Agree 100%. With a family of 5, we want everyone in the first 2 rows, leaving all the cargo space that is available with the 3rd row folded down. Just offer that 2nd-row bench as an option! Not that hard!
To this day and I don’t know why, but Lexus Canada does it very differently. Majority of these options, if not almost all, come standard in Canadian models, even the parking sensors on the absolute base model. Hence the reason I am not complaining. I’m not sure how American dealers do it, but I mean over here in Canada, and I’m using the Highlander as an example, but majority of them are 7-passenger. Hence another reason I am not really complaining about the 6-passenger configuration as I’m sure it will sell well too.
TX with 6 passenger is really a miss for most of us. Going to go with Grand Highlander with 7 passenger seating, that 1 extra person means we do not have to take another vehicle in 99% of the cases.
Absolutely correct for my family too. Does Toyota/Lexus not realize that some of us might have more than 4 people we want to move around (and need all the cargo space available with the 3rd row folded down)??

I have RX350L now. TX550h+ sounds great as replacement, since I want to have heated and ventilated seats and also some kind of EV usage. But, only 6 seats? Sad.
Exactly - would it be so difficult for them to offer a 2nd-row bench seat as an option? (Or a 3-person 3rd row if that's what you need.) I can't buy this TX *or* the GH in their top trims with a 2nd-row bench seat. They're alienating everyone with a family of 5 😞(3 kids in the 2nd-row bench leaves all that cargo space with the 3rd row folded down for all our stuff when we take road trips.)
Lexus not offering 7 seats (a 2nd row bench seat option) on the v6 550h version of their LARGEST vehicle is a huge mistake. There are lots of families who need 7 seats and also want the luxury and the v6 hybrid! I was going to buy this until learning about the 550h only coming with 6 seats. Who are the incompetent people at Lexus making these short-sighted decisions? I repeat; this is the absolute largest vehicle that Lexus makes and it's being marketed directly to families. So a seating for 7 option on all models should be a no-brainer. Lexus is going downhill fast.
People who are going to buy the tx550 dont care about 7 seats instead they want maximum luxury features and comfort after all its the top trim. they are other trim levels that comes with 7 seats. Lexus is not going Downhill so be real

Interested in TX550h but having just 6 seat option in a 3 row SUV is a bummer. I would have been sold if there was a 7 seat option in 550h but now I have to think.
I completely agree that not offering 7 seats in the PHEV is a showstopper for me. I am really interested in a PHEV but may need to look at other manufacturers.
I like that it only has 6/7 seats. It’s a luxury SUV where EVERYONE is expecting to be comfortable no matter where you’re sitting. If you want more seats get the GH or even the Sienna if it’s that big of a deal. Disappointing that only the plug in hybrid gets heated and cooled rear seats🫤 right.. they could’ve brought over the standard V6 hybrid w the ECVT. If you’re bringing back the V6 might as well bring it back in the full package.
The problem is this is supposed to be the more luxurious version of the Grand Highlander and it doesn't have the same number of seats. The Grand Highlander has a boring interior and it looks cheap from the inside. Also, some people prefer an SUV over a van and would like the option to have the same number of seats while it being an SUV as well.

Until your video, I was under the impression that the 500h Luxury F Sport Performance Luxury didn't have a panorama glass roof but it does...it's the PHEV that doesn't have it. I might have passed on this vehicle had I not watched your video. Can't thank you enough.

I have no idea why anyone would even consider a LEXUS TX when the grand highlander is the best bang for your buck.... to be honest! especially if this is a FAMILY HAULER......... nah! those kids aren't about to ruin the interior of the Lexus TX
For 550h+ need at least 7 seats. Captain chairs alone make it SIGNIFICANTLY less appealing for daily or travel family use. For me a no go vs other options if heated and ventilated (ideally) second row 3 seat bench options is not offered. Would be unbeatable if third row is enabled for 3 seats
Currently looking for a 3-row vehicle, torn between this vs yukon denali , i know they are entirely different vehicles truck vs unibody. I have no need for towing maybe some ligh off-roading here and there. Lexus tx sounds like the sensible choice but then I don’t know, the 4cylinder for such a big vehicle, when fully loaded it may be underpowered. I think luxury vehicles should at least have a v6 for a better driving experience.
You're right. This huge vehicle should not come with a 4 cylinder. Minimum should be 6 cylinder. I was going to buy this in the 6 cylinder 550h+ option, but not anymore because that model only offers 6 seats. Huge fail by Lexus.
@@mylifeislegendary942 well my wife currently owns the lexus rx350 2021 with the v6, I got to drive the current rx 350 with the 4cylinder powertrain for a few days, its pretty good as long as you have 2-3 passengers. Actually you can certainly feel the torque may be better then the older gen. However if you have 4 passengers+ luggage in that car you can feel a slight difference in power, specially on an incline, vs the older v6(at least i felt it). With this tx we are looking at 5 passengers and for grand highlander upto 7 passengers + luggage, lets hope they don’t feel underpowered.
Most ppl want the middle row to be captains chairs anyway so I’m not having 8 seats is fine, but 7 seats needs to be an option. having a rear bench seat will not affect the car in no type of way I just feel Lexus is trying to find a way to have people opt in for the non-hybrid because it will have more seats.
Maybe it's most people by the numbers, but there are quite a few people who have posted in this video that want a 2nd-row bench seat. With a family of 5 (or a family of 4 and a friend), we want to put everyone in the first 2 rows, leaving all that cargo space that is available with the 3rd row folded down. All I'm asking is that Lexus and Toyota offer the bench 2nd row as an *option*. I'm sure it won't sell as well as the versions with captain's chairs, but there is clearly a market for what I'm asking for, just based on this one video.
Lexus brochures have a lot of inaccuracies and omissions based on my experience with then over the years. Toyota brochures are way more accurate for some reason. That said, I suspect there will be ventilation for the rear seats on TX Luxury grades for 350 or at least on 500h because Toyota Jeff’s video of the TX 500h showed buttons for rear heated and ventilated seats.
Hi Kirk, great review for the trim and I was waiting for that. I think the focus here is to distinguish TX from Grand Highlander. Lexus has a focus on comfort and luxury feel and not conveying a bunch of people. If you need people mover go for GH and luxury and comfort focus TX and I love that so that Gh and TX can share the market. I believe large families will go for GH. Great review always the best ❤
@@Unkn0wnAzn COME ON MAN.🤦. HYBRID UP TO PHEV ARE TOP LUXURY TRIM LEVELS And People WHO BUY THOSE TRIM LEVELS PREFER CAPTAIN CHAIRS .SO You KNOW That RIGHT ?
We'll be crossing shopping this with the Grand Highlander. I was thinking the base 350 would be fine but after watching this video I do agree that the Premium is the better buy. Hopefully the prices are close to what you predict so it'll be in line with the GH prices for the most part. I think the Lexus overall looks a little nicer than the GH so it could be worth it if it's not too much more expensive. I'll be most interested in a 350 Premium in white or red.
Torn between the F-Sport and PHEV. Currently have an RX350 and it is just not large enough. I don't care about seating I am more interested in cargo space.
Toyota/Lexus always botch the higher trims. People with large families apparently don't get the choice to buy a top of the line model. They need to change this. 6 seats on a large vehicle is ridiculous!

I'm old enough to be practical minded and realize that such a dream is likely impossible. But here it goes anyway. I wonder if there could be a business model for developing a center seat between the captains chairs, complete with seatbelts of course. It would be skinny, but I'd pay a grand or two so that I could have the 500 Fsport. I don't know, but this product would likely have to be tested by some gov't agency for crash worthiness? Do you know just how wide is that center pass-through area between the captains chairs?
I'm not understanding Lexus how do you bring out a big suv at this price but offer no wood option won't plastic me to death for that kinda money!!!! Bad decision Lexus 👎👎👍
A lot of the information here didn't age well. You can get a TX 350 premium with heated and ventilated 2nd row captains seats. Not just reserved for the 550h+.
The fact that they missed the opportunity to make this 7-8seaters is sad. Especially in the Hybrid versions. I drive a 2022 5seaters Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Limited SUV now. Was considering this as the next car thinking it was a 7/8 seater. Was looking for an SUV that if my parents visit, I can have grandpa and grandma in the same car, without taking the second car on a trip with the kids.. 6 seaters does not work for me unfortunately. I'll pass!
Kirk, please help me, I'm on the edge of going insane trying to find an SUV to buy. Is there a trim level that has the 2nd row bench seat and also 4-way lumbar driver's seat (and hopefully the passenger seat too)? I assume it would have to be a 350 Premium because the Luxury trim seems to already have required captain's chairs. But I'm afraid that 4-way lumbar may require the Luxury trim. Please, I ask again, help me! I see in the configurator that a bench seat is supposedly available even in the 350 Luxury trim. But does that get me 4-way lumbar? I sure hope so. What would be extra cool would be the 3.4TT V6 in this! I doubt any longitudinal transmission could take the torque of this, but I can dream :-)
I rather have the Grand Highlander for cheaper or just get the Sienna for people/cargo hauling. Lexus TX isn't luxurious enough and doesn't have enough features for the price. I feel like all the efforts went into the GX 550 and the TX is just rebadge Grand Highlander and being worse while lacking features on the lower/higher trims.

I'm quite interested in both of those too (though to be honest, the Land Cruiser is closer to fitting my budget than the GX) so I would love to hear some specs on the Land Cruiser, especially cargo space! And not just cubic feet, I want to know what the distance is between the back of the 2nd row seat to the inside of the rear hatch door, because I rarely load cargo over the height of the 2nd row seats for safety reasons.@@TuanNguyen-ld8kl

They're alienating everyone with a family of 5 😞(3 kids in the 2nd-row bench leaves all that cargo space with the 3rd row folded down for all our stuff when we take road trips.)
does it require premium fuel??
We need a buying guide series for other cars too.
Must been the Battery space to cut down the seat

I completely agree that not offering 7 seats in the PHEV is a showstopper for me. I am really interested in a PHEV but may need to look at other manufacturers.
The mazda cx90 phev seats up to 8 in some trims
Yeah the CX90 looks nice but I wish it had a bit more interior space. I want a usable third row and do not want to get another full size SUV.
@@shararihamideh1608 Good suggestion but way smaller inside than this TX.
Escalade, QX80, Grand Wagoneer, and Navigator are the only luxury SUVs that can seat 8 people
I agree in the passenger configuration. Where I am, majority of mid-size vehicles end up selling as a 7-passenger, or at times now a 6-passenger.
@@lol-ly4su the XC90 recharge and Aviator Grand Touring are smaller yet they offer 7 seats

Personally, I prefer the captain chairs with the 2nd row for comfort and better access to the 3rd row. Especially with my family with 2 car seats.
It's a shame doesn't have a hybrid that gets the 35mpg range.
The fact that there is no 7 seats standard is a HUGE miss.

Actually you can certainly feel the torque may be better then the older gen. However if you have 4 passengers+ luggage in that car you can feel a slight difference in power, specially on an incline, vs the older v6(at least i felt it). Maybe when it comes out next year they will have the bench option in 2 nd row they would sell more, they are excluding a large share of the segment.
Having massaging seats would've helped made this a bit more compelling than the Grand Highlander.
This car looks like the generic car pictures used in car insurance ads and brochures .
Good coverage Kirk.

While I get that GH is a people mover, I was just hoping the TX would have at least 7 seats.

Can you talk more about the V6 engine and transmission used on the top trim?
