This is a culture that still equates growing of trees with things done only by slaves and peasants. The people who DO know how to make things grow won't go near this region. It has a reputation for stealing expertise and failing to pay. Similarly, remember the curving skyscraper in Shangai, encased in a 100 storey greenhouse? (French architecture, I believe). There were to have been 100s of huge trees, flowering shrubs, etc. ... Not a single green thing has materialized. Sorry to sound so pessimistic, but let's remind ourselves of mayor Hidalgo's plan to green up Paris. It resulted in the destruction of trees that were 200 years old! In most cities in the world, the greening expertise just isn't there. It's the blind leading the blind. At present, Singapore is the doing the best job with urban landscaping.
The Burj is so beautiful, pure masterpiece! Now why hide it, specially with this horrendous eyesore?
