    I've had a Permobil M300 HD for five years now. My insurance is paying for a new chair and I am going for this one again. I love it! Very little repairs and such. With regular maintenence this chair is still in good nick.

    A good little video. Thankfully I already knew about this and for that matter most wheelchairs have one of these menu's regardless of brand. You normally just have to try every combination of pressed keys to find it. That is how I found this menu.

    Thank you for this video. When my chair was dropped off I didn't get much instruction. I just had the 4+ manuals to read! I am more of a visual learner so watching your videos was very helpful.😊

      Seriously? They dropped it off without any instructions? No occupational therapist and tech to help you and to ensure the chair meets your needs/ Yikes! Here in Ontario, chairs are delivered to the shop and the tech, salesperson and an occupational therapist bring it to you and help you get started. They also come by in a month to see if everything's ok. I am sorry that you don't get the assistance you deserve.

    Cool vid. I'm sure it's helpful to many ppl. The time just changed here and I didn't want it confusing my sis. I'm not sure of the model of her chair but the LED screen, the little control panel on hers doesn't have speed buttons, it has a switch, but there are 4 oval shaped buttons around the screen part, and the top left one is the one you press and hold to access the settings menu.

      its always good to check the wiring, and connections on everything.. sometimes the cables come loose from the main controller on the power base.. also flipping the brake levers a few times can make sure there isnt dirt in the contacts etc.. other than that, there isnt much else to fail.. except the brake coils themselves

    Howdy, I use a Permobile 350 and raised my chair to reach something, now my chair is stuck on turtle mode after I ‘lowered’ it. Can anyone offer any suggestions to remove this restrictive mode that won’t go off duty? I don’t have the same wiring as the 300 I saw posted. When I tried to get inside (back up my ramp), I am slower than a worm. No exaggeration. I had to wait until a neighbor came home and saw me in my chair just sitting on my ramp and asked was I ok. I wasn’t. I put the chair on manual and he pushed (very heavy and he lifts weights) to get me up my ramp. I haven’t been able to use it in my home since, I just crawl & drag stuff now.
    This chair is useless. I have plenty of crazy stories from this 350 Permobile but I need the help with ‘turtle model’ first. The process of changing modes, lowering/raising hasn’t worked.
    For later reading, more crazy stories if interested -
    When it was first delivered to me by The ‘store’ after a 2-year wait (the PT finally acknowledged that he lost my approval prescription paperwork , evaluation results, meeting notes, etc. ) so he hadn’t ordered anything all that time. They required me to get retested, evaluated etc all over again for another prescription. Let alone I had a different insurance company, it was a mess.
    When it was delivered, both footplates would hit the two front tires and chunks of rubber were already pryed out of the tires edges. The wheelchair cushion had a hole in it and there was no plastic covering the cushion (it had obviously been used). I complained to the delivery guys and they said they couldn’t take any of it back. I later used a bed pillow. I kept the 350 parked in my home for a year because I couldn’t use it. After they stopped responding to my requests - telling me they were working on getting new tires and had researched, but that Permobile didn’t have a fix for it and I’d have to keep my chair elevated and the legs extended to avoid additional chunks of rubber being knocked off. At first it caused me to not be able to use my Chrysler mini van because it was too small for my ‘extended’ chair, I have a new van since. So now the chunked areas are almost even with my flat bald tires since it been 8 years and I have no tread.
    Last year one of the footplates broke off across the middle of the plate as I was putting my foot down on it. I imagine it would be considered metal fatigue?? I had to unscrew the back bottom of the footplate off to avoid cutting my ankle - after it knicked me a few times. Yep, I now put both feet on one plate. So just a couple of crazy issues and experiences with this chair. I dread ever going through the process these days. I don’t have the willpower to go through the insurance and rehab, therapists, stores, etc. a the process. I’m 62 and just waiting to ‘be taken’.
    Ok, so thanks for the help with turtle mode and for listening to my sagas. Happy 2024 to you all.

    I like the OBP menu 😁. Permobil locks it out, but my (about to be stripped for parts) Quickie has it enabled. Can brick the chair if you don't RTFM first. But great for when you need to adjust your profile for operating conditions. Will be interesting if I get a Bounder with R-Net. If I am stuck with a NuMotion Quantum 4Front build, I found out that Pride *does know* how to install R-Net instead of their watchdog nonsense.

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  3 роки тому

      yes!! quickie was one of the few brands that occasionally ships with OBP enabled! - if i HAD to keep my 4Front i would DEFINITELY R-net swap it.. and also swap out the brakes for something that's appropriately sized.. I'm going to be checking out the new bounders soon - (the version with the LINX controls) from day one i've wanted to try R-net on a bounder! - btw - do you get many 'traction control' errors on your 4front?

    • @brianbrwa
      @brianbrwa 3 роки тому

      @@TotallyNormal- I don't have one (yet), but I know with the issues you have with the drivetrain I would look at it with a very cautious eye. I actually told my doctor to instruct NuMotion to select the Q700m or a Bounder 300+. The plus package is something I don't necessarily want, but I prefer the ST3. I could theoretically have them take the plus hardware on my backup chair (I have a ue1e programmer that is useless for my ue1h controller, buyer beware on ebay 🤐) and install it on my theoretical new primary chair, but I am feeling like it'd be better to keep my backup intact and use the primary chair (ST4) for trips to Seattle (hills in a Bounder Plus, the struggle is real!)

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  3 роки тому

      all very good points!! something to look out for on the new QM-/Q (quickie) series chairs... some of them have a forward movement timeout.. after 1-3 min ish (or something like that) they make you let go of the joystick to keep moving forward!! apparently someones joystick got caught up on a table in a restaurant and the chair went all crazy - so the lawyers forced them to put movement timeouts on the joysticks now!! to my understanding, they can be defeated in programming though...

      depends on how the chair is programmed. most R-net chairs can have up to 5 profiles setup - but not all manufacturers do that. a lot of chairs ship with only 2 speed profiles. usually the highest number profile (2 in your case) have the settings turned up most of the way. the labels, and profile numbers have nothing to do with how fast the chair can go.. they're just 'containers' for different groups of settings depending on where you're running around. a chair could be tuned so that profile 1 is the fastest.. just depends on how it was setup originally. hopefully this helps!

    Regarding that off-road chair, you mentioned… I can attest to the fact that if your chair is not an off-road chair, you will not fare well on a level grassed lawn. Thin tires and normal tire tread for hard top surface (no knobbies) is a recipe for disaster.

I know that it would be nice if these wheelchairs could send in real-time different error codes and any info that your chair is dong to your phone? Also, it would be nice if you could go into your phone and in real time you could change some of these settings much easier than having to go through the blocky menus on the Joice stick. If a person could create different trips and name them plus if there was a feature where it could use your Google Maps and allow you to share your location on a single basis. It would allow a person to know if you got home after an event safely. If your phone could track the mileage and if your chair went up or downhill etc this would be helpful when you need to report a problem to the wheelchair shop on the spot.

    Dangerous Question #1: If I remove a Monochrome Joystick and configure the chair with a color joystick so it has clock settings, an odometer, or other features that monochrome does not allow me to set and save those settings, will they still be displayed if a monochrome joystick is reinstalled? Or are those features unique to the color joystick? It sounds like there is a chip in the joystick that sets things up but is that where the configuration is stored after its configured? Thank you for these instructional videos :-) :-) :-)

    Hey thanks for the tips, I was able to change my screen to while instead of blue which for me is far easier to see and reset the time on my Permobil C 300.
    I have a question for you, if you don't mind. We have a Kia Sedona that we use to transport my chair in. So I have to get out of my chair and my husband puts the backrest down and with the help of some alloy ramps loads the chair into the back of the Sedona, to transport. I noticed recently that my old Quickie Pulse has the same control as my P C300 with the same wiring as my C 300. So I wondered to make it easier for my husband to get the wheelchair into the car could I just unplug the control of my old chair and plug it into the back of my new chair to make it easier for my husband to load and unload the C300 into the back of the car? Would it do any harm considering the old controller was from a completely different chair. Or would it need a new program or something to get rid of any old information out of it ?
    Also, when I purchased my C300 many years ago It had the separate set of button's that control the different seat functions controlling them but I said I would rather control all the functions from the one controller. So although the set of button is still wired and in the same place they have been switched off. I am having some neurosurgery soon that will stop my whole C spine (neck) from moving at all. With that in mind I would love to be able to have the use of those separate buttons again. Do you happen to know how to restart those buttons again?
    Thanks in advance.

      hey! so i actually tried this out just now on my F3, and it seemed to work!! when you connect new things to the R-Net wiring, it auto detects the new hardware, then when you power it on, after 20-30 seconds, it will prompt you to turn the chair off. then just count to 10, and power it back on, and the new hardware should work. it seems like whichever joystick you power on the chair with, is the one that will be able to control it. cool! i didnt think this would work, but it seems to!

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  4 роки тому +1

      hey! so the different profiles are essentially different drive styles.. they have different acceleration rates, turning rates etc.. and within each profile, you can adjust the overall speed of that profile with the + / - buttons. for example.. i have a profile that's setup for running around outside with maximum acceleration speeds,and fast turning / maneuvering. then a separate profile that's a lot less aggressive for indoor use, and is overall slower speeds and acceleration rates
      for most people 2 profiles are all you need. one indoor and one outdoor.
      the mode button switches between functions on the chair.. driving around, adjusting the seating, and sometimes other options like bluetooth etc..
      usually hitting the mode button will get ya back to the main driving screen, then ya can move around. (might have to push it more than once depending on how chair is setup)
      hopefully some of that helps a little :^)

      @TotallyNormal-  7 років тому +1

      +muzzleray it's called a programming dongle - connects to the R-Net cable on the side, or back of the chair, and then connect to a PC via USB - these are available on eBay.. however the handheld programmers that most dealers have simply plug into the charging port on the joystick (XLR connector) these are the easiest method of adjusting speeds and limits etc

    • @Joablo
      @Joablo 6 років тому +1

      The only slight thing I might add to that answer, is that the 'handheld programmer' you mentioned, is called the 'Diagnostic Test Tool' and it connects to multiple joystick systems made by PG Drives. However when you connect the DTT to an R-Net joystick, you don't connect it to the charging port (Neutrik) but rather in-line to the R-Net control system between the joystick, the same as you do with the R-Net Programming Dongle.
      You do however use either the charging port or a 'Molex 4-Way connector' when you it's connected to other joystick types.

      @TotallyNormal-  4 роки тому

      theres some of the older chairs that have a 'bug' which prevents the distance from showing up on the display.. ive had a couple chairs with the problem.... never figured out what caused it.. but one of them magically started working after toggling the settings a bunch of times!
