From a marketting standpoint this was actually a smart move to properly announce it here. Even if Elden Ring didn't win game of the year, the fame it has generated has put Fromsoft on the map as a developer to watch. When the AC games were being made, Fromsoft didn't really have that noteriety and as a result regardless of how good the series was, it was seen as something for a very niche audience. Now not only have they been the developers behind 2022s Game of The Year (a year where lets face it, there was some serious competition) they are now annoucing AC to a massive audience (both in person and watching online) who will look to this project as one to try out making it potentially significantly less niche. Case in point, ive seen ALOT of souls players who are intrigued by AC6 just on the basis its fromsoft.
I honestly shed a few tears watching your reaction, because that’s exactly how I felt. This series carries so much nostalgia for me. I’m so happy they’re finally bringing it back! I hope a new generation will appreciate how incredible this series truly is.

A useful advise to all AC newcomers: Legs are one of the most important parts of your mech, because they determine how much weight your vehicle can carry. Your power engine / energy source is on other one as it modifies the amount of energy available, as well as how slow or fast your energy bar will recharge, when its depleted.

"It's been 10 years. Welcome to Armored Core: Fires of Rubicon, Tarnished. You are now a Raven." "It'll be a pleasure fighting with you and/or against you in the war-torn battlefields of Rubicon 3."
Basically it's the franchise that put From Software on the map back in the day. Imagine a game where you play as a mercenary (known as a Raven) who pilots a giant mech (referred to as an "Armored Core" or "AC") taking on a large variety of missions from different governments, corporations, and other organizations or going toe to toe with opponents in the arena fighting your way up the ranks to become the champion. You get funds from successful missions which you then invest back into your mech repairing, rearming, and upgrading it. The game is known for giving you unparalleled customization over pretty much every aspect of your mech including - but not limited to - weapons, body parts, power systems, cooling systems, thrusters, targeting computers, counter measures, sensors, and so much more. You can build a fast light weight mech with unwieldy amounts of agility that can literally fly circles around opponents, a slow lumbering mech with tank treads for legs insane armor, and a ludicrous amount of guns, or anything in between. The game gives you many hundreds of parts to build with allowing you freedom to really develop your own playstyle. There's no "right" way to build either. The only real limiting factors are how much weight your legs and arms can support as well as power and heat management. Some of the later games in the series also started implementing things such as weight distribution and stability meaning if you build a mech that has a big heavy cannon on one shoulder you might have some issues with your mobility and accuracy unless you upgrade your legs and arms to something a bit beefier which might slow you down too but in a way that's more controllable while also giving you some extra armor to compensate. Each part can be tuned in any number of ways allowing you to adjust multiple relevant stats to better fit your build. The combat itself feels pretty solid. The series was notorious for having a steep learning curve with it's fast paced combat and multiple systems you have to manage all at once. It can be frustrating at first as the game really punishes mistakes. Forget to manage your energy reserves and you might find yourself unable to fire off certain weapons, counter measures, or use thrusters when you need to avoid attacks. Overheat and your parts will start to degrade and fail. Later entries in the series introduced damage to individual parts allowing you to disable your enemies (or your enemies to disable you) bit by bit. One well placed shot can really hobble you for the rest of a mission if you aren't careful. Barely make it out of a mission alive with most all of your ammo spent and you might find yourself spending more on repairs and rearming then you took home resulting in a net loss at the end of the mission. All this isn't even to mention that you might make mistakes in your build and not realize it until things start malfunctioning mid mission (always test your builds!). Eventually though if you stick through it you wtill get the hang of things and that's when the game really starts to shine as you begin to feel like a proper ace with a truly unique mech that you worked hard to create. I could go on and on. I've played every game available in America (I bought a PSP to play AC Formula Front only to realize that they had no plans to bring it to the US.) and I - like many fans of the series - have been looking for a game to fill the void it left this past decade when From Soft set it the IP aside to focus on the Soulsborne series.
