Would biscuit dough be a good alternative for the pie crust? I have a family member who will not eat pie crust. How about adding an egg and some flour to the mashed potatoes and spreading that across the bottom? I don't think I have seen ground lamb or even lamb chops at the local grocery store. We ate rabbit when I was a kid, but also have not seen rabbit in the store. Anyway, your version of Shepherd's pie looks delish. Can't be clock because grandfather clocks have eyes and cat clocks have eyes. We gave our oldest a cougar clock that my parents had since the 1950s. I guess it's an antique now.

Shepherds pie, (non traditional) is beef mince browned with a large white onion, drain off the grease, then you add a cup of peas, 1 and a half cups of chopped carrots, 1 cup of sweetcorn, then add either a vegetable Stockcube or onion or beef granules and just enough water usually 250 millilitres. You want enough to just coat the meat and veg, then add a tablespoon of dried mixed herbs. Layer this in an oven proof tray or casserole dish. Separately boil enough potatoes usually 1 kilo depending on your dish, and then mash them with salt to season, a half cup of salted butter, (optional 100 ml of milk) and then put the potatoes over the top of the meat. Usually you'll be looking to have the potatoes to be at least 1/2 the thickness of the meat and veg, Then put a few knobs of butter over the potatoes and bake for 20 minutes at 392 degrees Fahrenheit, after the 20 minutes, add cheese on top and bake for another 10 minutes Cottage pie is the same except you don't add any veg other than the onion
