  • Is it the best demo on the Commodore Plus/4?
    It's definitely the best demo for the 40th birthday of our favorite computer, presented during the 25th AROK Party!
    Big thank you to all who made it possible!

    Amazing demo and great music. Some of the best I’ve ever heard on the C16 and Plus 4!!

    I find it sensational that there even is a plus/4 demo scene.

    Awesome stuff. I never knew the Plus/4 was capable of all this. Especially the Kikstart goes into Hunchback II goes into Scramble deserved a bigger applause!

    No sprites?
    No blitter?
    No SID?
    No problem! Plus/4's potential is finally being realized. And this hardware has even more left in it to give. Did you know that the Commodore Plus/4, respectively the TED family to which it belongs was the first ever system on a chip, the so-called "SoC"?

    • @C64Lover
      @C64Lover 2 місяці тому

      Bullshit about that soc, you can tell the same that vic or vic-ii is soc... It would be soc if 6502 would be integrated with ted in one chip

      @@C64Lover that statement comes from Dave Hynie, the engineer who designed the TED, and over the years researching computer history (which is one of my passions and hobbies) I have found no evidence which contradicts that claim. The SoC doesn't have to include the CPU, it can, by definition, include multiple components, which in the TED it does. If I were you, I'd be very careful calling bullshit on anything I write. For instance, you've just called bullshit on what Dave Haynie said. Do you really have evidence to support your statement and contradict what the guy who designed the TED and worked on the Commodore64, Commodore 128 and the Amiga says?

      @@AnnatarTheMaia Dave while being authority is not an oracle, in vic20 you have audio onchip and in c128 you have vic2e with 8bit bidir port like in ted and nobody call that soc, be serious. Soc is commonly associated with stuff like 8051 otherwise you would call 6510 soc in commodore max in 1981, because it is essentially 6502+tristatebus (at least 3 ttl chips) and bidir parallel port integrated.

    A shame the TED family of machines didnt have a SID.

    • @ArneChristianRosenfeldt
      @ArneChristianRosenfeldt 2 місяці тому

      SID has needs more area for sound alone than TED needs for video, audio, timers, and IO.

    • @mbosschaart
      @mbosschaart 2 місяці тому

      @@ArneChristianRosenfeldt Yes, I know that. Its the sound quality I was referring to.

    • @ArneChristianRosenfeldt
      @ArneChristianRosenfeldt 2 місяці тому

      @@mbosschaart ah, I thought complex effects. The SID sits too close to some video circuit. So for better quality a gate to clamp the pulses to a stable height and on stable clock edges close to the RCA sockets would be better. Others put sound on the CPU .. less noise? Also I did not quite understand how a computer outputs a signal around 0V. Or is a speaker floating? So we output a balanced signal? Just for low quality sound it feels so weird to output a square wave. So I rather would Output an S wave. 0 + 2V -2V 0 . C64 would generate negative voltage instead of the +12 V .

    That would have been a killer app,kickstart/ punchy and scramble in 1 game......why not throw a touch of firebirds thrust to give it some extra action
