Climbing Katahdin Via the Armadillo, Baxter State Park, Maine

The Armadillo is arguably Maine's most famous classic alpine climb. Chimney, face, and crack climbing, all with terrifying exposure and fantastic views. This route climbs 7 pitches of the pyramid buttress in the middle of the south basin right next to Baxter Peak, Maine's highest point.

Good eye! We finished climbing somewhere between the end of the cathedral trail and mt baxter. We hiked southeast via the knife’s edge to summit Baxter and then we descended via the saddle trail. Thanks for watching!
