Who else yelled at their screen when Becky dumped her hot sugar in the garbage? I love how real you are and how you show us your mistakes. Others would have cut that out and never shown us the mistakes. Love your awesomeness!
Oh, me too!! then I started laughing uncontrollably 😂Becky you make my day!!🎉
😂😂 I did! Lol
I audibly gasped 🤣
I did. I yelled out what are you doing?
🙋🏽♀️
Becky, I was a professional Baker for many years and if you take the parchment paper and crinkle it up into a tight ball then smooth it out, it will fit any pan you wish without fighting you to straighten out.❤️
Great idea👍
Happy Valentines to you two Sweet hearts.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💓❤️🔥💞😘
Thanks for the tip!
I was going to say the same thing, works so good!!
I’ve never herd of that! Definitely going to try it, thanks for sharing!
"It's not a failure... it's a learning opportunity." Thanks for the sweet reminder Becky.
Hi, Becky, you know what, we have honeycomb candy in Taiwan! In my grandma' time, there was scarce of food supplies. Sugar was treasure at that time. People will put a tea spoon of sugar in a serving spoon. When the bubbles come out, then put a pinch of baking soda and let it cool, just like honeycomb! It was fun and satisfied for the kids in the old day! However, it's hard to find it now in Taiwan!
One of my favorite things about you is you don’t hide your mistakes (we all make them). I’m glad you don’t try to be one of those fake people that only present the perfect version of yourself or your projects. We all learn as we go, nothing goes perfectly every time for any of us. 😊
And it makes us all love you more ❣️❤
@@robinashultz7662 yes it does .
Becky, thanks for keeping the section about pouring the burnt candy into the plastic garbage container. When I watched that, I chuckled and said to myself....that is something I would do.❤
I don’t know if I ever mentioned but last year my grandson who was 4 at the time and I watched the Valentine treat episode. Ever since that day you have been the marshmallow lady. He has watched it over and over again. Can’t wait to show him this episode. Safe travels on your deliveries. ❤❤❤
Happy Valentine Day ❤. I look forward to each video. Have a wonderful say
The realness in this video, so appreciated. Makes you more human to the rest of us. All the mixer messes and then the burnt sugar and garbage can. God bless you for being real!
I made candy a lot with my mom growing up in the 90's. She taught me the old fashioned way with a cold cup of water and testing the candy with soft ball/hard crack, etc. I'd watch cooking shows and wish so hard we had a candy thermometer. When I was setting up my own kitchen I got a candy thermometer and was so happy.... except I never use it...I found I prefer the old fashioned way to a candy thermometer 😅
Yeah me too and I helped mom in the 60s and the 70s two candies and cookies😃😂😂
Hi Becky, you are so awesome! I really enjoy watching all your cooking programs. I luv how you work your garden, freeze dry, & can your home grown stuff!
Thanks for being the real person I know you are. Lots of people would edit their mistakes. But you make it real! Like everyday living in true life.
I also enjoy the way you cook & Bake. Keep doing a Great Job! I really enjoy watching your channel..
Me too.... the best divinity in the world!
I have my mum's thermometer🥰 my son keeps punching it to make stock syrup for cocktails 🤣
What a lovely share! Thanks.
I love the fact that you're always real with us. If you're not making mistakes in the kitchen some times, are you really cooking? 🤔 Your love language is what you create/prepare with your hands and out of your kitchen. We can easily buy, but love shown by time spent and the works of your hand speaks volumes! Like remembering your postal workers, the crew that's building your garden in the cold, a sick friend or family member that's unable to prepare a meal for their family. Even down to sharing your bounty from your garden! That's some of the many reasons I can't stop watching you! Also, It's educational!😄❤
Thank you Becky for your being so real in the kitchen we are learning through your mistakes 😉 sometimes I get nervous for you, lol! Love your energy and recipes!
When you were using that wooden spatula to mix and scrape out the first dessert I was screaming use a silicone one and get everything out of that bowl 😂 I hate wasting stuff in bowls when it just needs the right spatial to scrape it out
Dear Becky, thank you for teaching me so much about healthy coping with failures. Your life outlook has helped me a lot with my perfectionism. You bring joy and happiness to me. Love, Heather
I have a little tip for you to easily line a container with parchment paper. Dampen the paper a bit and scrunch it up. Then you can easily put it in your container and it will stay in place. I love watching your videos.
Great idea! Thank you. Happy cooking and baking, Debbie Lavigne
She done this in a earlier video when she done the pumpkin roll!
Or just scrunch it up a bit. I never dampen mine because some foods I use it for would absorb the dampness and lose their crunch.
I made candy with my mom when I was a kid,
this really reminded me of that fun time. If you use jelly beans in the nougat for Easter, that would be cute!
I admire how you always turn kitchen oops into a positive and are not afraid to share them. Being a recent widow I like the idea of making treats for everyone you love and not just romantic love. Definitely will be trying these recipes.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband. ❤️
Thank you that is very kind of you.
My mom rarely eats sweets, the only candy I have ever seen her eat is Peppermint Patties and Junior Mints. So please trust me when I say that her homemade version she made when I was growing up were DELICIOUS-and made with mashed potatoes!!! I need to ask her if she still has the recipe, because I need to try them as an adult to see if they were as tasty as I remember. If not, I’ll be trying your recipe.😂
I absolutely LOVE your honesty.... That pause where you burned through your trash bag and can had me cracking up at work. Made my day, you're AWESOME!
I truly appreciate that you leave your mistakes/fails in your videos. They definitely happen regularly in real life! Lol. Thank you for always being real!! 😊
One of the things I love about your channel Becky, is that you don't cut out the mistakes and messes, you show us the real deal. Your Valentine treat boxes look so yummy! Happy Valentine's Day!! ❤❤❤
Each time I watch one of your videos, my husband shouts "Beckyyyyy" from across the room. We will be celebrating 42 years this valentines day. Still love this guy!
I have made a deal with MY teenager daugters tommorow. We are going to make ALL these candies, and pack Them in cute boxes, like yours. And then we are going to LOVEBOMB, some family and friends. Thanks for y’et another video,. I crave Acer homestead videoes, more than I crave anything else
Becky, when I’m mixing flour in my kitchen aid I always take a tea towel and drape over the top of the mixer and bowl for the first few seconds of mixing and that helps keep me from making a mess with the flour.
I wish that I would remember this. Every time I forget. I tend to push the flour in the mixture with a spatula, but never enough. 🤣
I wish we could see the reactions of the friends and family. I imagine they would be absolutely delighted ! Its so lovely how excited Becky is at sharing the sweets
I used to make the "Honeycomb " candy . I live in the UP of Michigan. It's called Angel Food candy here. I googled it and it is also called Fairy Food !!! Love watching you, you're "REAL" Happy Valentine's Day to you and your Family !
This is why I love watching you. You are so real! You don't edit out you mistakes.❤
So glad you didn't let the burnt sugar get you down! That's so relatable, I made a pecan pie cheese cake for New Years Eve and burnt the sugar the first time and it tasted horrible!!!! I luckily had enough ingredients to retry with success! 🤣
Your honeycomb sent me down memory lane. When I was a girl ( 50+ yrs ago) my mom and I would go to the mall and I would go to Sears candy counter to get honeycomb. Yours looked as good as I remembered. Thank you for the sweet trip.
I remember those trips to the Sears candy counter...I always chose seafood too!
You could always add just a bit of red food coloring to your peppermint patty filling for valentine's day. or green for st. paddy's day. etc, etc...
In my part of Canada (prairies) we call honey comb “Sponge Toffee”. It’s a classic treat found at most historic sites and museum gift shops!
I've never had it so I don't know what the texture is like. Is it like peanut brittle without the peanuts??
@@lisacook8504 if styrofoam and cheese puffs had a toffee flavoured baby, it would be this ☺️ hope that gives you an idea of the texture.
I really love this idea, i like baking and making stuff for friends so I might make them some candies! Also here in Mexico while it’s still known as Valentine’s Day we also call it “día del amor y la amistad” which basically translates into day of love and friendship 💕
Becky, you need to use different measuring cups for liquids vs. solids. They do make a difference! Especially when making batches that are sized up from original recipes (doubled or tripled, etc.). Plus 3T is 1/8 Cup.
2 T is 1/8 cup.... At least according to my home ec teacher!
I was saying out loud don't dump that in there, it's not going to be good. My husband ask me who I was talking to 😂 All your Valentine's treats look so yummy. That is so sweet of you to love bomb your family and friends. I hope you and Josh have a wonderful day with baby Acre on his first Valentine's day 💗
Hahaha, you gotta LUV Becky. Who else would pour molten lava into a plastic garbage can. I mean besides me. Becky is my spirit guide.
Volume sounds fine to me.
that honey comb looks wonderful and magical. I wanna make it but I know I'll mess it up.
@@phyllisstein1837 I’m going to give it a try.
It’s great that you are always reminding me, that now it’s time to do things like making cooking and candy for a holiday. I tend to put it off until the last minute, so it’s great. You are also the reason I actually got my garlic in the ground on time 😂😂
Oh my! Pouring that hot sugar in the trash can was hysterical! Yes, making those candy recipes that have crucial temperatures for different stages take your constant supervision! I love honeycomb candy!
I love honeycomb candies. We in South Africa has a candy that called Crunchie. Literally a honeycomb bar enrobbed in chocolate.
Becky, You are an inspiration to me. I don't like to cook. I don't like to decorate my house, just as long as it is clean. Watching you, I have started to cook. It is extremely hard because I am on a limited sodium diet. Trying to find recipes that have flavor but low sodium is hard. I am also starting to make my house a little bit more enjoyable to live in. You are such a nice person and also have a nice family. I also would like your Dad's youtube channel he does for devotions. Thank you!
You get a blue ribbon today! How gorgeous they are, you mastered it Becky! Happy Valentines day to you and Josh!❤️👏🏻❤️🥂
And Baby Acre!
I hope we'll soon learn his name. 🥰
So much fun in the kitchen today. Your family and friends are so blessed to have you in their lives. And I am with josh on the peppermint Pattie’s. Yum
Ive never heard of the sea foam or honeycomb! I love that you did totally different recipes this year.
Also know as fairy food.
I love that you added some footage of you dropping the boxes off
Before Christmas, I learned how to use my instapot as a double boiler. You put 2 cups water into it, turn on saute. When it starts to have small bubbles, turn to "keep warm", place a bowl over the instapot, that doesn't allow steam to get out. I like using stainless steel for this. I melted chocolate for several candies, pretzels, etc. If I got too tired, I'd just turn it off, let it cool, cover the bowl (my bowls have lids), and started again the next day. I never had to put more water in the installer and it always measured 2 cups! It changed my life!
Becky your such an inspiration ! Your energy is so motivating. Only problem is I spend more time in your kitchen and garden (via your videos) than I do in my own 😂😊.
A tip for getting parchment paper into baking dishes (I learned this from @mina_rome!) is to get the parchment paper damp, crumple it into a ball, and then spread it back out again into your dish. It becomes so much easier to work with and doesn't spring back up out of the dish like it does when it's fresh out of the box, and it's a lot easier/faster than folding or cutting the paper
You can stop the damp part too... Still works great!
Love Valentine’s Day for sharing the love of friendship!
Simple formula for success: Proper prior planning prevents poor performance.
How thoughtful. And a fun tradition for your family. Helps me embrace the day a bit better. Valentine day was not a fond memory for me, but I could make new ones. Thanks, Becky.
Yes!
Yay a video from Becky! Nothing better!
Oh Becky, (LOL). You are the realest of the the real. This is real life in the kitchen!
I’ve made mistakes baking to. Don’t fret over it. We’ve all done it. Happy Valentines Day ❤️❤️
Happy Valentine's Day to you also Becky! And thank you so much for putting out your UA-cam shows. I have learned a bunch from you.
I just love your energy Becky! It is infectious - because you motivate me to have a more productive day after watching your videos!
I use her videos to keep me moving faster when doing a big project since she's always moving so fast. It feels like having a friend working right beside me.
“Love bomb them” haha that is the cutest thing ever! ❤
Where I am from in Canada (Vancouver,BC) we call that Sponge Toffee! Love learning new things like that
This was so fun!! Your candies sound so delicious and what a fun treat for all your friends and family! Happy Valentine’s Day to you ❤
Loved this video!❤Thankful someone else messes up in their kitchen too! Always look forward to checking out your videos!
Hey Becky, when you sieve your powdered icing sugar use the back of a metal spoon, it pushes the sugar through much easier x
lol, girl… you’re freaking me out with that knife and those sprinkles!!!!
I love Seafoam. My Nanny used to make it. I have her recipe now. I live in Virginia and we have always called this Seafoam candy. I love it.
Making candy has always intimidated me but you make it look so easy that I want to try to make some, too. Wishing you, Josh and precious Baby A. a very Happy Valentine’s Day!❤
Everything looks so delicious! I'm on a diet so I'm living vicariously through you. I'll definitely make the Peppermint Patties at Christmas this year.
I love your never quit, never get flustered attitude, right along with the hot sugar mix into the trash! Real life UA-cam! I love it! 💜
Happy Valentine’s Day Acre Homestead family! ❤💛♥️💛
Many lessons were learned!!! Have to appreciate Becky's upbeat personality! 😊
All those little boxes of treats are beautiful. You are just amazing!
Happy valentines day to you too Becky, Josh and baby Acre!
Your son is so blessed to have a Mama who handles mistakes so gracefully.
So simple, easy and economical to make. ❤️ anything homemade 🏡 is made with 😍
You are such a resilient person!
Ai jinne, girl, I love how you turned the flops into positives. You are a super cool chick.
Omg I have so much to catch up on. I've been home for a month now recovering from so much and I really missed your video's. I spent 3 weeks in the hospital. I went in around December 29th, got my surgery on Jan 9th Which I should have had my surgery on the 5th but I failed this stress test. So my surgeon would Operate without approval from the heart doctor, so that pushed it till the 9th. Along with that my mom went in the hospital and passed away on the 11th of Jan. I got out of the hospital on my birthday Jan 13. To be able to say a proper good bye to my mom. I'm so glad to be getting back to my happ place. Thank you Becky😊 💓
Becky! You are a sweetheart for sure! I love when something you do goes up side down & you turn it right side up with your precious positive attitude! That is exactly what you are suppose to do, because that is how we learn! You are simply lovely! I really enjoy watching you! You are sooo entertaining & make us all feel like we are right there with you! Best show, EVER!💖💕💖🙏😊
Happy Valentine's Day. We basically get something for the youngest grandchild still at home. Everyone else has families and grown. Everything looked scrumptious Ms Becky. Love on your new little one. Enjoy your Valentine's Day.
I adore you Becky!! You are a incredible thoughtful person Becky! This was so sweet of you!♥️
Thank you so much!
Beautiful candies and so thoughtful!
You gave yourself grace on the honeycomb. Love it.
I often roll sugar cookies in sprinkles. Using a smaller, but much deeper container and shaking them back and forth to coat is less annoying than rolling, to me at least. 😊
We always made this candy at Christmas time. We know it by Angel Food and Sea Foam in Minnesota.
Here in Finland (and I believe most of Scandinavia) valentines day is called ystävänpäivä/vändag or "friend day", so on this day we celebrate friendship by practicing kindness towards both strangers and loved ones, maybe make a special dinner together with your family or call up a friend you haven't spoken to in a while. A simple way a lot of Finns celebrate friend day is to literally just take a second and hug your friends and family! I remember as a kid in school we used to hug our classmates on the morning of/close to valentines day and compliment them or just say something nice to let them know we appreciated them.
The romantic/americanized stuff has slowly seeped into our stores, we never used to have heart-shaped chocolate boxes or teddy bears before, but for us Finns it really isn't a commercial holiday or something that's only for couples. I know I'm biased lol, but I think our approach to valentines day is the way to go! Not all love is romantic, and ones love for friends and family is absolutely worthy of celebration. And friendship and kindness is always something to celebrate!
What a great treat this afternoon, Hey Becky! I love your informative videos.💕
Everything looked so yummy! Peppermint Pattie’s are one of my favorite candies, but I’ve never made them.
My fave too! And Junior Mints… Fresh ones with delicious, soft peppermint cream inside… YUM!!! I so much want to try making a vegan and sugar free one (made with home made confectioner’s sugar made from an alternative sweetener, hope it’ll work)… 🤗
Love that you are treating family & friends!
I totally agree! Extra excited to show 💕 love
I definitely want to try to make the seafoam/honey comb. I've never had it and it looks so interesting and fluffy!
You can dip the cookies or paint them with red food coloring/water, then dip them in sugar and the sugar goes red and the cookies get soooo yummy!!! We do that with christmas cookies… You bake the cookies first, then do this. 🤗
I work in a Bakery where we color our own sugar. Put sugar in a plastic bag (regular white or course white) put on a few drop of food coloring. Close the bag and shake. Add more color if needed. Pour the sugar out onto a parchment lined pan. Tap to even it out. Set aside to dry overnite(uncovered). The day stir it a bit if it's lumpy. This way you can customize the color and only make the amount you need. Store in an airtight container.
Happy Valentine’s Day ❤ Becky! Thank you so much for working so hard for everyone.
Becky I just love how you do you!!!!❤
I love you! Your realness is always amazing. Thank you for showing the oops as well as the aahs!
Becky, you are a delight and a joy in your kitchen. Love your channel.💕💕
What a great idea! Good job Becky!
You have the sweetest soul! Happy Valentines friend! ❤
Watching you start over on a recipe is so relatable. I keep meaning to attach a cork strip to the door of one of my cabinets to pin recipes. I am just laying them on the counter and they are usually covered in food stains by the time I’m through.
I love Blue Tack for that (or the white one)…
Try putting the recipe in a food storage bag and zip it closed. No mess on recipe and leave near stove when cooking.
Becky I love cooking with you. It’s just like we are with you. I love when you show us your mistakes. It makes so real. Thank you
Thank you, Happy Valentines Day to you too xx
My Mum used to make strawberries with frozen chocolate on top!! Not so much for St. Valentine's Day but for Christmas!! Could still be used for St. Vallie's Day!!
I've been waiting for this video since I saw your post on instagram!!! They all looked so beautiful and yummy!!! I can't wait to try some Valentines candy for myself!! 🥰🤗💗
It would be cute if you would have made the peppermint patties as hearts!!! ❤️❤️
The brittle is just like peanut 🥜 brittle ! So yummy 😋! 😊👍💕💕💕
I love your take on Valentines Day!!
Wow those look AMAZING!
Happy valentine's day to you and your family and that tiny little angel. ❤️
