A few things. It stirs better in a bowl. And it does better if you add the powder to the water. No, you don't need gloves. Some people swear you need a respirator because it's a powder. But it's called an eco resin for a reason. You only have about 5 minutes to 8 minutes max to mix, color, and pour. Adding water isn't going to give you more time. I honestly think you need the JDiction 25-minute work time. When you have too much water, the water is either going to separate and come out of the bottom of the mold, or it will just not cure. Eco resin doesn't grab stuff like resin does. You do better to add designs after it cures. So make the coasters then stencil them. With eco resin, you don't have to worry about sweating. Jesmonite sweats, but it has a liquid catalyst instead of using water. When you have too much eco resin made, don't panic. Grab a silicone mat, color the eco resin, marble it, whatever. Then dump it on the mat and spread it very thin. Once it cures, break it up....now you have more terrazzo chips. If by chance you break a piece pulling from a mold. Just like a ceramic, glue it back together. Eco resin can take more water, but not that much. When using the calculator I sent you, you are already adding a little more water. That's all I can think of right now. Please go hunt a few videos of people using eco resin. Paint might cover the spots on the coasters. You can also paint with eco resin. Mix a very tiny amount and brush it on thinly. Let it cure. Maybe next time, do a private live with me and you. I'll help you. We will call it a collab, and then you can edit and post it. Ok, I think that's really it.
If you use a larger bowl to mix your powder in, it'll decrease the amount of time you need to stir and it'll reduce the lumps. Claire's Crafty Corner has lots of videos on eco pours and she gives you pointers on all kinds of cool things to do with it. They're still adorable. It's a major learning curve from traditional resin.
Steve McDonald also. He uses a large pot to stir it for that reason. It does have the consistency of plaster. And Steve also uses spray sealer on his too.
I would try slowly adding the powder to the water and stirring it after a little bit each time. Kind of like an a recipe when you’re slowly adding flour.😊
Definitely keep trying. Practice makes perfect. ❤❤❤ Making smaller batches will work out better. If you have leftover mixtures, you can make your own terrazzo chips by spreading them out on a silicone mat. The best way to get consistent color is to mix the color into the water and then add it to the powder. I love this video. Thanks for sharing it. Chris
Michelle, you are awesome 👌 You didn't fail, the project failed...big difference. Thank you for the lesson. Learning what not to do is just as important as learning how to do something. You and Don are wonderful, fun, and entertaining ❣️ Keep up the great videos 🎉
Hi...the larger bowl comment is a definite must....and honestly..I've found that adding the powder slowly gives you a much better mix and consistency with no lumps at all. That has been my experience Michelle 😊
Hi Michelle, i just got your beach bag and omg you really put did yourself, i absolutely love everything❤❤❤thank you so much for everything you do for us. Your the best. Love your videos❤❤
“Your redemption draweth nigh!” Lol😅 I actually enjoyed this whole video. I learned a lot! I think you did really well saving and making your pieces useable. The characters are adorable. I’m sure they were happy to come to life! Thank you!! It was fun! I’m back…I just saw how late I was to this party! Oh well.
When you mix 1 to 3 ratios, think of it as 1/4 and 3/4. If you need to make a total of 10 oz., mix 2.5 ozs. of whatever the smaller amount is (water or powder) and 7.5 ozs of the water or powder. If it’s 1 to 2 parts, think thirds, 1 to 5 parts, think sixths, etc.
I picked up a mixing bowl and whisk from dollar tree for my ecos. Also adding powder to water will make mixing easier in my opinion. Also, instead of additional molds for extra mix, I keep a silicone mat close by to pour on and make terrazzo chips
Oh my goodness how cute are your two little animals. You are such a great person when it comes to saving your pour that don't work as planned. You always have such a positive attitude to. I love to learn from your videos. Thanks for showing us the do's and don't
Michelle, I made the exact same mistakes by adding too much water. Consequently I found out my coasters were not level at all when I took them out of the molds, plus those awful air bubbles! Try working around a very thick kind of mixture, literally looking like pudding (sorry for metaphor) and stir slowly by adding water gradually. For the air bubbles, rub a little casting mixture over the surface when the coasters are completely dry (usually after 24 hours and I’m living on an island ). Sanding paper is a must when working with white cement or casting powder. Et voila!
You have 30 seconds to mix then pour. Mixing any longer causes it to get thick because it starts to cure just that fast. I tried to warn you on FB when I posted the pics of the shells and trays i poured but you didnt believe me😂😂😂 and the best way ive found for coloring it is to color the water with mica powder before adding it to the resin powder❤

I love the blue elk and the unicorn is adorable. Maybe you could add a very thin layer with some terrazzo chips into the coasters??? Thanks for the video. 😍
Use a much larger mixing bowl. Any leftover casting resin can be crumbled up and used as chips for terrazzo. There is a learning curve because the difference between resin and casting powder is huge. You need a small whisk to mix these plaster like products. I know how hard it is when you can feel clumps at the bottom… it reminds me of oobleck! It’s like the faster you stir, the harder it feels! But mix2mold sells these long skinny whisks and they’re awesome!
I know what I would do with the pine knots! You could cut thin slices to lay into the resin with some foliage and do a kind of river table effect! Or use them to display your work?
I would say put your water in the container first, then pour your powder in a little at a time and stir until all the lumps are gone, then pour in some more powder stirring until every bit of powder is in the cup and you have a milk consistency.

Yeah mica powder and glitter don’t usually transfer on casting powder for me either. Also u can mix the mica with sealer and make a paint so u can paint the piece like that
So I added more water😂😂😂 OMG Michelle, stop adding water😂😂😂 No Michelle, don't pour the water into the powder......don't do it.....oh she did it😂😂😂 This was a great video for April Fools day😂 I really do like the way you saved the coasters before the glaze. That Unicorn is gorgeous and Mr Elk is cute❤❤ Great laughing with you Michelle, Thanks for showing us that everything is not always perfect and things will happen for us in their own time, not our time!!
Hi.. I suggest a buttermilk consistency I have mended holes by making a small amount of paste and pressing kinda wiping it in to the holes I thought to cover the smears a thin resin coat with crush crystal or fine glitter.. just some ideas...❤

Would your electric resin blender work on mixing this stuff? I love the elk and unicorn. Maybe you could add a thin layer of opaque resin inside the coasters to cover where the mica didn’t transfer?
Michelle, I love the doggie coasters. Perfect or not, they were made with redemption in mind. Perfectly hand-made. Only the bunny didn't survive 😢, but everything else is beautiful.
Michelle, don't be to hard on yourself,it's all a learning process. Next time could you put the powder in the water a little at a time, stir it up ,add more powder, stir it up. Till it has all dissolved. Or even warm up your water don't get it hot you don't want to cook the powder. May.be you could try that. I think the little moose(elk) and unicorn turned out cute next time will be the thebcharm
Measure out 2 equal parts of plaster powder to 1 equal part of water by volume. Pour the water into a mixing container and then slowly add plaster powder. 😊
@glitznglitterbymichelle1 you measured correctly, so what on earth is going on. Maybe an email to Let's Resin? I have only seen people use Jesmonite and the eco pour powders. Claire serves the powder first as it clumpy otherwise. But it still looks very runny- thinner than crepe batter. I hope you find the source of the issue as I can't seem to find jesmonite here!
The little unicorn is awesome! Brilliant save on the missing ear and the horn crack! She is just adorable! I can't speak much on the mixing process, but I had the thought that using a shallower container to mix would at least give you access to the bottom. My other thought was setting up the water and powder as individual portions for each mold. Interesting on the powders not adhering, but they are designed to work with resin, and resin like substances. Oh! Could you seal the coasters, or encase them in a thin layer of resin, drill holes in them.... then use one of the pieces of wood you were gifted to make a wind chime sort of thing?? Hope you had a blessed Easter.
You show great resilience with this product Michelle, good on ya. The little animals are adorable, the 🦄 is super cute. Like others have suggested pop over to see Claire’s Crafty Corner and Steve MacDonald for fantastic tips. Well done girly 😊
Michelle I think they are all still adorable but I was thinking that maybe do a thin coat of resin with starrynight alcohol in it and might mask those little parts you do not like .Just keep on doing it you will get it.Practice makes perfect.Blessings to you both❤😃
It literally is what you mix when and not the amounts. The water should be measured and in the mixing cup first. Add powder slowly stirlring as you add it to the water. I've used this a lot and bought it from Michaels. The colors are okay but I'm still working on getting darker colors and order some jesmonite dye from etsy which I can't wait to try. The precolored powder is really colorful but still not as strong a color as the image on the packages the product comes in. I'll pray for your success!
Michelle, you are so funny!! You have been using resin for so long and you are really good at it!! This is no different. It's funny though because I kept thinking, she's a baker, she should be fine! Kinda like my geometry teacher saying, you're an artist you should get this!? Um...no.❤ The little guys were adorable!! Especially, the little blinged out unicorn, love her!!

I've also seen them sift the powder into the water instead of dumping the water into the powder. Makes it easier to stir.
Claire's Crafty Corner....she suggests using a sieve and a small whisk when mixing the powder and water.
I was about to say the same thing !
Claire also mixes in a large bowl
Claires crafty corner does alot of experimenying with casting powder

Measure out 2 equal parts of plaster powder to 1 equal part of water by volume. Pour the water into a mixing container and then slowly add plaster powder. 😊
It isn't plaster powder. It's a rational of 3:1.
My original measurements were exactly 3:1 as per the directions 🤔
@glitznglitterbymichelle1 you measured correctly, so what on earth is going on. Maybe an email to Let's Resin?
I have only seen people use Jesmonite and the eco pour powders. Claire serves the powder first as it clumpy otherwise. But it still looks very runny- thinner than crepe batter.
I hope you find the source of the issue as I can't seem to find jesmonite here!
I think they turned outcool
Michelle i love wsrchijg your channel. Thank you for being you. Your coasters are beautiful .
Thank you so much!☺️
I’m going to try this but I’m going to pour 1/2 the powder in and mix it with a whisk then add in the rest of the powder.
That unicorn is glittery and adorable, love you how to fix it. 💖
I wonder if adding the powder incrementally to the water would help fight the clumps?
It sure does! That’s how I do it now!
Great job on the unicorn and dont beat yourself up always a next time love watching your videos 👍👍👍
I feel so bad for you.I could hear the panic in your voice.Don't stress you can always try it again
😁😁
I have to binge watch I’ve been on vacation so I have missed about four
😁
He is an OctoElk…Octopus and Elk ! The bubbles look like the suction cups on an octopus!
A normal person would realize these things 😁😁 must be the pressure of the camera 😁
You show great resilience with this product Michelle, good on ya. The little animals are adorable, the 🦄 is super cute. Like others have suggested pop over to see Claire’s Crafty Corner and Steve MacDonald for fantastic tips. Well done girly 😊
Michelle I think they are all still adorable but I was thinking that maybe do a thin coat of resin with starrynight alcohol in it and might mask those little parts you do not like .Just keep on doing it you will get it.Practice makes perfect.Blessings to you both❤😃
Lol! It's all about the Elk and Unicorn!
I'm very happy that you show even the mistakes in your videos, I love blue eyes the elk and Glitter the unicorn, sorry just a suggestion for the names
I had the same problem. I kept adding water also. And still ended up maing a mess.
Yes you can glue it
Love this
I got my Beach bag and I love it ❤ Michelle you truly out did yourself on the bags❤
Thank you!!😊
Michelle, you are so funny!!
😁😁 baking follows correct instructions 😁😁
@@glitznglitterbymichelle1 and math is the other side of the brain!! Which is lacking on my part!🤪
I’m wondering if your jug was damp in first place you might be better of with jdictions resincrete it’s a lot thinner
