In reality that's why it's best to pull a Charlie clips type of combo in any rap battle scenario just in case you are not that rhythmic and good at free styling, you can actually have some pre written with some automatic lines that can seem off the top in any moment against any opponent (that are secretly pre prepared) like young em used to do or for example Charlie clips writes in a fill in the blank style preemptively which tricks the audience every time to thinking he's a freestyle goat. He'll write like "up all night spinning the blocks, uppin the score points on the board, I'm bone but this clown rockin these fake azzzz _______. So to the audience they already expect Jordan's to come next and never connect the dots that charlie already pre wrote to seem prepared for random moments. It's a style of flow that could be done against any person at will no matter the comp because you don't even really need to see them for it to land and get strong crowd reaction. Lol That's why ppl think he doesn't write anything. It's actually brilliant low-key. Back in mecs era, many dudes thought truly fully freestyling in the moment about everything was the only way to battle and be respected until the comp evolved and realized the secret craft. When I was in highschool I used to dabble with battle rap wayyy back in the day so I see the nuances like someone who isn't rhythmic trying to do everything off the dome, and offbeat. I even knew a few Brothas who had bars on bars but could never spit with a rhythm and then some Brothas also lose because their actual tone of voice has no authority to deliver a strong presence behind the bars. That was another one of mecs flaws too. It all counts. My voice used to have hard time landing strong as well until years later when ironically stopped actively flowing lol so I get it. Life is a trip.
