the thibng you need to understand about the tf2 team is that they are all insane on some level other like heavy medic and pyro just show it off a little more than the other mercenaries do
most of them are pretty mentally ill or otherwise fucked to some extent, yeah. Pyro's delusional and is a pyromaniac, Demoman's an alcoholic. Soldier's also delusional and PROBABLY technically a war criminal, Medic's definitely a psychopath. Scout's likely mentally impaired, i could go on.
@@faggoteditor9297 To be a War Criminal you would have to have been in the Armed Forces. Soldier applied and was turned down. So he hopped on a plane and started killing 'Nazis' till at least the 1950's or so. Scout is mainly a narcissist and a bit of a man child.
I still don't know why Valve bothered to make such diverse character with unique traits and personality and not make any series outside their comics which has been left hanging for 2 years now
I was just recently reminded of this game and I've been meaning to watch the meet to videos a while now. Best thing is I get to re-watch them with DeanBerry :D ps. Medic is my favourite of them all
Medic plants baboon uterus in people, stole the Merc's souls and used one to get out of hell scratch free and sold the other for a pen, and considers healing a side effect of satisfying his morbid curiosities, and more.
Pyro was my DUDE (though it may actually be a girl XD)! Always played as him and waited for so long for his short to come out and I Was NOT disappointed! Loved rewatching these after all this time! Great reaction as ever!! :)
TF2 is one of my favourite games of all time. Absolutely loved it during Uni, played a ton with my friends. Will have to go back to it one day! My favourite character to play was always the Pyro, but the best "Meet The..." was probably the Medic's! Such good memories of that game :') glad to see you checking it out.
I'm watching this video right now while checking the comment section. Everytime I watch the "Meet the Team" videos, it always brings a smile to my face. Seeing other people reacting to these amazing videos just makes me so happy. I'll never get tired from TF2, the characters are so loveable.
some TF2 trivia: -The game is set in 1968. -RED and BLU are ruled by two rival brothers, Redmond and Blutarch Mann, sons of Zepheniah Mann, a British entrepreneur who moved to the US during the gold rush of 1850, but lost all his fortune digging for gold, and when he passed away he screwed up his idiot sons by passing the company to his friend Barnabus Hale, forcing both brothers to fund up their own companies and fight one another for control of the gold-less badlands of the US mid-west, using weapons provided by Mann Co. , now under watch of Saxton Hale, grandson of old man Barnabus. -Blutarch and Redmond are more than 100 years old, and remain alive due to Australium-powered life-extending machines built by Radighan Connagher. -Australium is a radioactive material found exclusively in Australia, which is ruled by a kangaroo-loving civilization of strongmen, who fight one another at every turn, for sports. -By 1850, New Zealand had the development level of an advanced civilization equal to Superman's Krypton, but was swept under the sea by a giant tidal wave, leaving Australia to be the second most developed civilization ever, thanks to it's Australium. -Both RED and BLU are overseen by the Administrator, a woman by the name of Helen, who is also 100 years old, also supported by a life-extending machine, and is a descendant of the handmaid of the wife of old man Zepheniah. -Zepheniah's wife birthed three boys, in 1822: Redmond, Blutarch and Gray. Gray was taken by an eagle and disappeared from history. He was also a wonder child and could speak before being born. He spent the last month inside the womb developing a mathematical system. -Scout's name has been officially disclosed as "Jeremy", he's officially been established to be Spy's son after a long running joke revolving around that "your mother!" file, and he's scheduled to die in December, 1987. -Soldier is also known as Mr Jane Doe, he's a dishonorably discharged Marine recruit who got himself kicked of every branch of the military, but managed to fly himself to France and start killing Germans on his own and awarding himself makeshift medals he made on the field. He stopped with said behavior after finding out the war had ended by 1947. -Pyro's identity is unknown. He's been diagnosed with chronic schizophrenia. -Demoman's real name is Tavish DeGroot, he was born in Ullapool, Scotland. He fought and killed the Loch Ness Monster at the age of 10. He lives with his mother, who is completely blind, and his medieval sword, which is enchanted with the spirit of a knight, which absorbs the life force of anyone he slays. -Heavy's name is Mikhail, he's from Khabarosk, Russia. He has three younger sisters, and lives with them in a farm in northern Siberia. He sleeps right next to his minigun. He also has a PhD in Russian literature, which he reads often in between engagements. He's also a regular player of poker. -Engineer's name is Dell Conagher. He's the grandson of Radighan Connagher. He has 11 PhD's in various disciplines including robotics, computer science, chemistry and structural engineering. His father is said to have been the creator of the spawn room technology that allows mercenaries to come back to the field after being killed, enabling the battles between RED and BLU to remain at a constant stalemate. -Medic's last name has been disclosed as "Ludwig", and he made a contract with the devil that bound his soul to hell. He has surgically attached another nine souls to his self to counter that, and used them as bargaining chips to get his own soul out of hell, by hustling the devil himself. -Sniper's name is Mun-Dee, he's actually a Kiwi, born on the sunken New Zealand to Lar-Na and Bil-Bel, a couple of astronomers who meant to send him off the Earth in a rocket ship, but it failed to take off and crash-landed in Australia, where he was raised by a couple of elderly farmers. He's said to have the power to feel his enemies around, knowing where to look and where to shoot. -Spy's name is unknown. He's officially Scout father as of 1972, when he confessed having impregnated the woman after disguising himself as Tom Jones. -By 1971, Gray Mann resurfaces bringing with him an army of robots made in the likeness of the Mann mercenaries, to take over the company. He succeeds in capturing Mann Co Headquarters and removing Saxton Hale from command by sticking to the Mann Co regulations book, and submitting his daughter Olivia to wrestle Saxton for control of the company. Saxton obviously refuses to wrestle a little girl, and forfeits the company. -During 1971, Gray's armies plow through the badlands, and every Mann facility around the world, taking the Australium they can find. When the Mann mercenaries fight back, Gray enlists the help of the previous generation of mercenaries who then proceed to raid and wipe every Mann team worldwide, leaving only the Mann mercenaries we know as Team: Fortress. -By 1972, BLU and RED disband, the mercenaries are scattered across the world, and the Administrator's assistant Miss Pauling rounds them up again to fight Gray Mann and retake Mann Co. All of them answer the call, except Engineer, who is watching Helen's last days as she runs out of Australium and uses the last remaining bit to squeeze every ounce of life force out of the life machine. Helen then rejuvenates and vows revenge on Gray Mann....... .....and that's where we are.
all these years and that the first time i've known the backstory. did they ever explain why both teams have the same members? clones? brothers? also, this should be a single player first person shooter rpg or something.
some people argue the briefcase has the files related to cloning. according to the lore, _the spawn room_ is a self-contained cloning facility, and Spy is not the only Spy around.... Helen and Pauling also have infiltration skills.
You talk about the characters in TF2 having a strong The Incredibles feel. I think that might be because the game's art style was strongly inspired by classic American art such as Norman Rockwell. I think that may have been an inspiration for The Incredibles as well.
I dunno how i missed this. I'm glad you're reacting to it. It's a fantastic game. My favorite to play is pyro but the medic has my favorite personality. As for videos I suggest End of the Line if you haven't seen it already. It's one of my all time favorite TF2 shorts.
The only other TF2 animations that are officially produced by Valve are “Jungle Inferno” and “Mann Vs Machine”, both of which were released alongside big content updates to the game. I’d recommend watching Jungle Inferno especially because it introduces Saxton Hale, who is a major character from the Team Fortress Comics, which themselves are a great bastion of entertaining dialogue between not only the nine mercenaries from the “Meet the ____” videos, but also other unique and equally entertaining side characters. I’d highly recommend giving them a read, they’re all about an equal 10 minutes in length and share a creative, interesting storyline.
I remember back when each of these came out... The guys at ValvE did a superb job with this, honestly. Brings me back the fondest memories I got of a game.
Meet the spy and meet the pyro are the best to me, because of the memes from them. Meet the medic is really funny too, but it doesn't have the meme potential of "I fear no man but that thing, it scares me".
If you're wondering how the Blue Spy's head wound up still alive in the Medic's fridge, watch "Meet the Medic - Outtakes." It was Valve's first shot at introducing the Medic but wound up scrapping the idea & went with what we see here. But that earlier scenario is still Lore Canon & we see a bit of that here. The Demoman was not cursing when his speech was getting bleeped out...He was drunkenly revealing truth about the Loch Ness Monster that the government didn't want to be said to everyone.
I showed the Meet the Team videos to two of my friends few days ago (they aren't even into gaming and they didn't know what TF2 was about) and ever since, they've been fangirling and they keep spamming me with TF2 stuff. We're having a great time talking about TF2 and its characters. :)
A lot of TF2 videos are unofficial made by fans on source Filmmaker. Jungle Inferno and the Mann vs Machine cinematic are some other official ones you might like
I just noticed in the Meet the Spy video, BLU Scout is holding the butterfly knife by the safe handle when he drops the obviously SINGLE-EDGED blade after it "cuts him"
TF2 characters all have insane energy, if you want to work in a field where you may literally not see the next sunrise, pick these guys as your battle buddies.
My personal favorite is meet the medic, partly because I read this really sad 4chan green text story about someone playing medic and a 'special' guy playing the heavy.
God rewatching those trailers get me back to the days where i would wish for it to be on sale in physical copies, each characters are so grounded they feel realistic in their setting not like those current days heroes crap its kind of an achievement to make peolpes want to buy a game just by presenting the characters without actual gameplay even back in the days, my only regret is that i wasn't able to play it right when it came out i started playing right after the War update and i wish i was there right from the start because it was love at first sight and it always been like this, i even spend halloween and christmas on the game, this game is just a fucking legend
I've only just realised the blu Spy's head is in Medic's fridge because Soldier shot his head off, and Medic made a replacement head. How've I never put that together before?
God I miss those videos. They were so fun. I remember when the Medic and The Pyro were new. On a side note, seeing the SFM at the end reminded me of the CSGO trailer and how amazing that SFM was.
One interesting thing is definitely how these videos grow more cinematic as the tf2 team gets better at using their tools and stuff. The first few being interviews while the later ones are more movie style
You should check out The Winglet's Team Fortress 2 animations. There aren't too many more official TF2 animations, but The Winglet has made many very professional TF2 fan animations using the source film maker. He's even gotten the official voice actors to voice for a few of them, like "Mind Games".

Bloody love this game, I only started playing it late December last year and I've been hooked ever since. Perfect characters, always loved the "Meet The" vids but had a pretty crap PC until last year. I mean I'm generally not a fan of online multiplayer games, tried out Call of Duty and Fortnite and didn't really get into them, but this game is just perfect, not just the characters and lore, music and art style, specialized mechanics of playing as different classes and game modes, relatively well-equalized damage system, the intricacies of each map; but just the unforgettable unique experiences created by the online community. I mean sure, they're not all great, occasionally like all online games you'll get some hate-filled rant session in the chat, people trying to hack the game, *_EVERYONE SPAMMING E WHEN I PLAY AS A MEDIC..._* ...But there are some great experiences too, I mean just recently I landed in a server with a team who kind of all sounded like good friends from uni or work or someplace, really fun-loving environment yet they took the gameplay seriously too, perfect balance of try-hard and casual, and the chat was hilarious, a heavy and medic being played by a husband and wife with both their mics on and the bantering between them was too damn funny, I wish I had recorded it. And it felt good being thanked for my efforts, I mean I managed to squat beneath the bomb and push it past three sentries and then when we won the game; they started clapping saying "good on ya Pyro" and it made my day. Also loved the next game where I was placed in a team that had a T-posing Heavy called "God" who was mic-spamming the testament of the doomslayer while floating around the map, it was hilarious. Not to mention the people who always mic-spam the best songs in 2Fort, I mean last night I was playing as a Sniper and someone started blasting _Nutbush_ by Tina Turner over their speakers and I can't describe how badass it made the experience of trying to headshot everyone, I mean I'm a pretty bad sniper usually but while that song was playing; I managed to snipe a Scout jumping into our base mid-air. And the other time I was in 2Fort it was a very intense match topside, 2 for 2 in Capture the flag, three spies had just been shot down in our intelligence room, and in a rare twist; I was the only Spy on my team, so it was up to me to get their intel before they got ours, there were so many soldiers, sentries and heavies on the surface, so I snuck through the sewer, there was one engie with a sentry waiting there, guarding the corner, but I managed to backstab him and sap his sentry, rare for me, usually I either backstab and get shot down by a sentry or I successfully destroy the sentry and get clonked on the head by the engie, I made my way to the, strangely unprotected, intelligence room, I saw the commotion outside and I just thought "I'm done for, I will be absolutely pulverized if I pick this up and they find out where I am." Then out of the blue, a teammate plays _The Best Things in Life are Free_ by Sam Cooke, and I was, again, swept up with the rhythm, I grabbed that briefcase and ran upstairs, I nearly shit a brick when I saw a sentry in the top floor room, luckily there was a dispenser in front on the doorway and the sentry couldn't see me. So I went through the other doorway, knew I'd be toast if I went out the front so I cut through the empty sewers, song still playing, as fast as I could, as I'm running under the bridge; one of my teammates types "lol, slippery little spy", best compliment ever, I climbed the stairs back into our base, all is well until suddenly an enemy Pyro comes through the doorway and starts running towards me with his flames reaching out metres in front of him, I just thought to myself "I'm dead, there's no getting out of this." I had my gun out and I'm a pretty bad shot, so I just took one little shot in that small interval of time and somehow; I shot the Pyro directly in the head and he died, neither of us were expecting it, I think he might have been low on health, and I got back into the intel room and finished the capture right as the song was ending, unforgettable, unique experience. And even though I never finished this match because of a connection error; there was one packed server where I briefly heard and enjoyed _Usual Suspects_ by Task & Linus as I ran out from the battlements trying to heal my teammatas, then it turned out they already had three medics so I switched to demoman and ran around chopping heads off with my sword instead. And yeah I always kind of thought there was some kind of incredibles vibe there from the music and art style. Guess my favorite would be Medic.
I agree but it's the third video from "The fedora chronicles". I think it would be better to watch them in order, starting with Operation 2fort, The bolted behemoth, and then Live and let spy.

As for Engi, I never read the comics or anything, but I guess I could sort of see how he might have a God Complex. It's definitely possible. If anything, I'd say Engi may be obsessive compulsive, and maybe, possibly, paranoid? But these are all just speculation unless I see more of what he's like.
and I love every single one of em because of it
It's crazy to see an very old game like tf2 receive so much attraction online still, and honestly still be fun as ever! Keep up the great work man.
the thibng you need to understand about the tf2 team is that they are all insane on some level other like heavy medic and pyro just show it off a little more than the other mercenaries do
most of them are pretty mentally ill or otherwise fucked to some extent, yeah.
@TheInsanity556 soldier stoped in 1949 after learning the war had been over before he went on a killing spree
Tbh engi, scout and demo are less insane then the other mercenaries but they can hide it somewhat better then the rest of the mercenaries can
I still don't know why Valve bothered to make such diverse character with unique traits and personality and not make any series outside their comics which has been left hanging for 2 years now
I guess the dev team really loved their game and decided to love their characters just as much
Expiration date was the pilot for an adult swim series, but the deal didn’t go through
For 6 years now :(
This is very very unique most people watch meet the team first than watch expiration
Rewatching all the meet the team videos just reminded me how amazing they all are and how no game has ever come close to their quality
One sign of how good they are is because of how often you can find people quoting the characters.
It says a lot about how memorable they are.
React to "End of the Line" SFM, please)
You’re literally one of the only reactions that I found who didn’t talk over and miss the “Spy head” joke
Don't forget to watch "Mann vs Machine", It's an official trailer too.
"Ribs grow back! (No zey don't.)"
(immediately grows Heavy's ribs back with ray)
Fun Fact: Heavy has PhD from Russian Literature.
Pyro was my DUDE (though it may actually be a girl XD)! Always played as him and waited for so long for his short to come out and I Was NOT disappointed! Loved rewatching these after all this time! Great reaction as ever!! :)
I think the mystery of what pyro really is, is great.
leroy shankins pyro’s face has been revealed in the files, he looks kinda Mexican/Asian
Dude can mean both male and female
Fun fact at 8:53, he said "They got more fucking monster in loch ness lake than they got the likes of me" or something like that.
The spy, medic and pyro one still gives me goosebumps
Yeah those three are the best clips
TF2 is one of my favourite games of all time. Absolutely loved it during Uni, played a ton with my friends. Will have to go back to it one day!
My favourite character to play was always the Pyro, but the best "Meet The..." was probably the Medic's! Such good memories of that game :') glad to see you checking it out.
LMAO was not expecting this such a legendary game.
You can't imagine how much i was smiling while watching the vid.
I'm watching this video right now while checking the comment section. Everytime I watch the "Meet the Team" videos, it always brings a smile to my face. Seeing other people reacting to these amazing videos just makes me so happy. I'll never get tired from TF2, the characters are so loveable.
some TF2 trivia:
-The game is set in 1968.
Team Fortress 2 has SO MUCH PERSONALITY! The most amazing job Valve has EVER done.
Never seen this channel but he sounds 20 but looks 40 and I'm confused
Thank you?
@@DeanBarryStuff I think he means you're young at heart
@@GlitchBunn what that gentleman over there said
I dunno how i missed this.
So cool seeing someone who’s never seen these awesome animations before experience them for the first time.
I remember back when each of these came out... The guys at ValvE did a superb job with this, honestly. Brings me back the fondest memories I got of a game.
Funfact: under the right circumstances ribs can in fact grow back.
Fun fact about soldier. He slowly becomes more and more stupid in TF2 canon due to lead poisoning in teufort.
Spy is definitely my favorite. He has the mysterious, sophisticated vibe I like in characters.
Meet the spy and meet the pyro are the best to me, because of the memes from them. Meet the medic is really funny too, but it doesn't have the meme potential of "I fear no man but that thing, it scares me".
Meet the medic gives me goosebumps every time as a medic main
Oh my god, the mad lad actually did it! I was honestly starting to think that he fooled me haha
A german burned alive in the bulding with fire wait...

Dear good
There’s more
This brings me wayyy back when i first watched these meet the team videos, revisiting them like this has been a great experience.
Another fun fact: in Russian literature, bullet is the dumbest thing that ever existed.
Basically, heavy has yet to meet someone smart.
Savage
Now we gotta show you the TF2 Story Comic dubs by Ben Paddock
If you're wondering how the Blue Spy's head wound up still alive in the Medic's fridge, watch "Meet the Medic - Outtakes." It was Valve's first shot at introducing the Medic but wound up scrapping the idea & went with what we see here.
But that earlier scenario is still Lore Canon & we see a bit of that here.
The Demoman was not cursing when his speech was getting bleeped out...He was drunkenly revealing truth about the Loch Ness Monster that the government didn't want to be said to everyone.
The idea of people having not seen these before is so strange to me.
I showed the Meet the Team videos to two of my friends few days ago (they aren't even into gaming and they didn't know what TF2 was about) and ever since, they've been fangirling and they keep spamming me with TF2 stuff. We're having a great time talking about TF2 and its characters. :)
Wow, forgot I wrote this 7 months ago. Time flies pretty fast! Me and my friends are still talking about TF2 everyday haha, we're having a lot of fun.
@@eatpant4ever well you wrote that 4 months ago!
@@pofromteletubbies1243 One year now. My friends and I are still huge TF2 fans.
Man, those "Meet the..." shorts are still pure joy to watch, TF2 is truly something else
Demoman is my favorite, love The accent and attitude
me too
It's a terrible Scottish accent.
@cooley
I am.
A lot of TF2 videos are unofficial made by fans on source Filmmaker.
Jungle Inferno and the Mann vs Machine cinematic are some other official ones you might like
And thus a Scout main is born
I just noticed in the Meet the Spy video, BLU Scout is holding the butterfly knife by the safe handle when he drops the obviously SINGLE-EDGED blade after it "cuts him"
TF2 characters all have insane energy, if you want to work in a field where you may literally not see the next sunrise, pick these guys as your battle buddies.
When a scout gibs, he has a chance to release a pigeon in refernce to this
My personal favorite is meet the medic, partly because I read this really sad 4chan green text story about someone playing medic and a 'special' guy playing the heavy.
Oh, that one was sad...
welcome to the team barry
I couldnt choose between the medic and the spy for the madness and the class.
He said "Which one is your favorite?" right before my favorite class and segment started.
There will never be another game with characters or production like tf2. It was truly the peak of what a game had potential to be.
aaah the good old heavy+medic combo
I've only just realised the blu Spy's head is in Medic's fridge because Soldier shot his head off, and Medic made a replacement head. How've I never put that together before?
My favorite class in the Engineer, my favorite "‘Meet The" definitely goes to Medic.
Pyro's mask is secretly a scp
This game stills a timeless master piece
Nowadays, people can cherish Team Fortress 2 in memes....
Heavy crazy he said
He’s the best and craziest he said
Pyro: I’m gonna stop you right there
Medic: I’m gonna stop you guys right there
Pyro isn't crazy... the pyros goggles do that... as seen in game with the pyrovision goggles. Medic is a psyco tho.
I’m really glad I found this channel, this dude is pretty amusing
AH YES IVE BEEN WANTING YOU TO REACT TO THIS FOR A WHILE ^_^

Bloody love this game, I only started playing it late December last year and I've been hooked ever since. Perfect characters, always loved the "Meet The" vids but had a pretty crap PC until last year.
I mean I'm generally not a fan of online multiplayer games, tried out Call of Duty and Fortnite and didn't really get into them, but this game is just perfect, not just the characters and lore, music and art style, specialized mechanics of playing as different classes and game modes, relatively well-equalized damage system, the intricacies of each map; but just the unforgettable unique experiences created by the online community.
I mean sure, they're not all great, occasionally like all online games you'll get some hate-filled rant session in the chat, people trying to hack the game, *_EVERYONE SPAMMING E WHEN I PLAY AS A MEDIC..._*
...But there are some great experiences too, I mean just recently I landed in a server with a team who kind of all sounded like good friends from uni or work or someplace, really fun-loving environment yet they took the gameplay seriously too, perfect balance of try-hard and casual, and the chat was hilarious, a heavy and medic being played by a husband and wife with both their mics on and the bantering between them was too damn funny, I wish I had recorded it.
And the other time I was in 2Fort it was a very intense match topside, 2 for 2 in Capture the flag, three spies had just been shot down in our intelligence room, and in a rare twist; I was the only Spy on my team, so it was up to me to get their intel before they got ours, there were so many soldiers, sentries and heavies on the surface, so I snuck through the sewer, there was one engie with a sentry waiting there, guarding the corner, but I managed to backstab him and sap his sentry, rare for me, usually I either backstab and get shot down by a sentry or I successfully destroy the sentry and get clonked on the head by the engie, I made my way to the, strangely unprotected, intelligence room, I saw the commotion outside and I just thought "I'm done for, I will be absolutely pulverized if I pick this up and they find out where I am."
Then out of the blue, a teammate plays _The Best Things in Life are Free_ by Sam Cooke, and I was, again, swept up with the rhythm, I grabbed that briefcase and ran upstairs, I nearly shit a brick when I saw a sentry in the top floor room, luckily there was a dispenser in front on the doorway and the sentry couldn't see me.

One thing I like about meet the spy is that when soldier is putting the code in, the 1 is worn meaning that the code is 1111.
Did anyone is going to talk about that in Meet the medic heavy said "What was noise?"?

I agree but it's the third video from "The fedora chronicles". I think it would be better to watch them in order, starting with Operation 2fort, The bolted behemoth, and then Live and let spy.
The reason soldier says that from that day forward animals together in one place is called a zoo because he thinks Sun Tzu’s name is spelt Sun Zoo
