Easily one of my all time favorite patterns. I’ve caught fish with this pattern no matter the month and at any time from dusk till dawn. Confidence fly at its finest.
Hi steve great video . I just wanted to say as i noticed you removing hair from stacker .do you not put the tips of the hair in the stacker 1st rather than the cut base end in. Im just curious as i havent seen hair stacked that way.i suppose it depends on how level u want the wing posts tips but i would think the cut ends stack easier than the tips.
When I snip the hair from the hide I clean off the butts and the tips. I try to get rid of any small hairs, then i put it in the stacker, pull it out and clean the butts off again before I tie it in.
sorry for the late reply. stacking the natural tip ends looks way nicer than stacking the clipped ends. The clipped ends give it a blunt end kinda like a bad hair cut. however, yes they would stack much easier. Stacking and tying calf body hair tends to be a big pain! Honestly using white yarn for the post is the easiest and the fish really don't care. But for the sake of tying the traditional Parachute Adams I used the calf body hair.
The materials in this pack make tying this really hard. The hackles are really flimsy and the calf body hair fibers were a little short. Usually comes with pretty good stuff. Yours came out great Steve. Mine is all over the floor and my desk lol
@@smittysflybox it’s all good man. I probably just need to practice patience. Zen. Wax on wax off kinda stuff and I will get it nailed. I don’t have the subscription I just bought 2 packages from sportsman’s warehouse in Oregon. The bead head pheasant tail was a great one for a beginner. And I caught a fish on it the first day I tried. Was my first fish on a nymph and my first fish on a fly I tied Myself and my ONLY fish of the day. How incredibly satisfying that was
@@IMKINDOFABIGDEAL13 man that's awesome! That is what we like to hear. It sounds like you are well on your way! Honestly I have package sitting here with your name on it. I just went back in the warehouse and picked some calf body hair and some different hackle for you to try. Please send me an email on the contact info on the package and I'll get this sent out to you.
@@smittysflybox you rock man. Appreciate it a ton. I am tying up my first large batch of zebra midges as we speak trying to just train my motor skills a bit better because honestly that is probably a big part of the trouble I am having. But e mail is on its way and I have a feeling I will be joining the subscription service really soon.

Ours too!! Hands down one of the best all time.
Excellent video lesson as always, I have learned so much over the years watching Smittys videos.
Thank you Jimmy
Whiting Saddle hackle was used in the video for the parachute . I misspoke and mentioned strung hackle- my bad!
