses should not be wet cleaned. If you clean a standard mattress, don’t overwet it and make sure it’s dry before putting the bedding back on. Probably best to clean a mattress first thing in the morning if you intend to sleep on it that night.
You would be better using a steam cleaner type. They kill everything, including bed bugs from what I've read. Steam is the best sterilization!!
Se le puede poner en el depocito agua caliente con el químico?
Alguien que sepa español y me conteste por favor 🙏
Las instituciones dice que : se le echa el líquido y después se agrega agua caliente.
This or bissell spot clean? Which one is better?
Blizzard Maximumgaming Rug Doctor
Hard to say since Rug Doctor sent me two broken machines in a row. Went with the Bissell and it's been awesome.
Like a Vacuum cleaner
The hose is short and annoying at times.
Do you need Rent The Rug Doctor?
I don't think he wants something that was used on someone else's dirty carpet in his home.
Why?
Everybody had a different level of cleanliness and some are worse than others not all people sanitize the rds when they are done and the store that keeps them isn’t obligated to clean them either
