    The Second Sister (bean) is planted with the corn to provide more Nitrogen to the corn. The Third Sister, (a squash or pumpkin) is used to shade the corn roots and keep them cooler.

    That Three Sisters patch looks great! I might have missed it, but did you say what variety of dent corn y'all are growing?

      My husband's accent can throw you off at times, lol. It's a heirloom variety called Trucker's Favorite

      @@humbleservantshomestead7974 oh no it wasn’t his accent, I just wasn’t paying enough attention at that part haha. We haven’t grown that one yet, but I hear good things.

    I'm trying that method with my corn to see how it works out for me. One of my squash is growing, but my beans didn't grow. I will be replanting more. I planted 1 corn per whole. Next time, I will do 3 corn. Never thought to do 3. Tfs

    I bought callaloo seeds from your Etsy shop. I planted them in spring and only a few of them grew.
    Is there a special time to plant them? Also how do you keep insects from eating them. The few that grew in my garden looks like pieces of lace from all the insect bites.

    I tried growing some Scotchie Babies. But they are stunted for a long time and not progressing. Would you sell 3 of your small Scotch Bonnet plants? I would be happy to pick up.

      @humbleservantshomestead7974  3 місяці тому

      My apologies we planted them all out. For the one you have that are stunted put some fish Emulsion fertilizer on them.

    Hi is everything planted in that one hole. How far apart is corn planted. I am new to gardening have not planted anything yet. Did not understand the name of the corn and bean.

  • @desertrestnv
    @desertrestnv 3 місяці тому +1

    Should all 3 sisters be planted at the same time? Or should the corn and the beans be planted at the same time then add the squash 2-3 weeks later?

    • @humbleservantshomestead7974
      @humbleservantshomestead7974  3 місяці тому +1

      Corn first and then when they are 8-10 inches tall you plant the beans. Then wait a couple of weeks for them to start climbing to plant the squash/ pumpkin
