I've been reading "Tales of the Dancing Dragon: Stories of the Tao," by Eva Wong. In it she mentions an old master who becomes immortal. His name is Mao Gu. I wonder if Master Gu's master named him after that legendary figure. Master Gu does fit the quintessential figure of what a Taoist master looks like. His facial features, the robe, the long hair, he looks like a character that has stepped out of a classical Chinese painting. I loved hearing his story and the courage he had to follow his path, the Way, and become like water. I'm currently going through a big transition in my life, feeling like I need to give up my career choice and go another way. It's been a huge struggle, and just realizing that I don't have to continue "swimming upstream" has been a huge relief. Not sure what the future holds but I feel certain that I'm more in the mode of where I need to be internally and look forward to seeing how things work out. Thank you for introducing us to Master Gu and the teachings of the Tao, which is so needed at this time in the World. You've gained a new subscriber, and who knows, maybe I'll get to visit one day to meet Master Gu in person. It would be an honor . . .

I’m currently between jobs and found George’s UA-cam channel while looking for something else. Best “find” I’ve made in a long time !!!
I’ve seen well over 40 of the offerings on George’s UA-cam channel (Journey to the East - twice) and just watched the video of Master Gu’s background and history today.
    A message to Master Gu:
I am so happy that you had the vision to see the possibilities that this new life presented and the courage to walk the path to promote your culture and provide us with a new way to look at the world. Myself and others will continue to walk with both you and George on this journey.
    Thanks to you Both !!!

Sir..You are worldwide influential...and with the grace of God/Dao...only just beginning..I hope I can have the Bravery to tell my story one day..no doubt..a lot of people and influential ones at that will feel shame and be put to shame...we never the know the harm our arrogance does until too late.as human beings...especially in this modern world..still..until then they may try most probably are trying very hard to suppress..but what the ego of man doesn't know..is you can't suppress divine will..regardless the effort.it only adds further to calamity for ourselves..still.. for now I'm just grateful of the chance to put behind me...and hopefully start a new..thank you for sharing..🙏

George, your channel is wonderful! And now visiting with Master Gu is on my must-do list! I relate very much to his story, in a way. I come from a very small country and when I look at our youth now I feel the same way he felt back in the late nineties. Globalization is having an effect on many cultures and not always for the better. Like him I am trying to move out of my desk job into something more meaningful for my country and people and staying hopeful in the meantime. Thank you for sharing-stick with it!

Hi, Greetings from Dublin, Ireland. Can you do a video sampling some of the local teas or cha. Also, how does tea play a role in the Taoist diet. I've seen in your videos that you use a teapot as opposed to a gaiwan and a dong dao bei. What is your favourite tea to drink? I personally like Oolongs. I like the fresh green type, the darker more roasted type I have yet to try. Best of luck with your academy in Wudang.

Unfortunately, the ancient Qigong and Taijiquan sites are now tightly controlled tourist attractions. These Masters that live and work at Wudang, Chen Family village, Shaolin Temple are either CCP members or are supervised by a party manager. So, besides teaching mostly foreigners for a living the Masters/Monks/Laoshi need to tow the party line.

Sern Huynh There is indeed a minor mistake in this character. However, in the calligraphy history, there was the case certain famous calligraphers unconsciously or consciously write wrongly but then or later got reasonable explanation.
What you see here was created by one of my friends from calligraphy circle. My explanation for this mis-spelt character is:
Even you are a hero, you still need to be empty - minded! Be a humble person!
