As others have said, you need to check out Pentatonix's version. It was the group's official farewell to Avi. Just The Trio and Kevin, with Kevin's cello tuned lower and replacing Avi's bass notes. You might want to have tissues handy...
I understand your admiration completely!! I love a unique voice like his- I would take him over technically perfect but cold singers any day of the week! Something so enchanting about him, truly. Interesting your comment about the little break he does “oh oh oh” instead of ohhhhhh… I agree that MAKES the song. It is so understated and just a beautiful choice. My kids at school (I’m a ms-hs choir teacher) LOVED to sing his song “You Are The Reason”. There was a lovely SATB version released we did practiced right before shutting down for covid 2020. We never got to perform it for a full house sadly! The words are a little schmaltzy/love songy for a my actual taste, but the song writing is simple and very appealing. The video is nice too, as it implies it is not just about romantic love! If you haven’t seen it I would recommend. Nothing beats his “golden buzzer” moment though, so amazing. Calum actually opened for PTX when I saw them in 2018. His voice really draws you in. I almost missed his set entirely though since they had two openers listed but I didn't notice the asterisk next to my city that said it would only be Calum opening that night. I was taking my own sweet time to to get into the venue thinking I had the first opening act before he started. Luckily it was an outdoor venue and I was able to hear that he'd gone on and made it for the last few songs. This being one of them. So good
This is one of those great songs that is hard to listen to. I'm sitting here, trying not to bawl my eyes out. Thank you for checking it out, by the way. Love from western Canada
This was one of the really outstanding talent show performances for me. The only other one that hit me quite as hard was way back, I think 2010. It wasn't his audition, just one of his performances. It's Matt Cardle singing The First Time (Ever I Saw Your Face) on X Factor UK. and it's sublime. I predict if you watch it, you'll be Matt-slapped, as I would have been if it had been a thing back then. I had to make do with being gob-smacked.
One of the great things about the BGT audition, was watching him go in as a nervous kid whose sister talked into auditioning…and coming out on the other side as a confident star!!!!

If you are interested, his performance of September on the late late show is really good and his song Medicine is also! They’re both recent amazing songs by him and I definitely recommend:)

Her name is Hannah Huston (pronounced like the city in Texas). She also did a spine-tingling rendition of "Every Breath You Take" and flipped it into minor. Loved the reaction & sending you love from Texas!
Robyn's original is MILES better than Calum's cover. Makes much more sense to be upbeat, considering the lyrics and it just has much more edge to it. What Calum did is so expected and boring, just turning it into another bland ballad. His voice is great, but I just don't feel it at all. Robyn's version, on the other hand, can make me cry.
