here's another important thing. we had pipes for how many years now? It's not like people will start dropping dead all of a sudden just knowing about it. Also we been around for how many thousands of years? our gut is adapted to dealing with bacteria.
+nortan27 small amounts of toothpaste are still there after brushing teeth and im sure its swallowed, btw I just mean that fluoride doesn't do any harm and just dont be paranoid, but be cautious :0
The amount of bacteria in tap water can vary a lot from country to country, citizens build up a resistance, which is why you should be carefull what u drink when abroad. Also what is this science channel?
i am a retired master plumber. i worked withe sewerage from the age of thirteen and never had a probkem with bacteria. obe time i was even in a ditch doing an emergency repair to a hospitals forced sewer main and the side of the ditch caved in on me sisplacinv all ofhis disiesed water over my ehole body even in my mouth nose eyes and ears. i was pissed but i didbt catch anything. now the older i get my immune system isnt what it used to be and i keep getting syaff infevtions every few years. my sity just insualled a new water main to my home and it failed for bad bacteria after six daus of drinking and showering in it. i had a small scratch on my left bicep and this bacteria got in the scratch and started eating my arm. i just giy out of thhe hospital after six days of bags of powerful antibiotics being dripped into my veins and surgery to instal a drain in my arm to drain all the disgust out. i am still on oral antibiotucs and still gave tge drain in. I will find out in.a dew days if i am out of the woods or if i will lose my arm or worse. these pathogens and naciilli are serious shit. if they ecer work on your water main make sure you dont use it until a lab has tested it.
Hello, I'm not sure if you are able to read this. I have a question: How exactly does a water filter work? How does it give that fresh watery taste? Will it be able to remove harmful chemicals and bacterias? What can it not remove?
And then there's homeopathy. The water somehow retains the trace of useful materials way beyond the avogadro limit, but manages to forget all the amount of shit and piss that's been in it.
zukodude487987 SouceFed does a few news articles in one video with the title of only one of the articles. Check the latest videos and find the one with the Dudes smoking a bong in pizza hut...about a minute into the video is the MCR-1 part
The amount of bacteria in the pipes is due to old and rusty pipes. If you replace the pipes with PVC or any other hard plastic, then you will see a massive fall in the amount of bacteria. Also the way water-treatment is done is taking into account where the water comes from. Since most of US's water comes from the surface there is a lot of other bacteria than countries using underground water. The most effective way to kill bacteria living in water is boiling it but that is very very expensive. Second best treatment is UV-radiation and/or chlorine treatment. At the same time those two kinds of treatment costs very little in comparison to boiling. Mostly all water-treatment around the developed world use UV-radiation and filtration just as Trace said. But when it comes to chlorine it is almost only a method used when treating surface water. Oxidizing can be used instead or with chlorine and is more cost effective than chlorine treatment, however chlorine treatment is almost solely there to kill bacteria while oxidizing is mostly used to remove heavy metals. Im sure the US use both methods of treatment, but in Europe, Russia and alot of other countries doesnt have to use chlorine since we use mostly underground water. There is also filtration systems they are working on in Singapore(they got some of the most advanced water-treatment plants) along with european countries where they made some ultra fine filters that zero bacteria (we know of) can get through. Overall good video, covers the basic "production" of our tap water and also some information i had to look up.
Some bacteria' s are safe right? So when we filter water..is all bacteria got killed? Or few of them will never die..if it happens how is amount of those bacteria? Coz you said that in every m.l. of water there is 8000 bacteria
No one is talking about Dnews on the Science channel, surprisingly. I think it is great that Dnews is getting more exposure, but the awesome thing about the UA-cam channel is that people can interact in the comments, and the Science channel will not offer that experience.
+GreatPirateSolomon lol, this is funny because both wine and beer are made by fermenting. Which is a process involving yeasts. XD But then again, yoghurt, cheese and bread amongst others are also made using microbes, so have fun avoiding those too.
Well if you've got copper pipes throughout your home; the copper will kill a lot of the bacteria on contact. Not all the bacteria of course; but a substantial amount. Home-builders have switched from copper to plastic tubing in the last ten years or so. Mainly to keep cost down. Copper is going for a pretty penny these days.
Well I think it's fine ... I drink it least a gallon a day of water and I am fine but i can't watch you on the science channel cause I don't have cable
i'm more concerned with the fluoride in water. a topical only application should not be ingested so the practice of adding it to our drinking water needs to be stopped.
+Spirit and still it's suggested for parents to not use fluoridated water in baby formula. there's the issues with the fact that it only works on teeth TOPICALLY on teeth but when you ingest it, it's toxic and the fact that it builds up in the body with continued ingestion. it's in our drinking water and in any foods processed with fluoridated water... by all means encourage people to brush with fluoridated tooth paste but don't add it to my drinking water without my permission. fluoridealert.org/issues/
Anything that doesn't require light trust me there's no way to make a bacteria resistant environment without a fair amount of money being spend and also key word resistant
I'm drinking only bottled mineral water for the past 15 years. There are some health issues with the tap water in my city every couple of years and I'm also in an old building with lead pipes. Enough said.
How about differences in bacteria in water between tier 1 countries like in northern Europe, which are known to have very good water vs tier 2 countries like America which arent as good, which is why bottles of water are so common. I used to live in the Netherlands where I haven't bought a single bottle if water in 15 years because tap water is even better. Now I live i n America and the water is much different and I drink solely bottled water.
Most drinking water in the United States come from the groundwater, not by lakes and rivers. Come on Dnews. Why avoid stating the most common resource of water?
*ARE! Bacteria is a plural word. (Using is there because it's the single word I'm referring to.) It's 'a bacterium' and multiple bacteria. Damn, English isn't even my first language and I knew that. Possibly because I'm a microbiologist :p
And yes, like Trace said this is perfectly normal indeed. In fact a large part of our bodies are made up of bacteria and we couldn't survive without them. Nor could nature.
My municipal water source is the Rio Grande River, the same river illegal aliens drown in trying to come into the U.S. Needless to say my water is heavily chlorinated and had a rice and bean after taste.
Dead water is what we drink. Molecules damaged from pollution, only repairable by a certain magnetic process that has been suppressed from us because of money reasons/the big ph(f)arm. If we went for clean energy from the beginning, we wouldn't have to worry about this.
The hell are you talking about? Bacteria will be in water regardless. The only way is to kill every species of bacteria and germs and make these tiny demonic fuckers extinct.
here's another important thing. we had pipes for how many years now? It's not like people will start dropping dead all of a sudden just knowing about it. Also we been around for how many thousands of years? our gut is adapted to dealing with bacteria.
remember not all bacteria is harmful most has no effect on us
maybe so, but also remember, that the knowledge you possess is suspect......
+noobkiller117 Smart is relative you fool.
+Kper not to mention, bacteria provides a source of proteins for us to digest too. lol
you do sound smart and I agree with you :D

Not nearly enough to even consider I would say.
2:02 "for dental hygiene"
That's what they want you to think....
fluoride is in your toothpaste.. I dont think fluoride can do shit in order for the govt to mind-control us.. :0
+rusydan1231 you don't eat the toothpaste though.
+nortan27 small amounts of toothpaste are still there after brushing teeth and im sure its swallowed, btw I just mean that fluoride doesn't do any harm and just dont be paranoid, but be cautious :0

Yes, but how much is bad and how much is good?
Hello, I'm not sure if you are able to read this. I have a question:

Sometimes when I'm alone in the kitchen, I use the broom as a guitar and pretend I'm in Slayer.
okay then....
I'm more concerned with acidity than bacteria
Congratulations on the television role, Trace!
Hello there Fremen,
Water,
Trace is the Mahdi!
And then there's homeopathy.
The water somehow retains the trace of useful materials way beyond the avogadro limit, but manages to forget all the amount of shit and piss that's been in it.
Stop avoiding the issue of MCR-1 it is seriously getting out of hand.
agreed
+zukodude487987 SourceFed covered it.
Khan Piesse It recently breached canada as well.

That opening was great.
Great DNews. Just great. I make a resolution to drink at least 4 bottles of water a day and what do I see in my subscription feed? This video.
+JayAntoinette sorry :( sorta ;)
+Trace Dominguez LOL XD
last time i was this early i found out i was adopted
I like drinking water that hydrates me AND doesn't make me die from diarrhea. Awesome!

"mostly harmless" today, "elite" tomorrow.
Using a Reverse Osmosis system on my faucet. Doubt I have any bacteria in the water.

I live in Flint they didn't test our water supplies to keep us safe
Germs cycle through your body to the water from the water into the air into the soil into the food a cycle of death.
Does AU have fluoride in the water?
Is dust, dead skin?
+Gabriel Campos yep. and other things.
In wine is truth, in beer is strength, in water is germs.
+GreatPirateSolomon lol, this is funny because both wine and beer are made by fermenting. Which is a process involving yeasts. XD

Ha jokes on you , I have an on tap water filter!
Oh my God, I lost it when he said "Hey there, Fremen" :P
Congratulations, I'm glad you got that opportunity, but I don't watch television.

Where can we get shirts like yours? 😂
wow I wanted to know that all my life
know i can die in peace
Congratulations Trace, that's awesome dude.
Well i have a water cleaner so i only have about 5 in mine... Until it touches air.
Well I think it's fine ... I drink it least a gallon a day of water and I am fine but i can't watch you on the science channel cause I don't have cable
I don't drink tap water
i would get dehydrated, which is counter-productive of what water is supposed to be
Crytospyridium ain't so good for you. But they tend to keep quite about that one.
water all these bacteria doing here?
Haaaaa
+Sergeant Johnson I see what you did there.
+Sergeant Johnson hahahah xD
I always drink tap water and never got any stomach ache or disease.
not to mention, bacteria provides a source of proteins for us to digest too. lol
Time for *sprite cranberry*
Do brita filters remove any bacteria?
some of it but they remove dust. (dust is even worse than bacteria)
can I have Diet water
I prefer water zero. diet water causes cancer of the finger nails.
yiesd
I was terrified of the answer
bacteria doesnt put me off tap water, but the chlorine smell and the bad taste do.
You mean to say that the water that can be lit on fire is one of the best water in the world?
Water has been around for decades and bacteria has too nothing new
Congratulations on making it to the TV.
what is tv?
i'm more concerned with the fluoride in water. a topical only application should not be ingested so the practice of adding it to our drinking water needs to be stopped.
+kricket250 Right. Right.
Except the amount of fluoride(s) in toothpaste is tens of *orders of magnitude* higher than in the water. You forgot that.
+Spirit and still it's suggested for parents to not use fluoridated water in baby formula. there's the issues with the fact that it only works on teeth TOPICALLY on teeth but when you ingest it, it's toxic and the fact that it builds up in the body with continued ingestion. it's in our drinking water and in any foods processed with fluoridated water... by all means encourage people to brush with fluoridated tooth paste but don't add it to my drinking water without my permission.

our ancestors used to drink water mixed with piss and poop and we worry about tiny harmless bacteria in our drinking water
I neither know, nor care.
Trace is wearing a STEM t-shirt and the URL ends in STeM. I think the UA-cam algorithms are trying to communicate with us.
wow congratulations on being on the science channel
My water comes from an artesian well 300 feet deep. What can live down there?
Anything that doesn't require light trust me there's no way to make a bacteria resistant environment without a fair amount of money being spend and also key word resistant
isn't it how much bacteria ARE in your drinking water?
I think in this particular sentence, bacteria can be singular. Is is always used for bacteria is instead of are from what I've seen.
no it would how MANY bacteria are
you dont say how much dogs is
Strawburry643725
oh yeah i guess xD, idk, english isn't my native languague so i was just wondering, i wasn't trying to be a grammar nazi :P
In the title, the word "bacteria" was being used as a collective noun which is treated as a singular.
+infrieser "how many bacterium are" would be correct I believe.
I'm always drinking out of the tap here in the Netherlands. And i only drink water.
But what about in places where water isn't filtered. Like in the nordic countries of Europe
hahaha choke me with bateria lmao the best joke ive heard in my life x'D
We would of seen a problem even if we didn't understand why if these bacteria actually harmed us. No reason to be fearful.
What about bottled water or is it pretty much the same?
Most of it is tap water
I'm drinking only bottled mineral water for the past 15 years. There are some health issues with the tap water in my city every couple of years and I'm also in an old building with lead pipes. Enough said.
lmao, don't fall for that, also don't forget about the plastic bottles who have chemicals in them
+ForbiddenMonkey JULIAN IS ON IT!

***** I appreciate you.
if you drink tap water without boiling it first you likely are not thinking it through
Not in Philippines tho we don't drink pipe water we use sanitized gallons
I don't drink tap or sink water just bottled or boiled water
The way you said Lund. xD
lol nice intro! loved it
do we have the material to build a space station to leave earth
fluoride for dental hygiene inside your body :) good for the bones and early death
True
That's it! I'm not drinking water anymore! Hooray Beer!!!
Congratulations on the TV spot!
We should all go clean our pipes.
Cleanliness is not next to godliness cleanliness is godliness
No I knew it was there
yeah it does because if I DID NOT KNOW that 10,000,000 bacteria was in tap water I still would be drinking it!!!
Fluoride helping teeth? Or rotting your brain?
Most drinking water in the United States come from the groundwater, not by lakes and rivers. Come on Dnews. Why avoid stating the most common resource of water?
Yeah, yeah and how many of them are deadly?
Government fucking up my tap water with all that damn fluoride.
still gonna drink it bruh
I haven't been willing to drink tap water in about 15 years. And I'm not a wealthy person.
dirty water name of bacteria plzz update name??
is no one going to talk about his shirt? it's parody of shit happens. that's just too clever
Well, if we don't get sick, then we are probably safe. No need to get paranoid. Mmm, delicious water...

well this doesn't count for me since where I am our water is the second cleanest water on the planet.
My gut told me to stop drinking tap water, and it's not a scientist just smart hahaha
Fluoride can't melt steel beams.
But staph A. and E. coli can form biofilm.
My municipal water source is the Rio Grande River, the same river illegal aliens drown in trying to come into the U.S. Needless to say my water is heavily chlorinated and had a rice and bean after taste.
