Excellent. Felt for the poor boat who managed a successful gybe only to spin into a tack immediately afterwards. Never a dull moment in a 12.

I have sailed many boats over the years but non of them came close to the Twelve.

Totally agree, best boat to sail I have ever owned and that includes skiffs .

What number was your last 12?

N3444TC .I would have to look it up but it was a china doll and I loved that boat so much. I sailed other designs like the pipedream and a four plank doll too but the seven plank was my favourite. I was a poor young student back then. It was a very well built boat and very comfy to hike out on. Super nimble and fast tacking. I think it was built by Rowsell and those guys built superb quality works of art in timber. I remember the first time I saw sail number 3000, a pipedream, and I was salivating at the sight of it.
I have toyed with the idea of exporting a twelve to where we live but to own it and not race it against other twelves ? Not much point.
Its hard to settle for any other boat after a twelve. You just dont get that thorough bred handling and sparkle. Lasers are crap, most plastic boats are just meh.
Its the boating equivalent of a spitfire. It becomes part of and an extension of you. Even the nosedives are a blast.
