Underground Stone Shelter, Hiding from the Blizzard and Cold

- Опубліковано 30 вер 2024
- Hello everyone!
In this video, you will see how I hid in an underground stone shelter of an abandoned village deep in the forest during a snowstorm and freezing cold. I will show you how I took advantage of the current situation and turned an icy stone bunker into a comfortable and warm shelter in which it is possible to stay for a long time. I learned about the village from the elders a few years ago, but I never visited it until last summer, when I spent a night in a cave located very close to the abandoned houses and took a video. That day I did some research around the village and found a beautiful stone shelter in good condition. The idea immediately dawned on me that I must spend at least one winter night here. That's why I brought fresh straw to the shelter during the summer months in case I had to take shelter immediately from an unexpected situation. I woke up that winter morning and there was a blizzard, that's what I was waiting for, ideal weather for a new challenge. Knowing what awaited me in the village, I prepared simple hand tools such as a knife, hammer, pliers, sheet metal shears, some wire and a few nails. I packed food and water for the dog and myself, put my backpack on my shoulders and headed into the forest. The shelter didn't need much work, so I made a very efficient stove out of tin scrap that I found in abandoned and dilapidated houses, which kept me warm during the long and cold winter night. You will also see a quick and easy army bed improvisation I made from a tent wing.
I spent the night with the candles burning, the fire crackling in my stove and the wind howling with the snow blizzard. My dog Lajka and I record another exciting and interesting adventure.
Thanks for watching, I hope you like it.

I love the stove/heater construction, thanks for the tips. I heard part of the bio, by a narrator, that you're somewhere in central Europe. Finding such a solid constructed building is a great find!! Super cool! Be careful of using galvanized metals as fire places, when they heat up they release chemicals that are toxic and can cause cancer. If you want to use a galvanized tin for a stove make sure you bring it up to temperature outside in an open space so you don’t breathe it in, then once it’s burned off you should be all set. 😃 just for your own health. Loved the video as well as all your videos!
Thanks for the advice 😉
Everything causes cancer now, don't you know!
@@luxonbushcraft That's very true, zinc may cause fever if you have zinc plated metal, and you weld it, or heat it.
Some other metals do it as well.
It's called "metal fume fever", or in other words, metal poisoning.
I don't know if it causes cancer, but you will feel sick, if you're exposed to it.
Take care!
This one was like watching a survival video game or movie. A man and his dog building a shelter from the decayed ruins of civilization. Great stuff!

There is no decay there. its our so called "civilisation" that is decaying at speed of light.
It makes you think about the past when looking at those structures.
What happened here?
What lives were lived here?
Why did no one come back?

50 years ago I spent some time caving. For some of us it can be a calming experience curled up in a passage contemplating all that solid rock above and wrapped around you. Enjoyed the video's back and forth contrast between outside cold and snowy and inside warm and glowy.

@@4ajustpeace Yes. There's a primal feeling that descends upon you which is very calming and comforting - to be at rest and protected within the quiet embrace of Mother Earth.
That is a huge find in the woods. Must have been a homestead way back then. Looks like limestone block's. You always find the most interesting places to rebuild or reinvent. Awesome video.

It was a nice spot indeed! I was kinda wondering if it may have been a storage area for food, due to it being slightly underground. It's nice to speculate :)

Good morning 🌄 from Alabama. Not blizzard but 42 with 15-25:+ mph wind. Around 80 first on next week crazy. Glad to see you an that 4 legged steel eating machine buddy of yours. Was headed out to check a used guitar for sale. But it can keep for a bit. Looked so cold hope the two of you were warm enough. Course something hot to eat an drink can sure help. Alabama is a huge fan.
Thanks Bobby to you and the whole crew in Alabama! We finally have big minuses and I took advantage of it! Hello everyone and take care
One mans junk is anothers treasure especially when it comes to survival
I absolutely love this episode.. To have a bug out place like that would be fantastic. Better protection on the door while you sleep at night, but what a great find and build. It's a great hiding spot with opportunities to make a great stay with the ability to protect yourself from the outdoors but a place to hide out and turn into a place of peace and comfort
Thank you Chris!
Yeah. I grew up in the country and never got to build anything like that. But this particular video reminds me of what I found right outside of town. The train tracks used to have little 20ft tunnels going under them but they filled them in from each side at some point and you can't tell where they were but an animal must have dug into 1 of them because I found a small hole that opens into 1 tunnel. About 8ft wide 5ft high. Perfect for a tiny shelter
What has happened to all the wooden shelters you have built.
They are open to passers-by. Apart from this last one, I will give it to a dear man
You never stop amazing me with your skills honestly a swear if you had a box of matches you could build a cabin from them. All the very best from Scotland 👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴

Yes I am! Thank you for asking! I enjoyed it so it's not that bad!
Yay! A new video! Thank You Luxon for telling me what day to look for you ;). I have a new man in my life. He built a structure from cement in the woods in Lebanon. He sent me a picture and I thought of you. Kisses to my Lajka. I need to send him a big huge steak bone. Oh, Luxon. I have thought about the survivalist lifestyle a lot. I think about what I would have with me if I were in your shoes. I only see one thing that you lack in all of your builds, that might come in handy. That thing is Duct tape!!! lol I can't say enough how much respect I have for you. You built Lajka a bed of her own!!!!! Your wife is a very lucky woman. Any man who takes care of animals like that is perfect IMO.
Thank you, Olivia!

This was such a beautiful video. It hit many subjects but I think the most important lesson was, how to reuse materials to make your life better. A person may think they are completely out of the game but there is always a way to survive. Your video display this lesson so well. Also, you showed that keeping the mind working is better than sitting down and giving up. If your mind is thinking, you will always find solutions. Thank You so much my Friend.

Don't you worry that something toxic or explosive was once stored in the metal bucket and it could have residue? I guess if you are freezing it is worth a chance but do you run into this sort of thing? Love the video, you found a beautiful, peaceful looking place.

Hello friend! You're a real man!!! 👍
I love such old buildings ! There are brands on the tiles . If you suddenly come across tiles with brands, could you show these brands?!
Thank you! I will
It’s so wonderful to find this new adventure of yours and Lajka! Thank you! Your inventiveness reminds me of an old TV show in the US called MacGyver who could make anything from practically nothing. Please tell us what you think might have been the original purpose of that underground shelter. It always makes me sad when you pack up and walk away, I want to see more, have you stay longer for all of that work.
Thanks for watching! I'm not the owner so I didn't stay long. I think it was a wine cellar. The surrounding buildings looked to me like pantries and pens for animals, the only thing I couldn't find was a well. Maybe when it warms up I'll go look for it.
I really appreciate your ingenuity in making the warm and comfortable place to stay from scratch. Enjoy your video.
