    I realized after editing this video that all my examples were UA-cam channels, but if you want to build passive income these days, there’s a lot of other ways to do it. You can start a blog, podcast, write an ebook, teach an online course, write an app, sell physical/digital products with e-commerce, and more! Can you think of any other ideas for an online business?

    • @Bored00m
      @Bored00m 2 роки тому +1

      how are those passive?

    • @TimKoa
      @TimKoa  2 роки тому +16

      @@uhhTabby maybe I don’t! I define passive income as income earned where inputs are disconnected from your outputs. For example, you make a UA-cam video once and you gain Adsense on that video forever, you write a book once and you gain sales income on that book forever, you write an app once and you sell it on your website forever.
      Once the work is done upfront, income earned is passive. 1 hour of work doesn’t equal 1 hour of income anymore. How do you define passive income?

    Man, you are the type of person that I would want to be really good friends with irl.
    You’re well-spoken, a good thinker, and an engaging teacher. I appreciate your videos more than you know.
    I quit my soul-sucking job and dove headfirst into the scary world of being self-employed, and upon discovering your videos I found the courage to start my own side hustles.
    Please keep doing what you’re doing. Your shared knowledge may be a huge blessing for more people than just myself.

      I quit my Job too. I’m a developer & want to sell my stuff digitally. Also, I want to sell stickers. I followed his advice for a tank printer & a silhouette cutter. The first stickers I gave my daughter she sold them for a few dollars so, she’s got the right idea lol 😂

    Thanks for this video and the suggestions.... I totally agree with the Passive Income idea... my goal is to have all my income made from the internet so that I can "work" from anywhere and not trade my time for money.... We can definitely do it with the internet... what a magical time we live in.

    I really appreciate the unpretentious way you share wisdom. The opportunities available since the advent of the internet are amazing and still underestimated by a lot of folks. When I graduated from college 30 years ago and wanted to make a living as a freelance artist, it was very uncomfortable for my well-meaning parents and grandparents. That's still true today I'm sure, even though there are more ways than ever to make a good living without sitting in a corporate cubicle! Thanks Tim.

    Yes the internet can make you $ if you know how it works. Not just UA-cam but you’re right about blog, classes, even crafting virtual zoom classes because people want to hang out with each other while crafting. I got asked to do virtual classes but I’m not sure how to go about it yet. Maybe in the future because I still want to build a bit of following first and decided what I can teach.

    Dude, you're literally MY inspiration
    I'm about to reach my 20s
    I never had a job because of my crippling anxiety. I'm not going to college as the only thing I would've done is get a major in art and that will just be an expensive coaster ( Sorry for offending art students :< )
    I thought being successful means being a doctor, living in the riches neighborhood with the biggest house. I felt hopeless, but seeing these sticker shop videos and your videos especially, had me start thinking big. I started flipping stuff and I was able to get the materials I needed to start my business. I felt happy, I don't have to waste hours of my life doing something I hate just for money.
    Even if I don't become the next Tesla or Apple, that never mattered to me in the first place. I get to sell my art and do what I love. It brings me joy thinking of having my product on someone's phone case or cup.
    I really just want to thank you so much, I would've gone with the route of working at a 9-5.

    Wow! Hit home on so many levels. I have definitely found that I am an emotional spender. I tend to think an object is going to make me happier or more fulfilled. Your example was perfect. I would love to share things on UA-cam to help my business, but being an introvert stops me in my tracks. I’d love to hear your advice for even starting a UA-cam channel and if you have reservations, how do you get over them? Is it just confidence?

  • @itsmapleman
    @itsmapleman 2 роки тому +9

    I've been thinking about that part where you really want something and you save up for it and when you finally buy it and have it in your hands it doesn't bring any fulfillment or happiness. What if happiness actually comes from the effort we put in and the desire to achieve said goal? What if instead of actually spending the money we've saved up for said goal, we save it for an even bigger goal and so on and so forth? Maybe make a list of things we think we need and once we have money for it we put a check mark on it and be satisfied at that then work on the others in the list. Could make for a good experiment. 🤔

    • @TimKoa
      @TimKoa  2 роки тому +4

      I’ve found that as I’ve gotten older, physical things just don’t bring me happiness. It’s hard to do, but I have to keep reminding myself of this every time I want to buy something. I don’t remember where I read it, but the quote “Not wanting something is as good as having it” is true in so many ways.

    While I agree that spending money does not create happiness, it CAN reduce unhappiness. I call it Strategic Spending. Example: all my measuring cups are now silicone and collapsible. This means that they don't take up as much space, the sizes won't fade (they're also silicone), and they shouldn't break. Second example: my spray mop is Rubbermaid brand. It is wider than the Swiffer brand, the bottles are refillable, and the spray trigger is higher quality. Spending just to spend is ridiculous, but it is important to know what matters to you in a product so you can get a version that suits you best. Sometimes that means spending a little more than you'd want, but saving for a better product is smarter than paying for a cheap quality one. (But hey, if you can find an inexpensive version of a quality product, that's great!

      @michaeldiaz4285 2 роки тому

      It’s replaced with a graph that shows just a total of combined ad views or clicks. This is terrible.
      You need to make a video about how Etsy removed phone support for Sellers and now also Buyers.
      It’s great to make these videos but maybe about other platforms also. A lot of people get burned by Etsy.

    Love you channel, great advices, i wish italy could gave us those same opportunity.. This is why US is Us… and why Italy keep wasting talent .. maybe i’m wrong but it look like anybody can ‘’dig themself out a bad financial situation’’ just being motivated in the us.. starting your own business with almost no investment if you can be smart enough , and THEN pay taxes base on what you earn… here we must to ‘ pre-pay taxes’ in some way just to be aloud to sell.. no matter what you sell, it will cost you 1000’s and 1000 of euros for 1 year,and you must do that before you start the business to follow the law correctly, no matter if you earn a cent or nothing, you have to pay … we appear too often lazy.. but we are just trapped as slaves under too many politicians, if you have been born among the poor here, you can only born poor and die poorer .

      @Profs. Kauser mining takes lots of knowledge and experience to earn good profits, I made £82,000 from both mining and different strategies of trading. Although I don't trade on my own; I trade with help from a professional broker *Sir.* *Nicholas* *merten*
