I'll never understand why they think we want to see them eat stuff all the time in a gameshow type setting, instead of them just being themselves and telling any sort of stories.
Am I the only one who thinks that a run-down Biosphere 2 would be a brilliant setting for a survival horror game? The story could be that your character was in it when it somehow almost got destroyed, and the gameplay consists of you going around the ruins trying to piece together what happened, all while decreasing oxygen amounts in the air gradually make you go insane and have crazy hallucinations.
Taking a tour of the Biosphere2 is so cool though! It may not have been a successful experiment but the different biomes are so amazing to walk through.
***** Y'know, it's always weird seeing your pic and username because I have a classmate that looks exactly like you, just maybe a couple years younger, and is also named Ciarra. kinda freaky o.o
I've actually visited the biosphere twice and it is amazing. When you visit there, they actually tell you about the people that went inside and they show you a video along with it. They walk you through the different biomes and tell you each what they were used for and what they are meant to simulate. They also have hotels by the biosphere so you can stay longer and enjoy it. 10/10 would recommend.
My Astronomy teacher is a long time friend with Taber MacCallum, who lived in Biosphere 2 and met his wife in there (Oh hey, she's Jane Poynter). Let me tell you, he had an interesting video of Taber fighting with another man over a potato. Taber and Jane co-founded Paragon Space Development together.
I love how these episodes are always so timely with themes of my life. Just prepped a 3 hour discussion about Indigenous relationships with the land. Get on guys, love your stuff.
I was there in the BNL auditorium. It was Mr .BNL which is a talent show for men! My friends and I were so happy that you put our video in your video! THANKS!
Mina F It was so fun!! I would definitely go again! Honestly, and this is more about the course and the people rather than the B2, but there were so many amazing memories made there that I will never forget.
I probably won't do it.... Cuz there probably won't be any wifi... Which will lead to no UA-cam and no Instagram and no tumblr and no pintrest and no Twitter and I just... Can't do it.😜😜
they shouldn't have had any livestock, they shouldn't have added all those pointless biomes, and they should have added the plants gradually so they could acclimatize.
If they'd done the livestock better it would've been a good idea, i.e. choose something that doesn't eat as much and have a livestock farmer in the biome. People need protein and the plants that give protein are difficult to grow.
***** Sounds like he wasn't eating enough. Healthy males need 3000 calories a day to sustain themselves. I myself eat 3000 in plant foods alone and I'm just 5'3 and female
8:12 Nostalgia just hit me in the face as i suddenly, vividly remember the smell that arose from my jarred snail as i opened the lid after multiple days lol
Link: "Well, are they still there, now?" Rhett: "No. That's because biosphere 2...was a HUGE failure." Me: " GASP*!" (rolled movie clip) Me: "hahahaha!" (the part of the finger) ME: "UGH!!" guardiangarasu mars is used for a backup if anything bad happens on earth we can’t just send 7 billion people to a biosphere on earth there wouldn’t be any space
I went there for a field trip in fourth grade a while back. It was so much fun. Seeing all of the different environments was amazing and it seemed like a different place each time. It was phenomenal. I Highly recommend going
Biosphere2 was so incredibly cool. My tour guide was actually one of the people allowed into the Biosphere during one of the lockdowns, and he talked about how hellish their diet was. Anyways, super cool place, gorgeous architecture.
I'm tired as hell, just completed homework, but I have to watch GMM cos it's part of my daily routine and I'll rather die if I don't watch it. It's 12+ midnight now. Curse school.
I want you guys to make a comedy movie SO BADLY. Like something Night at the Roxbury or Happy Gilmore-tier. I know that it's different from 3-minute long songs or commercials, but it's just like one really ~long~ commercial! You guys could totally do it. And it would be awesome.
I'd do it... and internet's possible and self sustainable with solar and air flow. You need trained individuals and maybe even children to be raised and educated in there to learn that way of life in order to have a better grasp of what to do and what not to do. It's just that they didn't have the right people in there and safety precautions were not the best. I'd say for this experiment you want a bio engineer, a doctor, a nurse, a psychiatrist, a general engineer, a physicist, a botanist and a mathematician. Each would play a key role in the research and lifestyles of one another rather than being randomly selected individuals with little understanding, a wide skill group would function more efficiently. with a fair bit being on medical and environmental knowledge.
I actually went to visit Biosphere 2 for a 4th grade field trip when I lived in Arizona! It was really cool! They used to have animals in it, and we got a tour and videos and everything! We learned about conservation of water and all that fun stuff. This was of course, a couple years after the team that lived in it left.
XxTwistedFalconXx I'm assuming it's a Canon t5i, Canon t3i, Canon 60D, or something along the lines of those. Those are the most commonly chosen among UA-camrs. :)
Other things which caused issues: - Local ants were accidentally carried into the biosphere and they dominated the environment as a result. - The wind system wasn't strong enough to assist the trees in the biosphere to grow straight (wind helps strengthen the trunk) so after a certain height all of the trees drooped over and continued to grow that way. As another commenter mentioned - the tour is really cool.
I live in a city called Oro valley which was close to Biosphere 2 and I remember that back in the 80's when the experiement was going on, you could not go hunting within a ten mile radius of the Biosphere in fear that a bullet could break the glass of the compound and leak the air out of the structure. And if you were found hunting in the area around bisosphere, you could be fined up to $2,000!
SNAP. I wish I would've watched this before my state test today because I completely blanked on what an El Niño year was!! Lesson learned. Always watch GMM before testing.
Hay for real please go take a tour of this amazing place. And show us I'm begging you guys. I love the educational episodes as well as all the others. I think people would love to see you guys do this. Not sure if you guys are even still doing these shows but you should start back up.. I mean keep the legend going please for the sake of all of your fans you gotta get the proverbial band back together lol DO ITTTT
Asa Goldsmith Same here. I watched it at around 10 pm and for the first time in years I had a little bit of trouble sleeping because of something I watched on TV lol.
I have been to the biosphere 2 twice and it is REALLY COOL! I got a fern that never dies from the gift shop. The whole time they were talking about the biosphere I was just thinking to myself "they seriously didn't know that?!" I probably just know because I live in AZ and, like I said before, have been to the biosphere 2 twice.
The Hostilians yeah.. But he has like 35million subscribers.. GMM has not even 10 million.. That means they have an average income from just views since they get 1m almost every video.. Plus the sponsors.. So they are banking
420blazeit Is that what I said? I don't recall even thinking they're millionaires.. I know Pewdiepie is.. I'm sorry for saying they get a million per video.. It's just, when I look at their videos.. Next to views.. Most say 1M.. Unless if that means 1 minuscule.. I'm right
The average cpm is about 7 dollars per 1k views so they make 7k per video. 5 videos a week equals 35k a week. That's 1.8 million a year. But they have probably around 10 employees. Say they are taking a modest 50k per year there goes 500k. Divide that by 2 you get 660,000 a year. Still no penny change. But also take into perspective equipment costs music costs and studio costs. Overall I estimate they make 250,000 per year each. That's still quite a bit but not the millions people think.
I live in Tucson, Az. 30 minutes from Biosphere 2, I did a tour there and it was really cool actually. They even talked about a second trial in 2018. The whole jungle biome within a glass dome was crazy! I'd recommend it.
I know it's an old episode, but I remember when I was in 4th grade which was 4 years ago we took a field trip to Biosphere 2, they story they told us was completely different. They mentioned how it was a big success and how certain stuff happened rather than what the guys explained happened. Wow... I guess they're still trying to make it seem like a successful operation and not a failure
I've been to the biosphere it's a little drive away and it's so cool these days there are so many rad experiments going on idk I personally really love the biosphere
No one can convince me that the new food related videos are better than this type of video. This era of GMM is gold and will never be outdone.
I'll never understand why they think we want to see them eat stuff all the time in a gameshow type setting, instead of them just being themselves and telling any sort of stories.
I literally only rewatch these old videos rn
1000000000%
These types of videos have the best jokes/moments as well imo.
Am I the only one who thinks that a run-down Biosphere 2 would be a brilliant setting for a survival horror game? so basically minecraft
I will help you make that game! It sounds flipping AMAZING!
Lee Dy You're***
It may had done better if they put a medical doctor, some scientists, a vet and some farmers.
true
I wish they still made videos like this! This stuff was gold!!!!
Taking a tour of the Biosphere2 is so cool though! It may not have been a successful experiment but the different biomes are so amazing to walk through.
Brianna Logan I agree :) It may not be successful for a while but the concept is incredible! Hope you're having a great day!

I've taken that tour before and it was actually really cool!
Been there, took the tour! The guide said the O2 levels were dropping in part to the curing concrete absorbing it. Really interesting place.
Yay! I'm here early for once!
Thanks insomnia. :)

Earth is considered biosphere. so yes I can live in a biosphere
Badum tss
mirko zaja why 'Badum tss' he;s right you know...

HEILL GRAMMAR !!
Is there correct grammar in this biosphere?!
love the show, and I love how when I wake up for school the next episode is already up.
Wow. That guy put up so much money only to have the people he had working for him screw him over. This experiment would have been AMAZING!
Only rewatching old gmm now
I have been trapped in a bubble for 21 years with 7 billion people so this seems easy :)
I saw 'Rhett Won't Share' yesterday, and was so hoping it would land on it today. Thank you, mystical beast of wheel spinning.
( SPOILER ALERT) next GMM video - Weirdest Things Found In Toilets. video length - around 11mins.
I would appreciate it if you don't spoil the next episode. I like to be surprised in the morning 😉
Will it toilet?
Swani then how else will he think he's cool and better than us?
i'm sorry swani!
I've heard of a baby that was flushed down a toilet. Yup... Sad
I went to biosphere 2 and it was amazing. The atmosphere around you changed so quickly while going to each environment. It's crazy how they made it.

I'm going to the biosphere 2 this summer for a week long high school course - wish me luck! 😁😄
How was it.
Hermione 4 Life its this summer :P
That's so cool how did it go?
Mina F It was so fun!! I would definitely go again! Honestly, and this is more about the course and the people rather than the B2, but there were so many amazing memories made there that I will never forget.
B. Tickles sweet I hope I could do that someday
Yeah they really should have had some scientists for that project, or maybe three scientists, two doctors and a few farming people.
I probably won't do it.... Cuz there probably won't be any wifi... Which will lead to no UA-cam and no Instagram and no tumblr and no pintrest and no Twitter and I just... Can't do it.😜😜
I dun use Facebook anymore cuz I'm to cool for that
Pfff 😂 "im too cool for that"... Yeah right 😂
Same
no wat if there were chargers and you had a phone wit ha wifi hotspot
They wouldn't let a person like you go there lmao. Idiots aren't allowed.
My science class watched this today, because we were learning about the biospheres! SO AMAZING!
they shouldn't have had any livestock, they shouldn't have added all those pointless biomes, and they should have added the plants gradually so they could acclimatize.
+J Nichols and they also should have used actual scientists
but they arent useless if you actually think abt ut
If they'd done the livestock better it would've been a good idea, i.e. choose something that doesn't eat as much and have a livestock farmer in the biome. People need protein and the plants that give protein are difficult to grow.
You two are great it's the way you use your body language in synk, it's like your two minds in one body.
I might live in a biosphere. Probably not though.
biosphere 1 is earth lol
Moonfire27 Then go live in space.
Sam Dreer We're already living in "space."
i totally would :3
I wouldn't!
I don’t understand why they gave up on Biosphere 2 after one failure. Nothing works the first time. Come on, let's make Biosphere 3, folks!
Shocking, a man eats only plant foods and loses weight. REMARKABLE.
MissAllanPoe1989 WOAH. Haha. Diggin' your sarcasm :D Hope you're having a nice day!
I like meat. Meat had protein. I need protein. Viola

I'm sooooooooo9oo happy for Arizona I've always wanted them to talk about it
What happened to "Can it Hot Pocket?"
NO,NO,NO,NO ITS WILL IT HOT POCKET!!!!!!!!!!!
To hot pocket or not to hot pocket. That is the question.

Love the mentality of scientists. "this planet is going to become uninhabitable. so lets go to mars, a planet already uninhabitable.
guardiangarasu mars is used for a backup if anything bad happens on earth we can’t just send 7 billion people to a biosphere on earth there wouldn’t be any space
I dont think you know enough to comment on that
At least no one's gonna nuke mars.
It’s not about uninhabitability. It’s about creating a backup in case of an unavoidable mass extinction event.
I went there for a field trip in fourth grade a while back. It was so much fun. Seeing all of the different environments was amazing and it seemed like a different place each time. It was phenomenal. I Highly recommend going

Lmao Jane Pointer lost the top of her finger 😂
Biosphere 2 wasn't a huge failure, sure it failed but things were learned.

I don't think so. But I do admire these two.

This inspired me to create a dystopian future book.
Pleech Plays Games Okay. So what's the plot?
Pleech Plays Games The story could be after an apocalyptic scenario on earth a small group of people must survive in a biosphere on mars
There should be a horror film about the biosphere
I'd do it... and internet's possible and self sustainable with solar and air flow. You need trained individuals and maybe even children to be raised and educated in there to learn that way of life in order to have a better grasp of what to do and what not to do. It's just that they didn't have the right people in there and safety precautions were not the best. I'd say for this experiment you want a bio engineer, a doctor, a nurse, a psychiatrist, a general engineer, a physicist, a botanist and a mathematician.
