I bought it and am unable to open the battery cover. I've liked up tips and everywhere just said to remive the cover. Is there a trick to removing it? Do I pull it up or slide it?
It is pretty stiff because there’s a seal under it too, it lifts up. I’d try using something in the small indented area to prise it gently
Using the hub, can you set it up so that you get a notification when one sensor reads a higher temperature than another sensor?
Just wondering whether this is possible with the app or IFTTT or anything else?
In the switchbot app you can have scenes that can have multiple conditions so you could have one that sends a notification of the downstairs meter is above 25 degrees AND the outside meter is above 26 degrees for example…you can also set these as OR as well
I just reposted this question in the main section. "What we're looking to do is place one on each directional side (N,S,E, and W) of the house outside. Then compare those temperature and Humidity combinations to those indoors and open or close windows and drapes accordingly... can it / they be used to do that?"
Forgive the stupid questions. Would this work for camping without any phone or wifi signal? One inside and one outside the tent for comparison?
It would work but you wouldn't be able to get the data off of it without a phone/bluetooth connection so not sure you'd be able to compare much
@@MarksTechVlogs thank you for the reply. Id have my mobile, but there's no phone signal where we camp.
@@Rick-gb5jj Ah, that should be fine for comparing things in the Switchbot app..it does seem to open fine with no connection and via bluetooth you'll be able to monitor the two sensors
@@MarksTechVlogs brilliant. Thought it would be interesting for winter camping. Thanks
@@Rick-gb5jj I have to say winter camping sounds like my idea of hell! 🥶
I have mine set up and I have to wait for history to upload each time I open the app. Is this how it's supposed to work? Is there a setting to constantly update the app? Will I need a hub for that feature?
Yeah, you'll need a hub for it to constantly update
So you must have the Hub for the sensors to work? It can't work with just the app? Looking at them on Amazon they have a three sensor pack with no Hub but they don't state plainly that you must have a Hub or Hub 2 for this to work . If it can work without the Hub, can view the current temperatures in the app and the data collected so far? Or is that some kind of a download kind of thing where you can't really monitor the current conditions? Man, I'm glad someone made a video on these things or else I would have had to just buy them and find out after.
They do work without the hub but you can only access their current state and data when you’re in Bluetooth range with your phone 😀
@@MarksTechVlogs So they could still be used as a data logger without the Hub. Then maybe I could buy the rest of the system later and use it as intended. I don't really have much to monitor or control at the moment. What I do have is a central AC unit that checks out in every way they can measure, nonetheless, it has stopped cooling after 8 years. So it's a troubleshooting thing for now and more data is always better.
Thanks man. That's exactly what I needed to know.
Are the AAA batteries in the unit replaceable?
I'd like to use the unit to monitor garden temperature for growing dragon fruits. If I'm indoors out of Bluetooth range I'd need to buy the hub that gets within Bluetooth range and connects the monitor via wifi correct?
I’ve just opened mine to check and yes they are just normal AAA batteries you can replace.
And yes, you’re correct about the hub 😀
What we're looking to do is place one on each directional side (N,S,E, and W) of the house outside. Then compare those temperature and Humidity combinations to those indoors and open or close windows and drapes accordingly... can it / they be used to do that?
Yeah you could use them like that, you would just use the switchbot app to setup scenes based on the outside temperature and humidity and then control the devices you want to
how can i turn off the IP65 when i don t need it to avoid it from running off battery?
It shouldn’t impact battery life as it’s just the seal of the unit and not its behavior
I'm looking to monitor the temperature of different apartments in one building and compare it to when the outside temp drops below a certain temp. Do you know if the data export options allow for comparison across different devices?
It gets exported as a CSV but it looks like you only export one meter at a time which would mean exporting all individually and then merging the spreadsheets in excel
Thank you!@@MarksTechVlogs
This may be a dumb question, but will it tell me if it will rain or snow?
Afraid not, it can only give the current humidity level
@@MarksTechVlogs Thank you!
Is it possible to display the indoor/outdoor thermometer sensor temp on the Switchbot 2 hub screen?
Sadly not, the display on the hub 2 will only show its own metrics
How do I get battery cover off for first use?
You shouldn't need to, you should just pull out the plastic tab and it'll work. If you need to open the battery cover this might help support.switch-bot.com/hc/en-us/articles/13071920187287-How-long-will-my-SwitchBot-Outdoor-Meter-battery-life-last-#:~:text=When%20replacing%20batteries%2C%20open%20your,this%20may%20damage%20your%20device.
How to you switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit?
In the switchbot app go to profile on the bottom and then it’s under the preferences menu
@@MarksTechVlogs Thanks so much Mark! That was driving me crazy.
how do u connect it to wifi?
It connects to WiFi via the switchbot hub
