A cinematic renegade who became an essential voice of protest against Thatcher-era repression, visionary British iconoclast Derek Jarman left behind a legacy of astonishing films that give defiant expression to gay desire, anguish, rage, and humanity. Ranging from lush, boldly conceived biographies of queer historical figures such as CARAVAGGIO and EDWARD II to searing, formally radical experimental works like THE LAST OF ENGLAN and BLUE, in which he confronted both the decline of Britain and his own mortality in the wake of an AIDS diagnosis, Jarman’s oeuvre is one of the most uncompromising and fearlessly personal in all of cinema.
The criterion teasers always have such great editing
Love to see Criterion support queer filmmakers ❤️ excited to get this kind of access to Jarman’s filmography 💯
This looks fantastic. Derek was an incredible film maker and a beautiful human being...it's a pity that we don't get the Criterion Channel in New Zealand but the trailer had given me plenty to explore.
such a great editing I watched it at least 30 times
Impossibile vedere le opere di Derek Jarman in Italia, se non in vecchie edizioni tagliate e di pessima qualità. Anche iscriversi al vostro canale non è possibile.

CRITERION WOKE
Good, I want it to be woke.
Can you be quiet
What a little Torquemada you are, lol.
How is celebrating the films of Derek Jarman woke?
@AntZombie121 Right-wing chuds have taken the term "woke" and have ran with it to the point where it just means "it has minorities in it and I don't like that".
