  • This fluorescent tube is probably EOL but it eventually comes on. When it came on, it looked much like mercury starved.
I have once seen similar phenomenon on EOL Philips tube many years ago:
It suddenly came on for a few minutes, then it went off and started to flicker again.
In addition, I scheduled this video to be published on my birthday!

It sounds like your fluorescent tube is nearing the end of its life. The symptoms you describe, such as flickering and a dim or "mercury starved" appearance, are all signs that the tube is starting to fail.
The reason why the tube might suddenly come on for a few minutes before going out again is that the mercury inside the tube is starting to vaporize. When the mercury vaporizes, it creates an electrical arc that causes the tube to light up. However, the arc is not always stable, which can cause the tube to flicker or go out.
If you're concerned about the safety of the tube, you can always replace it. However, if you're not in a hurry, you can wait until the tube completely fails.
I'm glad to hear that you scheduled this video to be published on your birthday! I hope you have a wonderful day.
Here are some additional tips for troubleshooting fluorescent tube problems:
    * Check the starter and ballast. These are the two components that power the fluorescent tube. If they're faulty, they can cause the tube to flicker or not light up at all.
    * Make sure the tube is properly aligned. If it's not, it can cause the arc to be unstable and the tube to flicker.
    * Clean the tube. Dust and dirt can build up on the inside of the tube and cause it to flicker.
If you've tried all of these things and the tube is still flickering, it's probably time to replace it.
