About 4 yrs ago, a lady gave me her 1982 Bullnose with a 351W. It had only 70,000 miles on it. The body is straight and no rust and a brand new front seat. The two tone Tan and Brown paint is in ok shape, but the clear coat is peeling. I've recently researched the vin# and found that the truck was made in the San Jose, Ca. plant, the last or second to last year that plant was still open. It's now "The Great Mall". My Late Father worked at that same plant, in the truck dept. . When I discovered that, my eyes welled up with tears, knowing that my Dad's hands helped build this truck, just before the plant closed and he had to finish his last six yrs of his 30 yr career in Kansas City Mo. . I'm so glad I found your show and I look forward to following your progress. You have a great, natural flow in articulating what you want to say. You're a natural at being a host of a show; you should do this for a living. Sincerely, Timmy D. Neeley.
Just picked up my first bullnose, it’s an 83 f150 that has a 460 swapped in it, my grandpa was the original owner and was the same person who did all the mods to it, he’s excited to be working on it again and says he can’t get his head wrapped around the fact that after 30 years of it being sold I found it half a mile down the road from his house.
I don't know *anything* about cars or trucks (other than how to drive one lol) but I was doing research for a story and found this video. The 1985 F-150 is perfect for what I'm trying to write and I had so much fun watching you talk about yours. I hope you find some joy in knowing you've helped a writer in addition to all the car folks in the comments 😄
Since the F150 that I knew and loved died in 1997 I've been rebuilding and refurbishing old ones ever since. I have to say I must not be the only one with my opinion of newer Fords since I sell my projects as soon as they are done for a profit. I think what most people love the most is the fact that the engine I use in all of them is a 351w stroked to 408 with AFR enforcer heads and a mild roller cam, it's pretty torquey.
I have 2 bullnose Broncos. A 1985 & ‘86. The 85 has the inline 6 4.9lt with headers. It sounds like a p-51 Mustang airplane but it’s a torque beast and was my first hunting unit. It’s a 4 speed standard and climbs the northern NM mountains like a goat. The ‘86 is an Eddie Bauer Special (1St year) with a 302 v8 4 speed standard dual exhaust. It too is a beast and has been on a number of hunting adventures as well. Ordered a new 2021 Bronco but looks like I won’t get it until 2022. Keep us posted on your build. Thanks.
Enjoyed the video! I’m a high tech guy too and recently bought a 1985 F350 with a manual transmission. I hope you keep the 6-cylinder-it’s a very reliable engine and is known for its durability!
Great Video!! I love that model F-150, always have. Back in 2010, I finally got my hands on a 1982 F-150, 4.9 inline 6, standard transmit ion step-side. Driving it is an absolute pleasure every time. If you do some research on that engine, you might find that you don't want to change it out. It is known as one of Ford's best engines. You have the transmit ion that I wish I had in mine. The engine was originally designed to be put in tractors I believe and they offered as much torque as the diesels in it's time.
I'm a web developer/programmer. I bought a 1984 F150 I6 last year, and I've been working on it quite a bit, learning a ton. I converted the ignition system back to the Duraspark II system, which allowed me to rip the one computer out, so now it's computer free. Love my Bullnose!
I'm excited to see this go through I'm fixing up a 1981 Ford F-150 Ranger with a 351 Windsor in it ( the last year before the little Rangers) I'm glad others are still working on these trucks. Hope to see some great Content.
I'm digging your truck. Recently feel in love with that era Ford truck myself and been looking at getting one. Subscribed off just this video to see where you take it.
I bought an 85 F250 4x4 4speed with a 300 earlier this year from a copart auction. Got it to start, run and drive, but still needs a lot of work to be traffic and work ready
I bought my 1983 bullnose Ford truck with a 351 Windsor ($3,000) in 1999 to pull my 1999 Sport Nautique ($40,000). I sold the boat and kept the truck. Now I want to do the same as you. Work on my Ford truck and keep it running. Thanks for putting this information together.
Just bought my own 86 with a 300 in-line 6 in it. Bed off, derustified and painted the frame, new electrical, lights, brakes and components and lines, 2.5 inch lift, new coils and shocks, rear dif oil changed, new bearings and seals, all a lot more. Having a blast! Haven’t got to the engine yet because the inline 6 seems industructable. Hoping to put new headman header and intake with new carb to get some more low end torque out of it.
Awesome to see a fellow Bullnose enthusiast. I’ve been a fan since the day I saw my Grand Dads brand new 1983. I have collected two Broncos and 3 F-150’s. They are all 85 & 86 models, and all in different states of completion lol. Looking forward to watching your progress.
Bought a 85 bullnose when I was 14 for $500. I put a 351w and many many upgrades since, I'm turning 21 and it's been very great truck to me. Also here in NM brotha
Love the bullnose style. Just got a 85 short bed project myself. Needs motor work. Body straight as an arrow. Looks great sitting beside my 97 short bed. Raised on Ford trucks and red and white tractors. Look forward to watching your modifications.
I think it's great and I believe people can do anything they put their minds to and as far as painting goes I know you can do it it's pretty easy it's the chemistry that you got to learn 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Sweet! Been looking for some content about these trucks considering I own one lol. Got an 84 F150 long bed with the 5.0. Bought it to learn and fix it up to my liking. Plus it turns heads still for an old pickup. Looking forward to more content man.
Thanks for creating your channel! Definitely subscribed! When you're at the junkyard you need to get the crossmember perches for a Windsor engine, a Windsor radiator (inlet/outlet are opposite an I-6) and the proper fan shroud for a Windsor as well. Good luck with your 'new to you' shortbed! 🐂
Love this era of truck, i've had 3.. 84 f350 4x4 with a 460/4 speed, 86 f250 4x4 with a 6.9 idi/4 speed and a 83 f250 2wd 6.9 idi/4 speed. Wish i still had all of them
Tip for future vids. Have the truck behind you or be walking around the truck with the camera while you're talking about the mods you want to do to it. People are watching this vid because they want to see the truck!
My first vehicle was an ‘83 F100 2wd auto. 20 years ago, I converted it to a 4wd manual with a granny 4. Still have that truck, but it needs some restoration.
Yup, came here from the Bullnose Bible (Gary's Garagemahal) where I'm an admin. He too was a systems administrator in his previous life. We're big fans of the 4.9/300 I-6 over there! But if you want a 408 we can offer advice. I'm envious of the lack of rust you southwestern guys have. The later 3G alternator is a popular OEM upgrade. Come on by.
I have to say, as a new bullnose owner I have referenced a lot of useful information from the "Bullnose Bible" We are fixing ours up as my sons first vehicle who currently has his learners permit. It is a 81, 2wd, 300, 3 on the tree, f150. Yes he can drive the manual. He absolutely loves it and so do I.
Great video! I've been watching your channel for a while and just got a '95 351W from my local junk yard , I plan to swap the engine on my '86 Bronco which is already bored .040 over and needs rebuild...I do not plan to get more than 300 HP out of it since my budget is tight ,still want to use quality parts... It will also be my first time rebuilding an engine but I'll be learning along the way; there is a ton of info about rebuilding a 351W out there...
Majic tractor paint from tractor supply sprayed with a spray gun and air compressor. Done bin there done that on the spray paint. Will definitely be following your channel and swapping info with you. Wished i could post a picture in the comments
Nice trucks, I don't have one. I own a 1988 "bricknose" with the 7.3 IDI diesel motor. She's and extended cab, long bed, and like yours, its a project.
He’ll yeah man I’m in the same boat I just got a 85 f250 ranger and the 300 you can actually make the 300 il6 into a really good street truck motor but you’re gonna do what you’re going to do but if you’re going to build a 351 the Cleveland is really good due to the heads but the Windsor you can get a kit from elderblock to make the 351w into a cleavlor
The donor I have is a 351 Windsor. Just something about a V8, ya know? Eventually I'd love to get AFR heads, but I have looked into a Clevor. Not many Clevelands around here though to pull heads from.
Dude! This is so cool! I'm definitely subbing! For the love of that truck, DO NOT STRIP AND SPRAY PAINT THIS TRUCK!!! Don't ask how I know! If you need to repaint it, hire a bodyshop or a paint booth to. Well worth the money vs the pain you will have doing it yourself.
I got my grandpas 1980 ranger f-150 xlt. Im just restoring the interior but leaving the exterior . Its still got good clear coat. My idea is doing a purpose 80s er build. If I add lights im doing halogen baja lights and a role bar and stuff like that.
I'm so glad I've found a channel that's just starting and I can keep up with. I've got an 81 extended cab and longbed with the 351w. It's an F250 XLT RANGER. It's weird, the intake manifold gasket is a pan gasket like from big blocks and the head aren't the same as any Windsor engine I've seen. Can someone explain please.
Another reason behind the name bullnose is the router bit... if you look at the nose from the side it looks like a bullnose on a piece of wood (looks kinda like a c)
I assumed Bull Nose was related to tbe name of bull nose trim. Ie for doors and windows.. the next gen ford truck is called a Brick Nose.. cause it's as flat as a brick. Granny gear is for pulling a really heavy load from a stop.
Subbed. I have 2 4wd bullnoses, an 84 6.9 truck with a N/A 7.3, I have resurrected it 3 times in the past 20 years, and an 86 460/C6 crew cab project that I am just starting on. I also have a low mileage 94 with 4.9/E4OD that I really like. I've been a bodyman since I was 16 in 1977, if you really don't like your original paint, aren't afraid of failure, and full of perserverance (and enough cash for material), go for it. I have no idea why, but folks love that original paint look, killing my income 😉 Can I have your wheel opening moldings please? 😁
Got a question, I've got a Bullnose, was running fine but it will start up, and doesn't do the engine rpm raising up when I start, it did before, no it starts and has a loss of power, could it be the idle control on the carb. Timing is good. New carb but again it doesn't rev up after starting and has a low idle. Thanks, it's an 85.
A I mean honestly I like long bed trucks because you can put more in the bed like if you go get firewood is that two extra feet really makes a difference and all the scrap metal that I haul I probably scrap 200 or 300,000 lb of metal every year so when I go pick up metal from customers and stuff like that it would be a lot of extra trips for that extra two feet that I wouldn't have
Hi Ed... just subscribed! I'm looking at a 1982 f250 with a 351 windsor. The guys asking 10,500 for it. It looks to be in decent condition. What are your thoughts on the value of this particular model? He's firm on the price. Thanks!
You got a mans truck there. I have a 86 bullnose myself. I made a video of my troubles changing the cam gear that was made of phenolic trash. Take a look at my channel and you’ll see my blue and white beauty. The 300 is a great engine though.
Tweaker wiring mods are always suspect. 😳 And there are plenty of interior/audio upgrades. You would be better off with the M5OD than a Zf if you're wanting a fun street truck. The Zf-5 S42 is definitely not smooth shifting compared to your typical car gearbox.
I, like the 300 6 cly I, do have 2 extra create engines on stand by I've got a 78 351 Windsor and I've got a 70 351 cleveland big block both engines are in creates for stand by both engines are factory plus I've got a 78 ford 3 spd trans and I've got a c6 auto trans plus I've got a 85, 3 spd with over Drive trans and I've got an extra ford 9" rear all stand by parts with my 85 ford f150 Bull Nose trk
My fuel gauge is good. The brand new aftermarket sending unit however only reads 65 ohms when full though. This causes the gauge to read 3/4 when full and empty with 5 gallons left in the tank. The sender should read 75-80 ohms when full. To clarify, the gauge and wiring is not an issue, the sender is. Temp gauge usually stays around "N" at 180 deg f which is right where it should be I guess. Less when its cold outside and more when it is hot running interstate speeds. So, it's not that bad I guess.
Please if you keep changing and adding crap to it is not a real Legit bullnose anymore 😕..swapping crap no good if don't like the feeling of a original born truck don't get it..get a new one period...
Love the bullnose Ford's I have an 85 F150 with the 351 4V HO , C6 9inch rear differential .

I’ve got an 86 with a 351. It’s an awesome truck and rides surprisingly smooth for its age.
Nice 👍
So glad to find other people that love the bullnose fords. I’ve had 2 and am currently shopping for my next one
I'm too trying to get one a extended cab diesel but all I see are single cab they are getting hard to find in mint condition also the f350 crew cab
My dad had one when I was young and I never liked any other style truck except for maybe the 99-03 lightning.
I currently own THREE OF THEM
BEST TRUCKS EVER!

Chevy man here 👋
I personally like the bullnose Ford’s a lot. I’m not so big on ford trucks too much but I would consider buying an 80s f150 for sure!
Since the F150 that I knew and loved died in 1997 I've been rebuilding and refurbishing old ones ever since. I have to say I must not be the only one with my opinion of newer Fords since I sell my projects as soon as they are done for a profit.

Hey buddy I have a question for you did you know any place on Internet where I can get parts for a
1086 f150
Great Video!! I love that model F-150, always have. Back in 2010, I finally got my hands on a 1982 F-150, 4.9 inline 6, standard transmit ion step-side. Driving it is an absolute pleasure every time. It's his truck to do with as he wants, but I'd at least keep the original engine in storage to put it back in later!
The 300 isn’t a bad engine, but it is the most over rated engine ever. A Windsor is a better option every day of the week.
Sorry but I have to say stepside is a Chevrolet thing. No such thing as a stepside Ford. It’s a flareside.
Yeah... I'm probably going to be the 432
One to tell you to keep the six. Super easy to work on and very reliable. Best of luck with your build.
I'm a web developer/programmer. I bought a 1984 F150 I6 last year, and I've been working on it quite a bit, learning a ton. I converted the ignition system back to the Duraspark II system, which allowed me to rip the one computer out, so now it's computer free. Love my Bullnose!

I have the exact same truck. Same engine and transmission. She doesnt like to idle but she loves to drive

I have an 85 f250 4x4 with the 460. I subscribed 👍
Great engine, I have one in mine, but I understand the feeling....v8 sound and power still calls out to you.
Love the bullnose style. Just got a 85 short bed project myself. Needs motor work. Body straight as an arrow. Looks great sitting beside my 97 short bed. Raised on Ford trucks and red and white tractors. Look forward to watching your modifications.
Uwielbiam serie F

I think it's great and I believe people can do anything they put their minds to and as far as painting goes I know you can do it it's pretty easy it's the chemistry that you got to learn 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I have an 1985 F150XL 351w 4x4....I love it....

When you're at the junkyard you need to get the crossmember perches for a Windsor engine, a Windsor radiator (inlet/outlet are opposite an I-6) and the proper fan shroud for a Windsor as well.
Good luck with your 'new to you' shortbed! 🐂
0:36 Ed where did you go? I like your videos. I have been looking for anything that is current. Thanks
Dennis
Love this era of truck, i've had 3.. 84 f350 4x4 with a 460/4 speed, 86 f250 4x4 with a 6.9 idi/4 speed and a 83 f250 2wd 6.9 idi/4 speed. Wish i still had all of them

this is great because i have the exact same truck.
Nice looking trk
@@mikejohns3104 Three on the tree, SO cool!
Haven't done that since a '64 Dart slant six.
Appreciate you! Enjoy that truck.
Good luck on your project. Gorgeous truck
300 6 cyl has great bottom end tork for pulling
Great video! I've been watching your channel for a while and just got a '95 351W from my local junk yard , I plan to swap the engine on my '86 Bronco which is already bored .040 over and needs rebuild...I do not plan to get more than 300 HP out of it since my budget is tight ,still want to use quality parts... Love the content, thinking of getting my grandfather's 83 F250 Extended Cab with the 460 Big Block to fix up and drive.
I done the some thing, I bought my 83 F150 for me and my dad to work on
Nice truck love the bull nose fords
Nice truck! Looks a lot like mine.
Majic tractor paint from tractor supply sprayed with a spray gun and air compressor. Done bin there done that on the spray paint. Will definitely be following your channel and swapping info with you. Wished i could post a picture in the comments

BullnoseGarage no elderblock makes the kit that you put on the Windsor it changes a couple things on the Windsor to make it half Windsor and Cleveland
We love New Mexico
It also amazes me how many of the younger generation don’t know how to drive a manual.
Put a 460 big block . Might as well go all the way brother. I got a F250 4X4
I have an 86 f150 with the 4.9 4 speed manual.
Nice truck good find great video .I wamt to ask, you replaced your turn lights with leds?
I have the same truck except mine has a factory 351 windsor. And mines a 4wd. Its bad ass.
I’ve never heard of them referred to as a bullnose till I noticed people rebuilding them recently.
well u do got a/c just needed to be fixed but hope the 85 still runs
I had to get some 15x8 wheels to replace those 15x5.5 wheels.
I got my grandpas 1980 ranger f-150 xlt. Im just restoring the interior but leaving the exterior . Its still got good clear coat. My idea is doing a purpose 80s er build. If I add lights im doing halogen baja lights and a role bar and stuff like that.
I literally have the same truck 4.9l shortbed single cab
I have a 351 ho in my 86, and I wish I had an inline 6 lol
Wow what are you saying man
I have an 84 and am trying to find some after market blinkers on the front where did you get yours?
I've got a 85, Ford f150 Bull Nose trk 300 6 cly 4 spd trans
I'm so glad I've found a channel that's just starting and I can keep up with. I've got an 81 extended cab and longbed with the 351w. It's an F250 XLT RANGER. Another reason behind the name bullnose is the router bit... if you look at the nose from the side it looks like a bullnose on a piece of wood (looks kinda like a c)
I got a marines 1986 bulldoze 98% rust free
4:00 the man lost me with the specs 😆 🤣 6:44 you got this brother.
Sorry. You forgot bullnose also came in the f-100.
I assumed Bull Nose was related to tbe name of bull nose trim. Ie for doors and windows.. the next gen ford truck is called a Brick Nose.. cause it's as flat as a brick.

Can I have your wheel opening moldings please?
I just bought an 85 4x4 with a 302 EFI for $800
Don't forget them f100 I got an 81
Can you please! tell me where you got the front marker lights?
Thanks!
I have an 86 F150 EFI 302 Bullnose I need a video or diagram on the Wiring harness for the engine if someone could help

How much did y'all get your bull nose for? And what kind of shape was it in?
How much will it tow?
I have one question.....why do i see OBS on some descriptions? I can't figure out what that means.
OBS/old body style
I think your boot lace may be untied
You got a mans truck there. I have a 86 bullnose myself. I made a video of my troubles changing the cam gear that was made of phenolic trash. Take a look at my channel and you’ll see my blue and white beauty. The 300 is a great engine though.
What’s a 89 considered?
👍👍
Tweaker wiring mods are always suspect. 😳
And there are plenty of interior/audio upgrades.
You would be better off with the M5OD than a Zf if you're wanting a fun street truck.
The Zf-5 S42 is definitely not smooth shifting compared to your typical car gearbox.

A question for other 80s ford drivers, especially Bullnose owners...
How irritatingly inaccurate are your gages, especially your gas gage?
My fuel gauge is good. The brand new aftermarket sending unit however only reads 65 ohms when full though. This causes the gauge to read 3/4 when full and empty with 5 gallons left in the tank. The sender should read 75-80 ohms when full. To clarify, the gauge and wiring is not an issue, the sender is. Temp gauge usually stays around "N" at 180 deg f which is right where it should be I guess. Less when its cold outside and more when it is hot running interstate speeds. So, it's not that bad I guess.
@@mikejohns3104 mine is crazy. Completely full is completely full. But not too long back, I was at an 1/8 of a tank...put 9.5 gallons in.
All hat no cattle kinda video....what's the point man
80-82s we’re f100s
Please if you keep changing and adding crap to it is not a real Legit bullnose anymore 😕..swapping crap no good if don't like the feeling of a original born truck don't get it..get a new one period...
