Thanx for the effort man, this explains alot and saves us alot of frustration and time, keep up the good work!
I enter the Triple Trout comp a lot, using this set-up (probably got it from you or KP Shamino) in fact there's one happening in a few hours.
And I like it, do okay in it, not top ten, but decent enough to satisfy me.
But I only own one Spod reel.
I'd hate to risk it going max drag. Kinda makes me wary of entering this comp again.
It is what it is though.
Thanks for the video Dave, always informative👍
Haha man this video was amazing. You never fail to amaze me brother thanks for informing us!
Thanks Dave, great information
Thanks Dave, This helps out a lot 😊
I appreciate your hard work. On the old max drag, I always 'notched' down, 1 stop. Reasoning being the initial shock on the fish strike. I also like to notch up if I needed that little extra after reading the fish. IMO, I would really notch down when using X series or Golem for fear of losing. So, test with lures you can replace. I plan to pack an extra Griffon 9000 to swap out a 'cooked' reel. They are going to 'burn' a lot of reels in those comps.
Also fished today, Alaska Battle (Chinook) and Blue Crab (Tarp) and just notched down from max drag on Giant spin and Bailarina. They seemed to do fine. So, I guess if you can't 'reel up' then 'notch down'. lol
Soopa is the man
shout out to dave for sacrificing an x series lure just to show us this video, thanks dave
can you try catching uni steel head at san joaquin with zeus + griffon spod? last time i catch uni steelhead it got stuck on rock with that set up, is it a bug or commonly happen before? thanks
Merci
Hey Dave, it seems they fixed the "comp setup". When I try to do exactly the same on steam. Zeus 8'10'' + Spod 10000 + Braid .009'' -> Line breaks after 10s. Then there is no reason to use a bigger reel anymore, is there?
That isn't a "comp setup" that I'm talking about in the video. that reel is too big to max drag on a Zeus. The line would be to light and pop right away. Think you need to watch video and see what I'm talking about. I used a smaller reel with bigger line.
Thnx
"fish too strong upgrade your gear".. so to catch the muskie golem players will have to use what 35 pound+ lure setups?
I just tried this on my the same rig you have. You can load a leviathan 10K minus 3 from max drag and you have a balanced set up that feels like it did before? Just my observation.
Yeah agreed it can feel like before, but that is why this new way is crazy, because it is faster and they cant fight back.
Also just tried the Thetis 8’2” with 57 pound braid and a Leviathan 10 down one from max drag works really well. 😁@@SoopaDaveGaming
dave,i was at congo at this goliath catfish hotspot,i always go there, but lately including today ,i bobber fish for them,i counted 5 times in a row i saw fish swim away from my bait ,after i get bite alert, it was at high peak, something is wrong,i always get a mess of fish there during high peak time.
Always love your videos mate , but I’ve locked up my reels in real life from 10lb to 100lb and I have never broken a reel befor let alone a rod , the only reason you do that is because a bigger fish then your target species has taken your lure and your trying to stop it from spooling you,,, reels don’t break and rods don’t break and your fishing line is always heavy compared to the max lb drag of your reel so your line wont break until you are spooled , I’ve had sharks take 700mtrs of line and spool me and my reel has never broken , so where everyone gets this idea that this is realistic is beyond me … thanks for your videos and look forward to more of them
That is not what is said is realistic.(2:33 of Video) What I said was realistic that max drag functions correctly because it doesnt allow line out now. And also when all 3 components are equal the line IS breaking everytime which is realistic(exactly what you said as well). The rod was taking the 2nd amount of most damage instead of reel which again is realistic. Those new changes are more realistic. I never said the damage over time to the reel was realistic. Also in real life people do break rod tips off on too big of fish it just isn't as common as line popping.
I don’t believe that max drag even exist/work for mobile players
I can hear people crying when they see you literally throw x series lures away. 😂
I was wondering can anyone help me I'm on playstation since the update when I hook a fish the line pulls out then it will let me reel it in is it to do with my set up or is it the update thanks
@@SoopaDaveGaming my bottom setup I have my is 72.7lb and my reel is 70.5lb my line braid 69.5lb leader 65.5lb dosent matter what setup I use the line gets pulled out then i can start feeling it in
The fp said this is exploit on Discord. If you use it in comps or the Tournament, you will be banned.
I have a hard time believing this... Couldnt find anything on discord and they allowed it for 4 years previously...
@@SoopaDaveGaming It's on Discord(Fishing Planet:Official). And the earliest contention about this can go back to the 18th in #feedback and the thread below named Tournament results. But some have been deleted. She said we shouldn't catch heavy fishes with light gear, or you will be banned. Now we are waiting for her clear definition of "light gear".
@@SoopaDaveGaming And I do have friends got banned after comps using max drag gear
8:36 this is where he starts to talk to about everyday fishing setup.
The rest of the video is 4 competitive tournament anglers that kill multiple reels per competition for saving 30sec on landing a fish.
