My wife and I love this movie so much we spent oursome of our Irish honeymoon in cong. The town is so beautiful as i Ashford Castle where we stayed, as did O'hara and Wayne.
My Mother always made us watch the Quiet Man,when we where kids.........Maureen looks so frail but graceful.....God bless her. Sadly my Ma is no longer with us but occasions like this will always keep her in my mind. Thank you for uploading this.
What a wonderful woman. She looks beautiful. Maureen was a great defender of The Duke before Congress. Ignore any idiotic comments here and pay tribute to a true ICON.
True, she was a beauty. Always carried herself with class. Another Irish classic from that period is Darby O Gill and the little people staring a young Sean Connery, definitely recommend if you liked the Quiet Man.
Another historic day for Cong...and wonderful to see such a great lady back among friends...the 'Queen' comes home....Long live "The Quiet Man.. ...Up Mayo!
Truly remarkable to see her revisiting the place where she filmed her favorite and beautiful film :) And she still has the same beauty and lovely voice, May God Rest Her Soul
One of my personal favorite movies. My family can all agree that we love that film. We can, and do, quote it frequently in our everyday lives. My mother used to tell me that her father(10 children, bless her mother's soul), had an accent like Barry Fitzgerald. Sadly I never knew the man. But I at least can imagine him speaking with Barry's voice. Quite a lot to be rolled into one movie.
I too remember Maureen and all the other great stars from my youth as well. They were larger than life people, stars today dress and act so crudely. Maureen is a tough lady who still has the spark of the young Irish in her soul. She is in her 90's and she is not wearing glasses and she can walk with assistance - a feat many cannot nor will live to be able to do. She was most beautiful in her youth and her life has been a long and rich one. I hope she has enjoyed the journey thus far. Best wishes Maureen.
Absolutely true, the elegance and class of these old stars isn’t always present in modern day actresses. There are timely exceptions of course. May she rest in peace.
This is just amazing and fantastic for me to watch... lovely lady, lovely locations and lovely vehicle.. Looks like she is being crowded and spooked a bit.. I hope she had sense to get some private time when she was there too.... to soak up the atmosphere and the golden memories..
it is an absolute disgrace on the part of the academy awards that this lady has still not recieved an honorary oscar, please give her one while she is still with us!
Look how our people are so proud of this beautiful and stunning woman. What a lady, Actress and singer. She may be feeling a little sad going through this little town and remembering those days gone by when she was with her best friend the Duke and many of her family and friends that are no longer here. How times have changed. She was a natural beauty and still is for sure. God rest this remarkable woman.
Oh I would have LOVED to have been there! Too bad I live an ocean away! I have Maureen's autograph but would love to meet such an iconic legend! One of the last living greatest actresses from the BEST era in film!
The village of cong is my idea of paradise, it's outstandingly beautiful and the people are the same. If you fancy a holiday in "old" Ireland, then look no further.
The day Mary Kate Dunner nee Thorton, came back to Cong on it's 60th anniversary of The classic The Quiet Man! Another one of John Ford's masterpieces. The likes of John Wayne, and a few others long asleep in death by this visit and now asleep in death our lovely Mary Kate (Maureen O'Hara! Long for the paradise on earth to begin and all these wonderful human beings are resurrected on an earth that is as beautiful as Ireland, lush and green, clean and bright! That is how the entire planet will be for those who survive and those who are brought back here (not in these terrible conditions we find ourselves in now).
i'm in this video! i was there and watched the whole thing, it was such a great thing to see such an amazing woman. my great uncle is the old man in the grey jumper who shakes her hand :)
It makes me sad to see someone as beautiful get old. To having just watched her in The Parent Trap and see her in this breaks my heart. Glad she is still with us though.
Yes I too, yet it is a sad reality of life and no one stays young forever, lest the rich and powerful would have already bought their immortality. For myself, I hope to make it to social security age.
OMG....she is riding in the same model car that carried the Bishop to Innisfree!. It is darker green now and in the movie it was a medium blue. It may be the same car!
Ahora acaban de remasterizar, El hombre tranquilo es maravillosa, la película y lo que en ella sale. Este verano he pasado mis vacaciones en Cong (Innisfree) y no se puede describir, hay que ir. Gracias Maureen, muchas gracias Mary Kate Danaher
I created a group to honor Maureen and John Wayne. It is Maureen And Duke ~ "Forever In Our Hearts" Facebook Group. It features the Quiet Man and their other 4 films together, as well as their individual films. Come check it out. It's very nice. Happy Easter everyone!
1) Bless you dear. A smashing film. Ireland is indeed a poor Country. A bit more industry in the West would benefit everyone. Work is good for us and you even get paid at the end of the week. You learn new skills and new ways of doing things. It can be fun too. I camped on Achill Island back in the 60's near Keem. There were not a lot of people about, no crumpet. Perhaps they were all in the fields digging praties. Make strangers more welcome and they might even come back.
Maureen O'Hara still looks great. Does anyone know who are the people in the back of the car? Are they relatives of Maureen O'Hara? Also, what make and model car is in the video?
I loved that film one of my all time greats
God love and bless you Maureen O Hara, you are a wonderful and beautiful human being !
My wife and I love this movie so much we spent oursome of our Irish honeymoon in cong. The town is so beautiful as i Ashford Castle where we stayed, as did O'hara and Wayne.
A true lady sorely missed. The world was a better place for her having been here. She lives on through her movies.
My Mother always made us watch the Quiet Man,when we where kids.........Maureen looks so frail but graceful.....God bless her. Sadly my Ma is no longer with us but occasions like this will always keep her in my mind. Thank you for uploading this.
So sad she's gone. One of the last of the great movie legends...RIP

Favorite actress...she was such a beauty. One of my all time favorite films ever!

Well able to act. John ford made her career, I have it on fairly good authority that she was very tight with the spondulicks.
What was her age here....
"Look at them! Eatin' me outta house and home!

Why were they playing bagpipes? That's a Scottish instrument! Uilleann pipes are Irish, damn it.
eire has a cricket team....
+Dr HEMP eire means burden. Use the damn fada. ÉIRE means Ireland! And who cares?? This wasn't a cricket team parade...
+Gaeilgeoir anywonder children hate irish at school....
+Gaeilgeoir The modern Irish Éire evolved from the Old Irish word Ériu, which was the name of a Gaelic goddess....
+Dr HEMP Which still has a fada.
