Yup. Also mentioning money or the RRHOF (which has failed to induct a ton of great bands) like other commenters have doesn't change your point, which is true. And we don't know how big Flots would have become had Jason continued to lead them.
@@joeyravage4798 Those are all excellent albums, and so we do agree on their best albums... even if we don't rank them quite the same. Puppets and Justice are still my two favorite... I love the AJFA title track! I probably do rank Lightning above Kill Em All, but I love the raw production of KEA. Everything they did in the 80s is awesome!!!
These guys were so young when they lost their best friend. Justice came out almost exactly 2 years after Cliff died. The bss missing from the album is like a subconscious homage.
That's all fine and good except for that's not. Jason was even given the blessing to be their bassist by cliffs family, using cliff as a reason to justify them snubbing Jason just doesn't work.
It's absurd to hear him say this about that album because for myself and zillions of fans we consider this their hardest , darkest, most insane, and serious work. It's my favorite album ❤
Definitely it was great for its time in 1988. Everybody had a tape deck player. And honestly albums with heavy bottom end didn't Sound that great on lower priced tape deck stereo systems.. you can crank justice loud on any sytem
Justice was you guys best record and the first one i heard i think i was 11 i use to play Nintendo and jam to justice so imagine how pumped up i was 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
The album was perfect, that was the way we made it a success. Changed our life at the time and many years after too!! And yes Jason was really good and deserved so much (not at this album for reasons he already stated and we all know)
Jason was a criminally underrated and underutilized bassist. I can only imagine how much more Metallica's music would have been if they hadn't stifled Jason's contributions. I miss Jason 😞
There are some remixes of the album that bring Jason’s bass level up to match the volume normalization of the guitars. Look for “and justice for Jason”.
Yeah… You could hear SO MUCH more than under uhhh… “normal” conditions!!😐The absolute best way to enjoy music!!!🥴😊You hear stuff you’ve never heard before - or will again, unless you trip again.😵💫🤤😁
I'm surprised METALLICA never remixed this with the bass more upfront. Not only would it be ten times heavier, but I'm sure it would sell tons of copies.
Wow!!! Jason taking it on the chin!!! Dude admits he maybe should have been more vocal BUT… it was his FIRST album!!! I’ve heard “And Justice for Jason” versions of that album and Metallica should remix that album and release it!!!
That was a great album other than not hearing the bass very much. I thought musically it was total freaking genius. Bob Rock rocked in production!! But its really about preference alone.
From Jason? Definitely not. He stood up for himself and expressed displeasure in the mix on multiple occasions. Everybody involved the productions of that album is still alive. There is nothing stopping Metallica fixing the mix except themselves. Also, it's clear that Jason was not in the room when he was being removed from the mix.
I hate that they keep changing their story. First, it was just how they mixed the album... then, it was because they thought the album needed to be mixed that way... then it was an intentional dig on Newsted because he was the new guy, then it was an intentional dig on him because this, then that, then, MAKE UP YOUR GODDAMN MIND!
It's their best album...just needs bass...I would have quit if I was Jason..right there.....Jason is good but who could tell...you can't even hear it on one....he did the bass on garage days I thought it was cliff but it was Jason....was really good....no one will ever be cliff......even now we can't here the bass from rob....he was great with ozzy
Jason was too kind for Metallica and still is
Well, thanks to Metallica he become a multimillionaire...
you think without Metallica Jason would be in rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame?
Yup. Also mentioning money or the RRHOF (which has failed to induct a ton of great bands) like other commenters have doesn't change your point, which is true. And we don't know how big Flots would have become had Jason continued to lead them.
@@hallowedland XDD
@@hallowedland60 mill net worth. Not too shabby.
It's one of their best albums, arguably their best.
I'd say so
The title track is the albatross around the neck of Justice. Ride the Lightening was best followed closely by Puppets, then Kill em All.
@@joeyravage4798 Those are all excellent albums, and so we do agree on their best albums... even if we don't rank them quite the same. Puppets and Justice are still my two favorite... The last good thing they did..
Truth. It was almost like tech metal. Mathcore
The heavy drums and guitar arguably made that album so damn great in the first place
Yes but heavy bass in the equation would have made it that much more special
No arguably about it. It's definitely.
Yes bc the existed in the mix....
My 8th grade ears agree.
Yes

Literally wore my cassette out in 1989, Waited couple of yrs & then grabbed it on disc it's a classic no matter what they think. 🤘🤘
Jason has got to be the classiest, most humble dude in the business.
Puppets and Lighting were the two best albums!! Period!
And Justice for All is a masterpice
justice4all is one of my favorite albums and the best concert I've been to
It's absurd to hear him say this about that album because for myself and zillions of fans we consider this their hardest , darkest, most insane, and serious work. It's my favorite album ❤
i always loved and justice! it souds awesome
Man, that’s my favorite album.
Justice will always be my favorite album
Definitely it was great for its time in 1988. Everybody had a tape deck player. And honestly albums with heavy bottom end didn't Sound that great on lower priced tape deck stereo systems.. you can crank justice loud on any sytem
justice has heavy bottom end, just in the guitar tone.
My favorite album ever
Justice is a masterpiece just the way it is. And I have been a professional bass player for 30 years.
Amazing album
Justice was you guys best record and the first one i heard i think i was 11 i use to play Nintendo and jam to justice so imagine how pumped up i was 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Justice is my fav album.
The album was perfect, that was the way we made it a success. Changed our life at the time and many years after too!! And yes Jason was really good and deserved so much (not at this album for reasons he already stated and we all know)
I loved the Justice album and saw the tour that year it was absolutely incredible. But yeah more Bass, come on man!
🤘👽🤘
Dude it's the best album in the world
Justice was one of there best albums
Jason was a criminally underrated and underutilized bassist. I can only imagine how much more Metallica's music would have been if they hadn't stifled Jason's contributions.
I miss Jason 😞
Sounds like Jason is taking it a lot better than most of us here. He's a strong human being and musician.
R E S P E C T! ! !
It was one od the sickest albums so raw heavy fast and the guitar harmonys were solid
Jason is such a good dude
JASON is one Bad ASS ,LISTEN TO HIS SOLO STUFF PURE AWESOME
was a wicked album
I love that album
Would’ve been hilarious if they muted Jason when he was talking
I heard justice with Bass on UA-cam. One of the best album❤❤❤❤
it's still my favorite Metallica album..
Awsome
Justice album is so fucking good
There are some remixes of the album that bring Jason’s bass level up to match the volume normalization of the guitars. Look for “and justice for Jason”.
Hands down my favorite album.. To live is to die is beautiful
That was your best album. Hands down. Your best lyrical work. Unfortunately newsted cannot be heard.
Justice tour was my first Metallica concert, they opened with blackened & kicked ass🎸🍺👍🏾
Justice was the last batch of Cliff songs. I love that album. They all went down hill after that.
Best album of all time…
Justice was and îs verry good
Best album
I fried on acid so many times listen to this album loved it
Yeah… You could hear SO MUCH more than under uhhh… “normal” conditions!!😐The absolute best way to enjoy music!!!🥴😊You hear stuff you’ve never heard before - or will again, unless you trip again.😵💫🤤😁
Justice is the best album ever period
I'm surprised METALLICA never remixed this with the bass more upfront. Not only would it be ten times heavier, but I'm sure it would sell tons of copies.
Justice for Jason....
That’s my favourite album lol
i love the record.
And yet it’s their best album imo
It was the mix for that time... 😊
My favorite album. Dont care.
Yea it does sound all over the place but it’s perfect
Their last best album and first to hit mainstream
That was their last album for the main core fans.
JUSTICE WAS THE SHIT👊💥💥👊
I actually really like AJFA as an album, if they remastered it or whatever it’d be INSANE!!!
Fuck yeah do it.
Jason didn't have a say he wasn't in the band long enough to throw his weight around.
It should’ve just been remastered instead of talked about.
Like y’all give a fuck or nah?
We want the bass.
jason is the best man i’m pissed about what lars did and i’m sure everyone is because jason worked really hard and just for lars to turn BASS down
I like the overall sound of Ajfa.
Wow!!! Jason taking it on the chin!!! Dude admits he maybe should have been more vocal BUT… it was his FIRST album!!! I’ve heard “And Justice for Jason” versions of that album and Metallica should remix that album and release it!!!
Best album and IJDGAF!
Justice I think is their best album
Really good album. I guess James is meaning just the overall production?
And Justice… is the EMPIRE STRIKES BACK of albums.
Justice was there best album
What interview is this from?
That was a great album other than not hearing the bass very much. I thought musically it was total freaking genius. Bob Rock rocked in production!! But its really about preference alone.
It felt good and we were high as fuk !
Say what you want... That was their best mix Album. Enough bass in the E Flat :P
"I didn't stand up for myself, and for the music" is what I heard there.
It’s my favourite album… tbh when I was younger I would of had no idea about bass .. and that it was missing
“I would HAVE had no idea about bass ..”🤟🏼😎🤟🏼
Ajfa was my favorite. It was so angry and it had the biggest punch in my opinion.
Listen to the ...And Justice For Jason version of that album, where they remix the bass tracks. I like it much, much better.
Justice is killer record...
Justice the shit outa anything you have done since
Justice beats the shit outa anything they done since
Justice is their best
It was one of my favorite albums
AJFA was the last thrash album tallica made…
Hide sight is always 20.20
looking back its stil a bit fuzzy..
😂😂😂😂
The best song on the whole album is Dyers Eve. It's really apparent. 😢
And justice for all was a great album all these years later you can find a copy that has the bass restored and it's even better.. go figure
It was right...at the time.
Best album ever by them. I don't get their own opinion of themselves.
I wonder if Metallica would consider reissuing ...And Justice for All in a remixed format to up the bass in the mix.🤔🤘
Its funny they say that because and justice for all is better than every single album they put out after it combined...
Guidance brought metallicas destruction lol
I don't think I've ever heard the bass in a Thrash Metal band unless it was a bass solo.
My favorite Metallica record and really the only one I still listen to
Wow what a nice guy to take some blame for what, surely, wasn't his fault
BEST Metallica album!!!!
better than load and reload, great album
Reload is pretty decent imo
Justice was the band dealing with Cliff s death. They took it all on Jason.
The album with the bass added back in sounds so much better. Then they got BobRock and that was the end.
My Fav album to date❤
Don't knock it James it sounds fabulous
