Biggest problem with this car is you loose that tactile feel of turning on switches and knobs. They say texting is illegal because you take your eyes off the road, well this isn't that much further because you have to look at screens and buttons to make sure you hit the right one. How many times do you look at your turn signal switch when you turn it on? I never do unless there is a problem.
Great review, thx!! Would like to know the fix for that oil leak, though. Have asked Munro Associates to see how far it would go FSDvin on a track at a constant 150 while monitoring temps, voltages, etc. Wanna try on yours? Also, disable traction controls & see how much of a 4-wheel burnout it'll do!
Cool tech, but definitely undercuts the argument of many Tesla fans that the cars are simpler than an ICE. I agree that buyers are getting their money's worth for the price, if upscale features like air suspension and monster brakes are must-haves. Much cheaper to buy those in a factory design than a later retrofit, and makes it more valuable decades later as a collector, though few Plaids will live such a delicate life. Some Tesla owners claim no more cooling system issues, but that will likely prove the opposite. The oil leaks bring snickers. A base Model 3, or VW ID.4, is slightly simpler than most gas sedans, though much more expensive. The Leaf is the simplest battery-car (air cooled), but still pricey. Wide adoption requires better and cheaper batteries. That lack is what killed the first GM EV (heavy lead-acid batteries, short range).
That unprotected 360-turn wiring is complete reckless engineering and assembly. If all that kind of details are made that way, this thing will fail from everywhere pretty quickly.
First Video I saw of you. So refreshing to see somebody liking Tesla but not going to deep in terms of fanboy-ship and still criticizing wherever applicable.
I'm a tow driver. That's why I always use the I-bolt screwed into bumper to tow. Especially on electric cars. You don't want break to auto engage as you yank out the suspension. Lol
These (not existing) steering column controls and touch buttons are just like the digital cameras from the mid-'90s and early 00. They were like spaceships and came in all shapes, and then slowly came back to a regular DSLR camera just like they were 40 years before... These controls are an experiment and exercise of "what if"...
Yeah, another potential issue for getting stranded with no easy fix. Let's hope their intentions pan out of having it last for the life of the car so it won't be an issue to most people.
You could probably still mount a small 12v lead acid battery in the frunk in a box and keep jumper wires next to it. Then if you need to supply emergency 12v you can do it more easily. You'd probably just need to top up the battery manually with a charger every few months to be safe. You could do this with all Tesla vehicles.
The oringe plastic air con wire holder is of the model 3 which has the cable running over the top. Most of the Compressor/cooling looks identical to the 2021 model 3. I have one of these apart in the shed, In Australia
Also need to consider the Tesla is $130,000 and the Mach E is about $52,000. Over the life of the car, how much more per mile does the depreciation on the Tesla cost? While the Audi is probably pretty expensive also, you could make the same trip in a $28,000 Honda Civic and use even less gas.
I really appreciate how you are neither a tesla fanboy or a tesla hater. I swear it is impossible to find people like that on youtube right now. Someone who is actually trying to be objective.
I hate that yoke! Please Tesla, give us an optional steering wheel. I have shoulder issues and need multiple locations to rest my hands to avoid pain. Hopefully Tesla gets enough blow back that by the time I upgrade my S to a Plaid, they will offer an option. They literally fixed something that wasn't broke.
Let's try a Plaid, or any EV, at the Indy500. Indy car engines used to be built just durably enough to do the 500 mile race, 100 miles of practice, and 100 miles of "just in case". But can any EV do the basic match of running flat out for 500 miles without throttling itself down?

The controls on that car are ridiculous. I hope other manufacturers don’t copy this
The touch controls on the wheel are the worst part about this car
@@repCanada What wheel? It's a yoke and it's awful.
Love the tabs at the top of the web page during the square space ad 👌 @3:44
how is the gas powered Model S doing?
30:23 ICE-T video coming next week
We definitely need a Rich Rebuilds Soundtrack released at some point. I mean the world needs it.
6:02 Looks like they ran out of material to cover up the wiring for the shocks, that’ll be fun if you live in the Midwest!
The wire loom/conduit/Electrical tape generally never reaches all the way to the edge of a deutsch connector
Was that Steve? Whoever it was - thanks for pronouncing Aluminium properly 😂
Stevon's got that knife game going. First the CRK. What was the blue one this vid?
this squarespace ad was so smooth
I'm a tow driver. That's why I always use the I-bolt screwed into bumper to tow. Especially on electric cars. You don't want break to auto engage as you yank out the suspension. Lol
Funny to see how much chad gets excited with the features aha
The cut of doug demuro reacting to the plan had me crying laughing love the videos as always man!
THEY SHOULD MAKE A TRAINING STEERING WHEEL THAT COMPLETES THE CIRCLE AND IS REMOVABLE
*training/performance.
why are you yelling?
Probably not the best move for people trying to learn the dumb yoke design to use a circular steering wheel
These (not existing) steering column controls and touch buttons are just like the digital cameras from the mid-'90s and early 00. They were like spaceships and came in all shapes, and then slowly came back to a regular DSLR camera just like they were 40 years before... These controls are an experiment and exercise of "what if"...
Lol great value ice cream analogy was priceless
Humour levels high much appreciate
But does it have a log chopper?
Did anyone else notice the tabs he had open when he was promoting squarespace 💀
Yes lol
I like how Rich always has his Bell & Ross watch on. He don’t wear electronic smart watches.
The reinforced plaid conveniently retain oil leaks, just look at the height of the diamond shapes and the whole perimeter.
Oh, your 12v battery died? Sorry we're gonna have to total her.
The frunk is large enough, so one can just put a full size battery there as replacement.
@@dkostasx The converter is designed for a lithium cell now. You can't just swap a lead acid into place. 😟
Yeah, another potential issue for getting stranded with no easy fix. Let's hope their intentions pan out of having it last for the life of the car so it won't be an issue to most people.
@@JasonWW2000
It's probably coded as well
You could probably still mount a small 12v lead acid battery in the frunk in a box and keep jumper wires next to it. Then if you need to supply emergency 12v you can do it more easily. You'd probably just need to top up the battery manually with a charger every few months to be safe. You could do this with all Tesla vehicles.
The rant has me in tears. That Tesla hubris. Lmao.
Why did you do Doug like that lmao
The oringe plastic air con wire holder is of the model 3 which has the cable running over the top. Most of the Compressor/cooling looks identical to the 2021 model 3. I have one of these apart in the shed, In Australia
rich is pretty cool
He not cool he ice cold..lol
Love the Southpatk Ref... " and it's gone "
"A great value Sandi Monroe!" hahaha! Awesome!
That episode was hilarious and super informative! That's awesome free content
I really appreciate how you are neither a tesla fanboy or a tesla hater. I swear it is impossible to find people like that on youtube right now. Someone who is actually trying to be objective.
What about Doug Demuro
I hate that yoke! Please Tesla, give us an optional steering wheel. I have shoulder issues and need multiple locations to rest my hands to avoid pain. Hopefully Tesla gets enough blow back that by the time I upgrade my S to a Plaid, they will offer an option. They literally fixed something that wasn't broke.
Dude your website name and allá the jokes arround the squarespace ads are on freaking point hahahaha amazing
Let's try a Plaid, or any EV, at the Indy500. Indy car engines used to be built just durably enough to do the 500 mile race, 100 miles of practice, and 100 miles of "just in case". But can any EV do the basic match of running flat out for 500 miles without throttling itself down?
Idk about anyone else, but YT is putting Marques' vid right below this one, too. I thought the SAME thing, totally intentional.
I've never seen something so clever AND so jank at the same time.
Go, Go Rich ReBuilds!!
