- Mason Gillis, Zach Edey, and Matt Painter have gotten Purdue to the NCAA National championship game. Here is what they had to say at Sunday's pregame press conference.
Matt Painter is an elite head coach regardless of the outcome tomorrow.

If Purdue wins this game against UConn on Monday, April 8, 2024, then Matt Painter has done a terrific job as the Purdue basketball coach. What a difference a year can make......
If Purdue doesn't win, he's still done a terrific job. No shame in losing to UCONN, which on paper is the better team anyhow.

One question I would have liked to seen asked in the last couple weeks is after CMP says he’s learned what kind of player he can get to come to Purdue, does he think that’s gonna change after this years success in the tourney.
I’d say so. Look at the recruiting class they have coming in.
They don't need a different kind of player. They get Purdue Guys, and thats how you build a championship caliber team as he has had this year and others.

Uconn has atleast 3 NBA players this year. Purdue by 8 sounds unlikely, but it's a one game sample. FDU winning was unlikely. We'll see what happens.
You really don't know much about UCONN. Talk is cheap though. We will see what happens.
