This was my mother and father's favorite song, but it had to be performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Back in 1997 I worked with an Anesthesiologist who also happened to sing with the Choir. That year my parents came out to Utah to visit me and I was able to bring my parents to the Tabernacle at Temple Square to listen to the Choir practice. The good Doctor introduced my parents to a number of the Choir members and when it was told my parents loved this particular hymn, the Choir sang it for my parents. Many, many tears happened that day. My father fought in WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart. May the both rest in Peace in our Heavenly Father's arms.
We learn that the holy one of Israel is the keeper of the gate and employs no servant there. Your mother and father and as was mine was taken home to that God who gives us all life.
@@mrmanor101 that is why America needs to be a Christian nation! That is why patriotic sacrament services are important, not that our religion needs patriotism, but that our patriotism needs our religion. If every voter and politician made decisions on the idea that we are under a covenant to the country being more godly, this country would not be in the state it is now and will be ready to receive our King. “Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the heav’n-rescued land Praise the Pow’r that hath made and preserved us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: “In God is our trust!””
That is soright the harmony all their voices blebd together and they are praising ourGos and King the words areso uplifting experience to hear these words as they sing these words that the truth will go marching on no matter where we of His children will be.The Saviour Himself will be coming soon and we have to be ready for when that day Glory Glory towhen He sounds His trumpets to come to this earth again, these words are so inspiring to me thank you The Tabernacle choir
@@mrmanor101why is that a good thing? The songs are about Jesus and that America belonging to Jesus. Jesus is returning to America. Shouldn’t America be ready to receive him in complete devotion? The Battle Hymn of the Republic isn’t even in the patriotic section of the hymnal.
I’m so glad Tabernacle Choir posted this song today! The newsroom didn’t post anything to acknowledge the country’s birthday (maybe some of the Brethren did on their social media, I haven’t checked all of them). Happy Independence Day! Remember the reason for the holiday!
Eu acho este hino tão apoteótico, tão vibrante e cheio de vida. Fico imaginando a volta do Salvador triunfante ao som deste hino. Quem escreveu e quem canta são uma inspiração pra mim.
While I love this song and am a fan of anything the choir does, I much prefer the older versions with stronger bass voices singing the 'In the beauty of the lilies..." section. This version is no where near as impactful with the lighter, higher notes and intonations. Maybe the choir has higher voices now? I am no musical expert so anyone more qualified to answer this with some authority, please educate me. Still a very rousing patriotic song!

Thank you for sharing that. God bless you, and your parents in Heaven!
Touching story. Bless you all.

Wonderful to hear this on the fourth ❤🤍💙
It's wonderful to hear this song performed by the Tabernacle Choir.
Amazing! I love singing the patriotic hymns in sacrament meeting every year!
@@culturalhaul9759 well it’s a good thing they aren’t in the new hymn books. It’s an international church, not an American one

(And the other patriotic songs, but that seems like a longer shot)
No - it’s an international church…. Not an American one
@@mrmanor101 this song doesn’t say anything about America! The song is exclusive about Jesus!

I agree, going to find the original vinyl that I inherited from my folks.
