Thank you for reminding us of Ghana's independence day. This is important information for our people also I hope it inspires us to read about Ghana and the inspirational leadership of Kwame Nkrumah whom we should all be proud of. Kwame Nkrumah said that "..all people of African descent whether they were born in Africa, The Caribbean, Europe or the Americas are African and belong to the African Nation". This mean that that those of us who are of African descent can join in the celebration of Ghana's independence because it is our independence too. This is all part of the process to seeing ourselves as one people.

I have been dancing the African rhythms since a child from Northern Soul to Afro Brazilian Cuban and Colombian Reggae and still moving at 59. The more I dance across the Afro Latino rhythm s the more I learn about my body and soul. We all come from one species the human being....the first thing we do before we even speak is connect our heart to move our bodies. There is so little African dance in my area. Far too serious and stiff. I love these women they inspire me to move and be myself in the rhythms of a culture and place I love dearly.
