The art of doing a good cover is capturing the essence of a song then owning your own style in the recreation of it. I have always been a big fan of the original Cult version and also of The Dandy Warhols. This cover is great Dandy Warhols recreation of the classic song . I love it.
I'm such a fan of the Cult, highly underrated band IMO,I'm digging this cover because its really no where close to the original sound wise, really except for the lyrics, there is no way the two could be related, which why not go that way w/ it..if I wanted something like the original, I'll listen to the original
I agree. I loathe covers that sound like the original. Do ska covers of metal songs, do industrial covers of shock rock, do swing covers of new wave. Give us something new that gives us a reason not to just listen to the original
First listen as a giant fan of the original, I like it. It may seem subdued in the beginning but it really gets faster, trippier. In concert this could really be a gem but the Dandys would need Spinal Tap Amps set to 11.
I didn't know this one :o !!! When does it come from ??? What year ??? It's like usually : from an album to the other, the style is allways totally different, totally new ! His inspiration is endless ! I like it ! There is sounds who seem to come from another time and others... more recent... it's original.
it may suck, or at least seem bland, on the first listen. But it really has grown on me. I often play this back-to-back (several times over) with the original version by the Cult. It's really then that this version comes to be appreciated.
I love the original version, but I respect the fact the Dandy's didnt just try to copy it, they played teh song THIER way. Kinda cool sounding, Ill listen to it again
This is my first time hearing this. And I still like the vibe, a lot, but I think it needs a couple more listens. Maybe the vocals are where they should be.
I dunno...I like it. The original has a primal energy to it, whereas this has the standard Dandy's chill stoned out psychedelia thing going on. Obviously pales compared to the original, but covers are supposed to do something different with the original...otherwise why cover it at all?
Covers are not meant to improve songs. In my opinion....they are meant to pay tribute to the creators and to draw new fans to the awesome stuff we might have not heard.
Love the Dandys, but this really is completely and totally beneath their usual high standards. The bass line alone is enough to make most ppl barf. Sorry, The Dandy Warhols. Nobody hits a home run every time. Your batting avg. is better than most.
You'd need a big sofa candles and a spliff to appreciate this Personally no thanks it does nothing for me imagine driving a car on the open Rd to this and then the original you'll understand why this is wrong And the dandy warhols did some decent enough stuff
The Warhols have been declining for over a decade and have been in a flat-out free-fall ever since "Welcome to the Monkey House". It's a shame because their first three albums are absolute classics, among the best of their time.
I like the Dandy Warhols, I love the Cult, this rendition is totally shit compared to the original, some bands should not be covering classics & the Dandys are one of those bands, ear vomit !!
Of all the covers I've heard of this song, this is surely the coolest. Very trippy.
fabulously trippy cover.
A dandy cover in a way only the Dandy's could do it !!! Love it

I live right by the St. Johns bridge. I have a 9th floor view of it. Great cover of The Cult!
groovy acid bassline, dreamy soundscape vocals and ambient evolving guitar sounds? sounds fun
I like the original,I really like this cover.the dandy warhols rock, nice one.
an amazing sound takes me back to my triping days in 1969 nice piece thank you
Chouette deux groupes que j'adore qui se mélangent 🎸🥁
Why so much hate? Good creative cover from creative band...
Alco One
Precisely.
Can't improve on an absolute genius song.
Fitting, respectively interesting, by one superb to another
Musicians have MUCH more eclectic taste than most "fans", but that's why they are musicians and fans are just fans.

brilliant take on this classic, mate !
The bass is awesome.

@@SBelawski Now I have two versions of this great song...lucky me 😁
I'm good with this cover. I think it would be cool if cult covered dandy s boys better
Nice job and great live...
This is cool - Haters don't know what there talkin about. Nice n' spacey and tripped out version The Cult classic.
the cult classic. i c wut u did der
I don't know why so many people are saying this is bad, I like this cover.
Coolest version ever ! ❤
if you're familiar with any covers the Warhols have done, you know this is pretty standard for them. check out their cover of my sharona.

Good stuff !!..
Very nice
Miles above other covers. No reason to go note for note with The Cult. Nice job Dandies,
you rock. Especially you, ZIa.
Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwww!!!!!!!!!!!! geniales como siempre...
Not even the Dandy's can do justice to this song. The original is flawless and can not be improved.

+BoscoWiggins I did that, too... back-to-back listens.. and I appreciate this one more than I did the first time or so through it. It's a great song!
like it bliss
I LOVE IT A LOT LOT LOT AND I LOVE YOU
Instrumentation is amazing.... the vocals are muddy, almost an afterthought.
I love the original version, but I respect the fact the Dandy's didnt just try to copy it, they played teh song THIER way. Kinda cool sounding, Ill listen to it again
Like this band a lot. They sound more like Jesus Jones (Not a knock) on this track. 'Tis a whole lot going on here. Let me here it 10 more times.
cffc, good version, dandy!!!
Yupiiiiiii !!!
It is what it is which isn't that bad to someone who's never heard the song before. Most their covers are ambient in comparison on purpose.
This is my first time hearing this. And I still like the vibe, a lot, but I think it needs a couple more listens. Maybe the vocals are where they should be.
Es Pooop!!!!!

Damn! I feel exactly the same, I realized that bands like the BJM kept the faith. What happened to the Warhols?? Maybe sudden success fucked them up.
That was...
It just ruled, Ok?
dandys are the best
@martinealicelena ¡And I love you! :o)
I like the vibe, a lot, but the vocals should be stronger.
Should've had Anton cover it instead
OMG what is this big shit ?? Long live to the real Cult !!!
No Gretchen guitar is the only - !
Tis OK
Love the Dandys, but this really is completely and totally beneath their usual high standards. The bass line alone is enough to make most ppl barf. Sorry, The Dandy Warhols. Nobody hits a home run every time. Your batting avg. is better than most.
Yeah, this is a good cover......but it sounds like the background music to a German shampoo commercial
Mucho mejor que la original
if it sounded like the original it wouldn't be a version, shhhh
Respect! The Andy Fuckholes masterfully butchered this song.
🤔
You'd need a big sofa candles and a spliff to appreciate this

no, no, no...
As usual, the Dandy's pull off another tune..well done.
Love this band. This cover is horrible.
Richard Mayo mets-en !
get a hearing test
Agreed on both counts dandy warhols did some decent enough stuff theve totally ruined this
The cult were iconic as was the original track by them
They should stick to singing about drugs.
Un massacre...
Wow, what a truly awful murder of a great song
It was a glorious suave murder...
NO NO NO, this is not the Dandy's at all, they could do much better ffs...
I dig this band and LOVE the song ...but this is no good.
Sorry
What a load of total crap.
Shit.
this sucks
no no and no
This cover is horrible. Zero energy!
I like the Dandy Warhols, I love the Cult, this rendition is totally shit compared to the original, some bands should not be covering classics & the Dandys are one of those bands, ear vomit !!
Bloody awful, even for this band.
jesus thats frigin terrible
It is not what's wrong with you people? Their interpretation is great!!!
