I’m gradually getting back on top of publishing twice a week... making up a lot of ground! Thanks for being with me on this round the world tour, enjoy the little teaser of Saudia at the end... Next week I move into some really exciting stuff and I leave Europe and start ticking off some cool airlines. Saudia first, then Citilink, Malindo, Thai, Scoot, Jetstar, Cathay Pacific and lots more! Also, thanks for the polite and constructive feedback you’ve given me about the sound levels. I’m almost there with it now! I really appreciate all the comments you guys leave and I really do read every one, even if I can’t give everyone a response. Q and A coming in a couple of weeks and some exciting channel changes shortly after that 😊😊
Paul's Trip Reports Hi Paul! Love watching your videos...great job informing us of all the Aircraft! May I ask what your occupation is? Do you travel as a hobby or for your job? Either way, we always look forward to your posts...happy travels and stay safe!
Hi 🙋 liking the new concept, but just a thought .. not everyone has access to these airport lounges you visit everytime you travel, so have you ever thought about adding maybe a brief look at the various food and drink areas available in and around the airport instead ? Would change it up a bit🍵🍴
The Airfield "North of Rome" is "Oscar Savini" Aeroporto - Bracciano, Lazio, Italy, Parts of the 1st Air Support Regiment of the "Hydra" Army (1º Reggimento di sostegno aviazione dell'Esercito "Idra”) are located at the airfield 42° 4'58.68"N 12° 4'28.94"E
It's funny going back to Paul's old videos and seeing people say this. I've only started watching recently, and the old videos without a voiceover are what seem weird to me.
The standard pitch on Alitalia's A320 family in Economy class is 30, not 29 inches. The worst row on Alitalia A319, is row 9, as the pitch is very bad. Usually when flight attendants see tall people seating in that row, they look for other available seats and offer the passengers to move to another seat. ACE juice is not for everybody, but trust me, it's a very nice mix and helps you boosting the vitamins in your body.
Paul's Trip Reports Oh you should try Transavia, pitch well below the 30 and very thick seats, not to mention they are usually not very clean. That's the worst seat I ever had. Alitalia has Recaro slim seats on their A320 family, but I agree they are not super slim like the ones of some airlines.
You've got a gift for the voice-over, Paul. Your concise and informative observations make what were already fine videos even more comprehensive and valuable.
Flew my first flight yesterday. Went with Flybe (BE1035) from Manchester to Aberdeen. I can now understand why you do your travelling thing. Okay, so my flight was only a short 1 hour regional flight, but I loved it all the same and I have a better understanding of why people get that "flying bug". Hell, I even encountered an aborted landing and go-around procedure in that flight. Of all the times to happen, it just happened to be on my first flight. Really looking forward to my next flight (BE377) from Exeter to Manchester. And as I've said in previous comments, you've been instrumental in inspiring me to try flying. I'm gonna get my passport sorted out and get out and about some day soon. ☺️
That’s awesome! The best thing about running a UA-cam channel is getting comments like this where people have been inspired to try something new for themselves. 👍🏻
Thank you, Paul....again, I am binge watching your travel reports & reviews. Your channel relaxes me.....Especially, after pulling a 12 hour shift in Intensive Care or the ER.
Love the new format, Paul! So much more fluid & less structured than your previous vids...it gives an overall sense of anticipation of what's to come next. The only critique I could offer: during the non-speaking parts (pre-takeoff, etc), a random text box with descriptions or observations would be a good addition to kind of match the old style.
Actually, Alitalia has been flying to South America for over 70 years without interruption (other than the short period when the old Alitalia went bankrupt and was grounded). This is not surprising, considering the huge number of people with Italian ancestry in the continent, especially in Brazil and Argentina. Both São Paulo and Buenos Aires have more people with Italian ancestry than Milan, and even their respective local accents of Portuguese and Spanish have very strong Italian influence in pronunciation, intonation, and vocabulary, brought about by the large number of immigrants who came in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Many Italian companies also have large investments in South America, such as FIAT, Parmalat, and TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile).
Hugh, the version I know is slightly different: the Argentines would be Italians who think they're English, but speak Spanish. There are some much more cruel definitions of them, but I'll refrain from posting them, as in fact I love that country and its people.
Caracas, Venezuela was proudly served by Alitalia since the end of WW2 until recently. “Only a 22 hour flight,” said an ad from 1952, when they upgraded from DC-4s to DC-6s...
+Gustavo Machado, yes, but unfortunately, like most international airlines, Alitalia pulled out of Venezuela when the country's extremely unstable economic and political situation, and the near-impossibility of performing currency exchange operations made Alitalia simply unable to cash the revenue of tickets sold in local currency. A couple of years later, the Venezuelan government is said to still owe Alitalia hundreds of millions of euros in withheld funds. The few remaining foreign carriers in Venezuela are only accepting payment directly in strong currency (which is technically illegal in Venezuela, but widely practiced and tolerated). After ending the Caracas service, Alitalia flew to Bogotá instead for a while, but later axed that route as well. Now its only South American destinations are São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, and Santiago.
Paul , love your vlogs ... I don't know if I have mentioned in the past but my Dad was a Chief Steward for Qantas for 30 odd years from the mid 50's when on flying boats out of Rose Bay in Sydney. I have always been fascinated with flight and you do a good job of satisfying my addiction ... Thank you
Your videos really are getting better and better. I'm fascinated to find out your take on Saudia. I have flown with them a few times. I'll reserve my own judgement on them. I have just checked some of my old aviation charts - it is my guess that the airfield you point out is Rome Urbe. Thanks for your excellent work. I'm excited for your next video.
Great Video! You have managed to get the voiceover sorted with the correct balance too. As far as I am aware WOW Air also prints their name on the wing (or a caption like ‘Best seat in the house’)
I fly Alitalia to Milano Linate when going to milan for a break, I am a tall person and I have to pay extra to get extra leg room. Though I love flying with them, I have always found the service to be quick and the people working for them polite. Great review :)
Another good video, Paul. I've only flown Alitalia once and that was in 1977! Tel Aviv-Bombay-Singapore-Sydney on one of their 747's. There is a route you couldn't do today on the one aircraft. LOL. The service then was great and economy seats comfortable - unlike on your flight.
Very good trip report, I think Japan Airlines and ANA also print their respective names (including their regionals and subsidiaries) on the top of the wing
Definitely agree about the legroom. I flew Düsseldorf-Rome in an Alitalia A320 in May 2017, and the legroom was horrible, my height (202cm/6'8") and the fact i was stuck in a middle seat didn't exactly help.
My first trip to the Middle East was with Gulf Air in 1988. Loved the service and in those days we had to choose non smoking seats 💺. Ihr to Bahrain was excellent and then Bahrain to muscat and muscat to BKK. Where we were shoe horned into something for the last leg to Kai Tak. How about flying the Phoenix and doing a trip on Gulf Air. No longer available to HKg unfortunately.
Dear Paul ... first of all I would like to give my compliments to you for such a great vlogs that you use to do ... You got the perfect voice to do it and a sweet english accent that makes fall in love everybody... The airfield that you've been asking It's a military helicopter airfield (OSCAR SAVINI) which is on the west side of Lake Bracciano... that point of the map is one of the most highly reference for all the flights coming to rome when the rwys 16R and 16L are operating.... Hope to receive your greetings... and my highly compliments for your Program!!!!... Arrivederci Paolo
I spent quite a lot of time in Milan, Bologna and Rome giving me the opportunity to fly Alitalia in Italy and in Europe. When they flew the MD80's they actually had what we Americans call domestic first class 2x2 seats in business. They staff while stylish, don't much like to mingle with their customers, and usually disappear into the galley with the curtain drawn tightly around. They have way more staff then they seem to need with the young guys chatting up the young gals for most of the work day.
I like these new style reports and the volume of the music is turned down, thanks very much for that !! What i don like is the fast forward just before landing, that part is not boring Paul, at least for me.
So here from the future, but i tried the Orange Lemon Carrot Juice and its REALLY GOOOOOOOOOOD ❤ tastes vary of course, but tried it with and without ginger, it sounds like it doesn't go together but like dipping sea salt fries in a vanilla milkshake, it works 😂
Last February, I flew Swiss from Zurich to Athens in Economy. If I remember correctly, it was aboard a 320. I also found the leg room very tight and sitting next to the window, I was afraid I'd get claustrophobic. I just concentrated on looking out the window the entire flight. Otherwise, Swiss' service was excellent.
Great video. Your content and the overall quality has improved so much. Look forward to your videos every week. Note to self: at 6’2”, I should avoid Alitalia economy
Great video, the content is so much better with every video! Looking forward to your Saudi flight, I have mixed expectations on them as an airline. Just a small thing Paul - your watermark on the bottom right corner of the screen is still of your old logo
At first you have to get used to the voiceovers a bit. But now I think that they make the already very good videos even better and increase the quality (of my favorite trip reporter's videos)! Cheers!
Many airlines had their name and aircraft registration on both top and bottom of the wings until at least the 1980s, maybe later. The practice has been generally discontinued in recent decades.
Flight attendant at 6:20. Fit as. I do love pencil skirts. I'm not trying to sound pervy, I just think she was very pretty. I apologise for being a red blooded male. But, about the flight, your trip reports are always first class Paul and very detailed. I've never flown alitalia, and after this probably won't ever, but it's nice to hear somebody else's review. Keep up the superb work, as I look forward to every report that you do.
I am going to have to look up the Priority Pass thing, as you mention it a lot. Also, thanks for the heads-up about the seat pitch. I /am/ a tall guy! 31" is pushing it, for me. Could it be Vigno di Valle? If it's northwest of the city, that's the only name I can find. I don't see water near it though, and it was originally a seaplane base.
Great stuff, Paul. I really like the voiceovers that you are doing on this round the world tour. Quick question - did you do a voiceover in the hotel in the evening or just wait until you got home?
I would have taken the train between the two cities. It works out faster. However as you said, most were connecting, so the train isn't the best option.
If the seat pitch was 29 inches, that was only 1 less than the CS300 you had to Milan. Good video, I wouldn’t fly Alitalia, so good for trying such a troubled airline.
I absolutely love your videos will there be more than 1 upload a week in the near future. But as always great video I always look forward to them ✈️✈️🛬🛬
Haha, Italians know how to make coffee. As far as the company is concerned, they actually have a lot of passengers and in the 2nd quarter they claim their EBITDA will be balanced. Just like Air Berlin it's the debt that is the problem, not a lack of customers. That's why so many investors including Lufthansa want to buy it - but without the debt, of course. Lovely video again, was waiting for that one!

Paul's Trip Reports ACE juice is really awesome! Give it a try next time :)
the airport is Oscar Savini
The voiceovers have really added value to your trip reports, Paul.
- added "value" ?! You must work in marketing or something --- without the word "value", your sentence would have worked much better...
Hi 🙋 liking the new concept, but just a thought .. not everyone has access to these airport lounges you visit everytime you travel, so have you ever thought about adding maybe a brief look at the various food and drink areas available in and around the airport instead ? Would change it up a bit🍵🍴
Good suggestion
When you said you were gonna up the content of you channel, you weren't kidding. Congratulations on your great results 👍
Ps, Google maps likes coordinate in 42° 4'58.68" 12° 4'28.94" Or 42.083, 12.0747 formats if you want to look at the Airfield
You should definitely try ACE juice next time! It's awesome!
The voice over has definitely grown on me
It's funny going back to Paul's old videos and seeing people say this. I've only started watching recently, and the old videos without a voiceover are what seem weird to me.
ACE-Juice is super tasty and refreshing. Quite popular in Germany. At least give it a try. :-D

@@Paul_Lucas Them seats are *THICC!*
These new style reports really are worth the extra work that goes into them. I'm really enjoying this round the world trip so far. Well done!
2:01 ACE is actually pretty popular in Italy and pretty good

Amazing trip Report! I’m flying Alitalia’s a320 from Venice to Rome in about 7 hours!
Thank you, Paul....again, I am binge watching your travel reports & reviews. Your channel relaxes me.....Especially, after pulling a 12 hour shift in Intensive Care or the ER.
You are amazing and give me a lot of inspiration to travel. You always are being superated by yours. WELL DONE!!!!
Hello from Toledo, Spain
I wasn't so sure about the narration when you first said you would be doing it but it's certainly been working out really well.
Love the new format, Paul! So much more fluid & less structured than your previous vids...it gives an overall sense of anticipation of what's to come next. Two thumbs up…Great report….Like your new style…Cheers form Canada. The Armchair Traveler.
Lovely attention to detail trip report. Big like and subscribed -:))
Thanks!
Didn't know about GPS working even on flight mode - thanks Paul!
Nice one, Paul. The Espresso looked good, just like my nona used to make us. Cheers.
The orange juice makes the carrot juice lighter and is a perfect combination.
2:02 That juice is the best. Whenever I visit family I have it!
The airport you were asking about at 8.00 is the "Oscar Salvini Airport", north of Rome: 42°05'02.0"N 12°04'33.4"E
Nice one. I am impressed by the amount of video you capture on your flights especially so when hemmed in Economy.
2:59 only true Italians can recognise the man behind the screen
Great video, like the route maps feature and enjoy looking at those airport lounges. That coffee looked real good.
Great report! EI-IME shows stored at FCO as of 06/2018..

loved logging into youtube and see my notifications saying you uploaded new content!keep up the great content Paul, and safe travels as always!
I'm loving the narrations, very comfortable to watch!
Having just commented on the flight from LHR, I said my opinions on the A319, Glad you have the same feelings and understand my 6" problems. :)
I think your channel is great Paul. I love these reports and really wish you could publish more often! Thank you for what you do
Excellent voice over. Camera editing getting to the premier standard!! Very good flow thru the terminal as well. thank you.
This is the best tripreport I have ever seen!
Just found your channel and starting with these world trip reports. Great content. Thanks for your efforts.
Thank you Paul. Because of you I get to see place that I know I will never be able to go to myself
So thank. Keep up the good work
I fly Alitalia to Milano Linate when going to milan for a break, I am a tall person and I have to pay extra to get extra leg room. Though I love flying with them, I have always found the service to be quick and the people working for them polite. Great review :)
Really loving the narration mate, really excited to see more from this trip!

An amazing world trip and great video reports Paul, giving me a lot of inspiration to travel this year. Tokyo and the Far East!
Another great report Paul, can't wait for the Saudi video!

It's great to follow your trip Paul - keep em coming! :-)
Hi, Paul
I love the voice overs. They bring a nice personal quality to great videos
Another excellent trip report. Unbelievable that Alitalia is still actually flying. Indeed has there ever been a time they were profitable?
My first trip to the Middle East was with Gulf Air in 1988. Loved the service and in those days we had to choose non smoking seats 💺. Your content is always enjoyable to watch Paul! Very informative as usual!
The weekend isn't over. Great video, as always!

Great report and love the detail. I am travelling through Linate in a few weeks and appreciate the info!
I didn't know ANY airlines printed their name on top of the wing,
Great report mate
I like these new style reports and the volume of the music is turned down, thanks very much for that !!
What i don like is the fast forward just before landing, that part is not boring Paul, at least for me.
This is my first time watching you, ,and I enjoyed it . THANK YOU
Love your channel can't wait for next week keep up the good work
So here from the future, but i tried the Orange Lemon Carrot Juice and its REALLY GOOOOOOOOOOD ❤ tastes vary of course, but tried it with and without ginger, it sounds like it doesn't go together but like dipping sea salt fries in a vanilla milkshake, it works 😂

I also found the leg room very tight and sitting next to the window, I was afraid I'd get claustrophobic. I just concentrated on looking out the window the entire flight. The new livery of Alitalia is dramatic. The old livery with Old cabin is Nice.
Great video I feel like i'm actually watching a travel show very informative ..def like it Paul!!
Paul, I am now wondering how the service is going to be with Saudia.
Thank you for sharing your video with us!!
I've finally subscribed to your channel! Excited for your future content!
ACE Juice is Actually pretty good, it’s very sweet and fruity.
Linate reminds me somehow London City Airport, can’t wait to the next trip report with Saudi !
Well done! The airport north of Rome might be Viterbo
Great. Looking forward to the next leg!!
Another great report Paul! Great stuff mate.

I recorded it yesterday - been home for a couple of weeks now!
Paul's Trip Reports - great memory - I’d have forgotten most of it 👍🏻
Great edit and music selection Paul!
Im flying on Alitalia soon from LHR-NAP with stopovers at Linate. Can't wait to see how bad they are
Why you say they’re bad?
I would have taken the train between the two cities. It works out faster. However as you said, most were connecting, so the train isn't the best option.
If the seat pitch was 29 inches, that was only 1 less than the CS300 you had to Milan. Good video, I wouldn’t fly Alitalia, so good for trying such a troubled airline.
Try the ACE juice. It will surprise you ! 😉😉
Was just about to go to bed, but I can wait another eleven minutes :-)
Certainly looking forward to that.
I absolutely love your videos will there be more than 1 upload a week in the near future. But as always great video I always look forward to them ✈️✈️🛬🛬
Great Review ! Looking forward to the next part..
Haha, Italians know how to make coffee. As far as the company is concerned, they actually have a lot of passengers and in the 2nd quarter they claim their EBITDA will be balanced. Nice....Fly safe always....Happy Holidays
love the BA lounge
at linate
Enjoyed that, everything was perfect.
Great Vlog the vid looks great and hope the flight is very good
Very much looking forward to your flight on Saudia!
Why are captions on by default? First thing I do on your videos is turn them off.
So, my quick research tells me that Alitalia reported only one year of profit since its foundation in 1946. That is...breathtaking.
Need more economy class reviews Paul
