The mp145 has been getting a lot of hype recently, I saw somebody modding it by removing the foam, they said it really brought back the high-end planar sound

I got my MP145's and they sound great especially at low to medium volume levels. How I'd describe them as intimate sounding like the singer is singing directly to you vs. you sitting and watching the band (hope that makes sense). Almost like analogue sounding vs. digital (which is a unique preference). However, at high volume, I think these have too much energy in the treble frequencies which makes everything sound a bit busy like cymbals constantly crashing in my face. (I have only used the balanced nozzles and eartips)

Your ability to differentiate music from opinion is rare and great
I'm genuinely interested in this one when I got to hear it during an iem meet up with other audiophiles, it just gave me an impression that I couldn't brush off after hearing them
Again thanks for keeping it real. I work for a major nonprofit and I can tell you we button things down before our name is ever used (contracts, State filings, etc.). You just cannot mess around in this litigious environment. A for profit entity who indicates that they are publicly announcing a promotion must follow through with it, but we are talking about Chineses companies and the State Attorney Generals typically would not take on a case like this. My two cents. . .
I remember the first planar iems being released back in the day (Audeze), and really didnt care for the sound or fit. Fast forward to today and I'm loving my Heyday, cool to see how far planar tech has come within the iem world.
I've got the Stellaris and love it despite the hate it gets but these seem like they'd complement them well.
So many planars around the same price out now, thank you for helping us understand what they're good for instead of just being good!
Had a chance to get these for 110 i think during kickstarter but got really tight on money back then, it is what it is , I'll keep saving up for quintets

These planars just keep getting better
I've had the S12 for a year now and wanted another planar hopefully with a better fit for my ears. I've considered Timeless AE, Melody and Dunu Talos but ultimately I ended up ordering the Heyday. I decided on it based on a supposedly more neutral presentation compared to other planars - we'll see. This one and Melody also look very interesting so maybe I'll pull the trigger on one of these in the future. Planar IEMs bring best bang for buck IMO, it's just the tuning that needs work. That being said, I'm looking forward how the upcoming S15 turns out!
S15 apparently overpriced
Heyday is better than the MP145, IMO. You have a bit more in the upper mids/pinna gain which is no harm I think, this is a matter of taste but MP145 can be just a little too dark (even with the brightest nozzle). It's also a much better fit, the MP145 is HUGE and it's quite tricky to get a good fit.
The Letshuoer S12 is still my favourite planar but I have'nt heard the Wu Zetian or the Talos yet, both of which seem highly regarded.

this set got pretty good ratings from a lot of audio reviewers, but it seems that the controversy with the whale charity got in the way of it becoming known as a great planar. It's a shame, if they had only marketed it better or been more transparent with their "donations," this set woulda gotten a lot more love. Appreciate the review Chris!

I've been wanting to try a planar. Surprisingly I haven't bought a Talos or Timeless yet. Might try this now.
Awesome review! By far my favourite iem reviewer on UA-cam! And my library is very similar.
Of all the planar iems, the mp145 is the set that has my attention. The main thing holding me back from ordering is the shell. It looks heavy.
There's a guy Michael Gordon that's been a composer for over 30 years that produced and wrote two songs with sick retro vibes.
Candy by Mk.gee and how many miles, if you got the time you may enjoy one of them.

I’ve never been fond of the planar sound, but this one seems promising. Just a big fan of dynamic or dynamic hybrids hard to get that note weight and decay from a planar. Have a good week
Moderate price and 7s across the board - sounds pretty good. Never tried a planar and may have to take a look at this one or the 7Hz. But also am very interested in oter HBB x collabs out there. The hobby is interesting but I'm still not going for the high-end IEMs yet as the low-priced ones are doing so great.
These look really interesting as competition for the S12 really, I'm curious to hear a direct comparison between the two as they're priced pretty similarly

I used to only grab planars when listening to acoustic music, lately the MagicOne has been spending a lot of time in my ears.
I deliberately backed off from buying these during and after the Kickstarter campaign for the very issue identified. There was a vagueness and lack of transparency with regards the charity link. It felt like a marketing technique first and foremost. Perhaps I was wrong????

I've got two planar sets, I think I'm good on the single planar config. Would love to see someone mix a planar in a way to produces something mind blowing.
Planar tech has improved a lot in the last year we can get more out of the drivers.

I’m with many here who owns a S12/Pro/Z12, so it’d be nice if the review can compare these with the MP145. So far, just based off memory, this one seems better tuned with less planar timbre, which is a win all around. Timmy just reviewed a KEFINE planar too, so maybe you can compare it to that as well.
I got the MP145 about 1 month ago, and I just love it. Good bass and lovely mids and treble. My first experience with planars was the Letshouer S12 Pro but I prefer the MP 145. Love your reviews. Good job !

in a situation like this, where the set is graphing very closely to your target, what is it going to take to get those 7/10 to be 9/10 or higher? will it be driver quality, driver type, driver count, or is the tuning limiting factor/bottleneck?

To my ears the Heyday and the Timeless AE were the best solo planars I've used thus far. If this or the Melody at least comes close to the tuning of those two I'll definitely consider getting them.
I'm happy that companies are getting better at planar IEM tuning to where they can sell them at cheaper tiers

oooh. count me in for the mest mk2! nice one! so i personally really appreciate that you tell us about the companies. I appreciate that these are great iems. I would not buy them on principle, based on your comments. companies need to learn that they cannot get away with bullying nor with trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
To date Hey Day are one of the finest sounding iems in my collection. The graph on this one looks nice. Seems planar wars is still an ongoing thing. Also had wrong harsh experiences with hidizs store on how they handle a sell and customers in general, so after a couple of dacs no more of them for me.

I still haven’t fallen completely in love with a planar IEM. I loved the Heyday, and still have and love the IEM that shall not be named. S12 and its siblings were not for me, although I’ve always been interested in Michael Bruce’s Glamdring mod. I’m glad this set is out there and filling a need, but I passed on it myself.
Would love to see a good midfi, hybrid planar that checks some of my boxes and gets me interested again. Until then, these just don’t work for my genres in most cases.

I bought the Raptgo Hook X based on your recommendation and it's pretty good. I certainly seem to have the idea that Plannar drivers have good details and clarity to them. I found the same to be true for the 7hz Timeless.
Those are probably my top 2 planar sets, hook X is something special
That was a good example of giving the company s#*! for thier intransparency about the Marketing thier making but also taken thier product as what it is. you gave all the information and we the customer can decide for ourselves if we like to bye that thing or not. there are reasons for both, depends on what you care about. thanks for that!

For me this hobby is based on my disposable income. Considering that, I want quality but I also want my money being spent in the right place too. You provide a transparency in this hobby that helps to the end. Very simply keep it up and thanks for what you do and how you do it!

To be honest, after owning and daily driving the s12 and PR2, Planars haven't really excited me like they did before. I'd love for the mp145 to scratch whatever itch I'm looking for, but I'm not really sure if it will

The MP 145 has had a lot of hype especially with the whales angle but like you said they need to clarify what they are doing with regards to it.

sometime around last year only the options for budget planar IEMs were so limited, and now we are spoilt for choices.
It’s an amazing set, especially for the $130 early bird price. What kind of kills it for me is the size, they are BIG! But, even for my small ears it’s manageable.
