The parrot feels like it is being replaced. Most birds only get physically close to their partner, so when you hold, stroke and pet it, it thinks your it's partner.
Yep. Grooming their head and neck is usually safe, and something other flock members might do, but stroking and grooming other locations is for their lover only
StupidlyAmazing I like love birds but I think he was just kidding because they are aggressive most of the time but they aren’t really mean you know the saying birds will be birds
No, parrots are very jealous birds. The lovebird feels threatened by the chicken because it is getting most of the attention. They can be very loving towards the owner, but watch out for other animals because of their jealousy.
Well then, you need an African Grey. You may want to watch UA-cam videos that show how often and well they repeat the same sound 😄. They’re smart, loyal and loving treasures.
Yes. My chickens kill and consume many critters that are the same size or smaller than the parrot: mice, voles, snakes, moles....The 'freeze' gesture we see when the parrot is near the hen's food is a sign of submission to someone she sees as a superior. This gesture literally means, "You are the boss. I will stop eating and let you eat it instead. I will not move so you are not alarmed." Usually, older members of a flock become automatically the top of the pecking order (aka higher rank), so we see the parrot enforce this repeatedly by biting the hen's legs and kinda tormenting her by perching above her food. With that said, I hope that the parrot does not push the hen too far. Chickens are generally a very accepting creature, including many different friendly animals into their flocks (e.g. cats, dogs, humans, ducks, geese...). However, when pushed too far and feeling in danger of their safety, chickens turn on their "eye of death" and attack with speed, precision, and determination. They have reflexes and eyesight superior to ours. Anyone doubting their abilities as hunters and defenders need only search "kids attacked by chickens" (aka never turn your back and run from an annoyed, territorial chicken), "broody hen protecting chicks", and especially "chicken kills and eats mouse". I have seen my flock swarm one of my ducks when she pushes their patience to the limit and am lucky they didn't hate her enough to take out her eyes. (these are chickens that regularly want me to hug them) I no longer put her in with my hens because of this reason. Sorry for the long paragraph. This is a cute video and I really hope the parrot becomes a better companion to the chicken. Maybe feed her something that the parrot won't eat to train the parrot to stop bothering her at feeding time? Chickens eat many fresh vegetables, cooked fish, cooked meat, cooked egg, and pellets (preferably with calcium, multiple vitamins, and protein in it). Good luck with the pets! You did a great job raising her from an egg.
Laura N'imbus Wow thanks for all the info! It really clears things up. Interesting how chickens act socially with themselves and other creatures. Take care!
They’re acting this way because of jealousy, as it has to share one partner with the chicken, which isn’t a thing in the bird world. So yeah, a friend would be perfect for the fuzzy little cretin and (boom) all problems solved!

@@sheereen1984 The thing is that parrots and most birds bond with their humans to the point they think of them as their life lasting partners, they can be dangerously possessive about it, unlike dogs or cats that are not monogamous. So, parrots need to bond with more than one person to not be so possessive, mine got alone with everyone in my house, he had my sibling who he thought as his partner, but since my parrot bonded with everyone else, he did not attack us, they are very sociable and have to be carefully raised.

I feel sorry for both the parrot AND the chicken in this video :(
Sheereen Chandani I think he’s referring to the parrot seeing you as a mate instead of a member of the flock. Pretty much whenever you show anyone else attention it’s treason in the parrots mind. This can be prevented by not stroking their backs or allowing them to regurgitate for you.
@fenrif I like how you call them 'little bastards'.
Hope she finds a good balance for both of her babies. It looks stressful for everyone involved
Poor chicken. I'd hate that bird too. T^T
Mini bullies are the worst!
It normal. *FOR BIRD*
The chicken could of easily killed the parrot if it wanted to
@@handledav It reminds me of my cat Napoleon.
He's the big one. I brought in a kitten one day, (Timoteo).
The kitten hissed at him every time (which was strange because they'd been together since Timmy was born.)
Napolean avoided Timmy like the plague after that.
davidthezombieking I think the chicken wasn’t used to killing so it never came to her mind. She was too gentle I guess
well to be fair the lovebird doesnt have much attention because the chicken is the center of attention in the family
