Guys the best one is the reds pitcher hitting a home run, that was his first game back after his father passed away. He walked out to his dads favorite band, the WHO and fired a perfect inning and then went on to hit that homerun!
Koo Dae-Sung's AB was the greatest. Not to mention, it was off of Randy Johnson, and he went on to score a run. If you want a good video about it, watch Jon Bois' "Pretty Good" series. So worth it. I am so glad Koo's double was included. Gives me goosebumps every time!
My all-time favorite was Mitch Williams hitting a walk-off single in an extra inning of game 2 of a twi-night doubleheader that had some rain delays. It was after 4:30 am. Official game date was July 2, 1993, but game 2 didn't even start until 1:30 am on July 3. Their opponents were the Padres. So for a change, it was the west coast fans whose road game was getting underway at 10:30 pm local time.
Aidan Cathey there's no way you can doubt it because it happened. There video of it right on UA-cam. Also, I was delivering bread back then and was deep in my day when that game was played. Was supposed to start 5pm the day before(make up double header) but rain delayed it most of the night.
that michael lorenzen one is the best here with the story behind it. First game back after his dad's funeral and I'm pretty sure he played his dad's favorite song as a tribute for his walk up music. Legendary.
Okay, I don't know much about the nuances of baseball, but I've been watching plenty of interesting clips... Could you tell me what a reliever is, and why you would not expect him to be able to bat???
OMG THEY KILLED KENNY! Basically a reliever is a pitcher that comes in to ‘relieve’ the starter, or come in and pitch later in the game. As they normally pitch for few innings at a time, it is rare for them to get a plate appearance, and even rarer a bit.
OMG THEY KILLED KENNY! Normally relief pitchers are pinch hit for, which is when a player comes off the bench to bat. The pinch hitter is then replaced by the next pitcher in the next inning
Most of these swings were phenomenal cuts! You'd never know these guys get to come up to the plate seemingly once in a lifetime, these guys can swing the bat!
I was so perplexed by the rasiel iglesias double to the wall. The twitchy almost glitch looking leg kick, the rocket off the bat, and then he’s fucking flying like a bat out of hell. He was probably a short stop until realized he could throw 98 😂
Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz I hear that, with our luck, we'll get rid of Schebler, Gennett, Iglesias, and probably keep Mez, Homer, and Cozy to stay injured.. we've got some fire in our bats but man, this pitching is making me drink.
Everyone needs to know Michael Lorenzen’s story for his Homerun. His dad died a few days before and he hit his first MLB Homerun in his first game back
Lorenzon just hit a grand slam yesterday. Guy can seriously hit. I'm not all that impressed by Jansen as he came up as a catcher he better be able to swing a bit.
Lot of relivers were former position players Trevor Hoffman was a shortstop,I believe. Joe Nathan was a shortstop. Kenley janse and Jason motte we're catchers. Christian Bettencourt was a catcher of course.
Arthur Prior I saw a video about that. He was a relief pitcher for at least the beginning of the season, and that was his second plate appearance in his professional career (MLB, Japan, and Korea).
The thing is, these guys are all top 98th percentile in terms of athleticism. If they worked, they could all probably get a good amount of hits. Plus put these guys in high school ball and have them be an outfielder for example, than they would be top players.
00:32 The story behind this guy is so cool. Jon Bois from SB nation has a series called Pretty Good and there is an episode about Koo Dae Sung that is pretty dope.
Guys the best one is the reds pitcher hitting a home run, that was his first game back after his father passed away. He walked out to his dads favorite band, the WHO and fired a perfect inning and then went on to hit that homerun!
Michael Lorenzen is a fuckn beast dude. We absolutely love that guy in Cinc.
@@verde7595 I met him in San Diego and man he is such a cool dude. He was being such a nice guy. And man, his arms are HUGE
My cousin went to school with him
He a 2 way player he also starts sometimes and plays center field that's why he can hit
as there’s a deep drive into left field and that’ll be a home run for Castellanos making it a 4-0 ballgame

That's when I saw it for the first time!
ua-cam.com/video/_f6owc3O_gY/v-deo.html
Scored from second on a bunt too
Tyler Wickord Jon Bois is my favorite human ever
Tyler Wickord yeah it’s pretty good
Kenley Jansen had a great swing, but it seems the announcers forgot that he is a converted catcher.
kyle s what your comment makes zero sense
Danny Sanko Why doesn’t it make sense?
Danny Sanko he used to be a catcher dumass it’s literally basic English
@@Alanbaseball Yeah but he was held back as a catcher because he couldn't hit, so it's still cool to see him run into one
Danny Sanko he was a converted catcher you dyslexic freak
0:37 Tim McCarver's announcing career summed up in a statement.
Jon Bois already showed the world who Koo Dae-Sung is
he's uh.... PRETTY GOOD
THIS CROWD LOVES IT AS THEY SERENADE DAE. SUNG. KOO.
You should do AL pitchers getting a hit or something like it
Cardinal FpS I requested that in one of his older videos
Ghost well then it's a refresher!
Cardinal FpS There were two in this video, by visiting team players in NL parks in interleague games.
Cardinal FpS Daniel Norris' HR against the Cubs

How could you forget Travis Wood in relief hitting a home run in the NLCS.
Noel López *nlds
I was about to comment that as well. I was actually at that game (NLDS Game 2). It was crazy
Noel López i
You could probably make an entire video on Travis Wood alone...guy's got 11 homers in the regular season and 1 in the postseason...
My bad guys the d is right on top of the c.
Can't wait for the updated version with Archie Bradley.

Not doubting, but how is that even possible? My understanding was the MLB rule book prevents any inning from starting after 1am local time.
that game is why they established the rule

"I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this is the biggest giveup at bat so far this season." What? I can't hear you over this double
2:55 "Bryan Price knew what he was doing" that's a first
Lol
2:38 I’m surprised no one is commenting on far he raked that bomb. That’s impressive for a reliever.
The Colorado Rockies giving up hits to pitchers is a tradition. You could do a video of just hits from 2021.
that michael lorenzen one is the best here with the story behind it. First game back after his dad's funeral and I'm pretty sure he played his dad's favorite song as a tribute for his walk up music. Legendary.
0:59 - he's just as surprised as everyone else. And he runs like my Mom.
"what planet are we on" got me so bad 😂😂😂
Watching relievers round first is pretty hilarious.

You really needed the Rick Camp hit, which is the all time greatest hit by a reliever.
"Bryan Price knew what he was doing" said no one ever again
Looks like the Marlins pitchers are better hitters than the hitters themselves 😂😂😂
2:12 Lol he winds up even at-bat 😂
This is the greatest baseball highlights video ever
"What planet are we on?!"
It's so charming when pitchers get hits:)
This should be called "How Bout That?"
matt albers at 3:35 is the funniest, barely waddled his way to 2nd
Since he's a feature here, If nobody has seen the Koo Dae Sung video by Jon Bois, I highly recommend you watch it.
Watching compilations like this remind me that Gary Cohen is the best announcer in baseball and always will be
4:05 😯 mlb the show infielder animation. It really does happen in real life
0:59 He only had 2 ABs in his career, and that was one of them. Not only that, he scored from second on a bunt!
How do you not have Travis Wood going deep on the NLDS last year?????
feller3 and Arrieta homering against Bumgarner in the playoffs to end his like 23 inning playoff shut out streak.
feller3, relief pitchers.
Cirdez Travis Wood is a relief pitcher. He came in after Hendricks got hit on the arm.
Cristian Sanchez Arrieta is a starter
1:41 Why is there a reliever in the 4th when they're winning 2-0?
Griffin Stotland It was after a rain delay
Yea it's a rain delay. Notice how the dirt is still a bit moist and there aren't that many fans in the outfield.
Griffin Stotland iii
I am a Pirates fan and I watched that game that's how I knew.
Griffin Stotland Injury?
What is with Milwaukee and giving relievers hits?
Lorenzen's HR was special
Two things went to college with Lorenzen he played RF so he can hit. Great guy super nice. Also was at that game where Kenley got his RBI
No Rick Camp late inning heroics from 1985? That’s a classic reliever getting a hit right there !
This guy at :59 has the most unathletic run i've ever seen in pro sports.
Nope the white Sox player who thought the third baseman caught the balk was way worse
Atleast my reds can make it in to this video cause there sure not making to the playoffs.
Damn that honesty tho
Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz I hear that, with our luck, we'll get rid of Schebler, Gennett, Iglesias, and probably keep Mez, Homer, and Cozy to stay injured.. we've got some fire in our bats but man, this pitching is making me drink.
Yup... But we look good for next year.

Everyone needs to know Michael Lorenzen’s story for his Homerun. His dad died a few days before and he hit his first MLB Homerun in his first game back
Of course Baez gave up a HR to a damn reliever.
Skyler Felix to be fair, Michael Lorenzen was a STUD at Cal State Fullerton. Hit clean up and played center in college.
stephen evans It was also a couple days after Lorenzen’s dad passed away, he probably had more motivation than any other time to hit.
OG Mudbone yes, but my point is that it’s not just some ordinary relief pitcher. Nice name btw
Your channel is a gem. Keep it up!
The Dae-Sung Koo at bat was fantastic as a Met’s fan. Especially against the Yankees. It was hilarious to stick it to them.
This video made me feel really bad for the Rockies organization
3:34 Wow. How rare is that? An AL relief pitcher getting a hit. That's something you don't see almost ever.
Another one at 5:04
That Koo Dae-Sung hit was pretty good.
Ain't nothing like hearing that baseball getting hit.... ⚾⚾
Some of those swings were actually really good.
Do pitchers getting triples
No
I am filing that one away, good idea!
that'd be Otani san
Some of those relievers are better baserunners than a lot of position players.
What, no Archie Bradley triple in the Wild Card Game? That's a criminal omission.
August 14, 2017 was months before the triple was hit

I kinda love how they all swing like relievers
nice vid. was hoping to see some Travis Wood tho.
Jansen had a Big Papi esque swing.
Great video 👍 Love your stuff
Kelley Jansens swing is surprisingly good
Two words: Rick. Camp.
I think it's funny how a lot of the announcers reactions are, "How 'bout that!"
If you do a part 2 please include Tyson Ross as a Cardinal (he was a reliever for them)
"look at this" "how bout that"
LMAO poor Charlie Blackmon, i've seen him in so many of the clips
Where's the Travis Wood home run from the 2016 playoffs? He also made a put out in left field, dude is an athlete.
Do people forget that Jansen was a catcher before being converted to a pitcher
Trevor Hoffman hit a 2 RBI double at St. Louis in 1999 the same night Mark McGwire hit his 500th HR
I get why they don’t have the best looking swings, they’re pitchers. But why do they all run like my aunt
Mr. Koo getting a hit off of randy johnson was epic
I think Michael lorenzen was actually a started at some point but he also was used as a bench bat too lol
travis woods postseason homer
You should’ve put Bartolo Colon’s homer in just to make everyone salty.🧂
Lorenzon just hit a grand slam yesterday. Guy can seriously hit. I'm not all that impressed by Jansen as he came up as a catcher he better be able to swing a bit.
Jansen should not be that surprising because he did come up as a catcher
all these guys could probably rake the ball like none other when they were younger coming up.
Why is everyone so suprised with Jansen hitting well? He was a catcher for the Dutch WBC team before he pitched
Jansen had started his career as a catcher and didn’t start pitching until 2009, he should know how to somewhat handle a bat
You forgot hong chih kuo's homerun and that bat flip
0:32 Ladies and gentlemen, Koo Dae-Sung!
Random idea: home runs in the rain. Balls are weighted
Once again proving the saying that every highlight reel has at least one clip from Jackie Robinson Day.
Lot of relivers were former position players Trevor Hoffman was a shortstop,I believe. Joe Nathan was a shortstop. Kenley janse and Jason motte we're catchers. Christian Bettencourt was a catcher of course.

Weston Airey Balls fly 15 percent further at Coors field which helps.

Pitchers be like:
“I’ll do it myself”
1:45 ah typical pirate baserunning
Mets pitchers know how to HIT! lol Dae Sung Koo was a starter tough not a reliever. He might have been a reliever that game but he was a starter.

I love how like half of these are against the Rockies
Pitchers getting walked
