When I told my parents (my husband was 43 and I was 24} my mom was supportive but my father stopped talking to me. Being very close knit usually, it was very hard for me, but I stood my ground. We got married one year later just us and a few friends. This week we celebrated 16 years married and my father views my husband with as much love as he would for his own son.

I love that you mentioned that not all age gap relationships are innocent/good and that having concerns are valid. It definitely is a shock at first but like you said once they see you together it melts away. I first saw y'all on Potter Collector's channel and I was shocked! And then i watched more of your channel and your story and I get it, even though I am an outsider, so if your friends didn't get it, well a shame and loss for them.

Sometimes couples look so mismatched it's hard to see what they see in each other. But I think anything is possible. I like a woman at work who is 35 years younger than me. I don't know what will happen but I adore her and think she is so sweet and kind and of course very smart with a high level of emotional intelligence.
My husband is 13 years older than me and I felt nervous about our relationship at first. But I got over it because I knew he was who I wanted to be with. We had a serious attraction to one another but she refused to date me because of the age gap. Since we both had mutual friends some thought it was not a good idea while others thought it was no big deal.I didn’t blame her at all and completely understand but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed. My parents had a 13 year age gap and were married for almost 52 years. They were married in 1967 only 7 months after meeting. When they met my mother was 19 and my dad was 32. My mom’s parents did not attend their wedding because my dad was divorced and had a child. About a year after marrying, my grandparents were very welcoming of my father. I’m remarried and my amazing husband is also 13 years older than me. We get along soooo well 😊

Age is just a number to show how many years someone has blessed the earth. It should define anyone and say you can't do this or you can't do that. My mom and step dad are 15 years apart and when I found out they were engaged, my mom asked me if it bothered her that he was that much older and after seeing how happy they were together, I said as long as they're happy together then I'm happy for them and would love to have him as my step dad. They've been married for almost 8 years now and he treats me and my siblings as he would his own children and I love him and love how if needed I can confide in him for anything. 😊

“You’re going to lose friends regardless of the relationship.” If this isn’t truer than true, then idk what is 😭 it’s sad but true. As a newly wed, not only did I lose one friend but two friends who I considered close. I lost one because she said I was in a different stage of life and I was going to focus on starting a family (she decided to walk away from our childhood friendship although I was still the same person) and I lost the other one who was set to be a bridesmaid a month before wedding day because my husband had proposed sooner than her current boyfriend .... childish. Everyone has a path and different timing. It was definitely hard to lose two friends but grateful to have seen their true colors. You don’t need “friends” like that 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I love seeing people with a healthy age gap relationship like my fiancé and me! We also have a 30 year age gap, I’m 30 & he’s 60 (soon to be 61), and neither of us have been happier! It hasn’t been easy telling friends and family, my family has been more open to it than his, but all that matters to us is that we are happy and in love.

My brother and sister in law have almost a 20 year gap. And we said as long as you love her, she makes you happy and you don't want to live without out her, then we will support you. Not that we wouldn't of anyway. They celebrated their 25th anniversary last year and have 2 beautiful children, and my nephew and his wife is about to make me a great auntie yet again! I'm so glad you mentioned the potential negative situations of an age gap. I'll be honest, when I was 20, I got really into alcohol and that's all I cared about. So I decided to be with a 40 year old because I knew he could provide me with alcohol because I wasnt old enough to buy it. And this guy turned out to have a girlfriend out of state. 😬 I don't regret things in life but I'm absolutely not proud of that.
Mindy has only been doing UA-cam for 3 years. So to make that type of money when her subs haven't reached a quarter of a million yet is pretty darn good. And let's say she becomes really famous. Harder for her to go out without getting recognized all the time.
As Mindy said in her story post a few months back, introducing Larry to the world changed everything. And I loved it. Around October 2018 or more than a year since she first started her channel. I loved the build up for it. We saw Larry in the background walking through Universal Studios but he was still a mystery. Then bam! Time to unveil him.
I've heard this love story over and over and I really don't mind hearing it again and again to tell a new audience. It's like Michael Jordan. I know his story. I had all his documentaries on DVD and watched them over and over. Even when I was watching The Last Dance, I didn't mind hearing it all over again.

I truly agree that age is indeed just a number what matter most in the L O V E you build together. My boyfriend is 15yrs older than me.....I was 15 when I met him....after few months my parents found out and they were against our relationship...still I fought for our relationship and then with constant battles I couldn't handle the relationship....so I decided to end.....I thought I'll try to move on but I couldn't we both were so perfect for each other....I began to miss him....everyday I wished to have him back....
After 4years I decided to go back to him.....we are together now....facing the same problems (parents disagreement)....we will be marrying next year( though my parents will abandon me and will never see my face)

I love your story and your bravery! I have been with my partner going on 10 years now. He is 64 and I am 34. In the beginning, I never admitted we were together but my family started to assume. They never questioned and treat him like family. Coming out to others was different, luckily I don't have many friends lol But the one friend who, like yours, i could confide in was also so supportive. She was the person, ONLY person who i could trust with my relationship and information, unfortunately she tragically passed away unexpectedly in February :(
I've learned to not give a rat's for the most part. I DO still care what people think, like out in public. but about a month and a half ago my partner was diagnosed with cancer (my absolute worst fear 😔) and honestly it's made me feel differently about being embarrassed or ashamed or anything to that matter. He is my love and my life and people can shove it if they have anything to say. Watching your videos and your life with Larry has honestly helped me. Thank you.

Healthy relationships start in the mind. It is a good thing to discuss subjects that are very personal as this. It wasn't too long ago that the norm was arranged marriages and relationships ( yes, even in America). They were economic (business) decisions between families. Thankfully, we have progressed a bit so that relationships are voluntary decisions of the heart between two consenting mature individuals.

Love y'all! I get it. Gary, my husband and I are 21 years apart and married almost 14 years in October. He gets the senior citizen jokes and people tell me I look 12 so it's both ways. But we're happy and "real" like ya'll (no ulterior motives) and that is all that matters! Another crazy thing is the judgmental cousins or family members have been married and divorced over and over and here Gary and I all these years later still together! Time also tells a lot. Not that we have anything to prove but time does help people understand that what we have is real and true.

I see alot of comments here of couples with an age gap, I only see that the man is older . I have been with my husband for 4 years it will be 5 years in July we have a age gap of 27 years but I'm older. What do you guys think? His Mom had a hard time accepting it at first but now she cares alot for me. When people see us together they dont think it's weird because I look younger than my age I'm 58 and he looks older than his age he will be 31 in July in fact they have told us we make a nice couple.

I'm an woman and I am older then my husband. We have an 11 yr age gap. Everyone was very supportive of us. We were friends for a year or so and hesitated even dating because he was friends with my younger brother first. It actually took our friends saying "you guys like each other Just BE TOGETHER!" Been married 5 years now.
Sylvia most of the time it doesn't work when the guy is younger because guys are more sexual and visual than women also women have a biological clock and even if men say they don't want kids as they get older they do and the women is already to old to give them children. And it does happened most of the time even if the guy say he did not want kids in the begining and you want to believed them eventually he would want kids and i feel like a man gets bored faster than women.
@@bigNo13 no my husband really doesn't want kids , he has a daughter already but the ex doesn't let him have any kind of contact with her although he is responsible and pays child support. He really doesnt like kids he gets very annoyed by them ,believe it or not there are some people that dont think kids completes a family, we have all the quality time for ourselves we come and go as we please we enjoy each other's company. I have 4 kids and my youngest lives with us she is 17 so he gets to experience a bit of being a father. I also have 5 grandchildren and let me tell you, he does not have much patience with them lol although he enjoys spending time with them. I appreciate your opinion.
Being in an age gap myself. I too have heard all the comments and still do to this day. We still get the look. BUT I'm thankful his and my family and friends have stood by us the last 4 years. Then they were happy we got Married February 20 of this year.
Love continues to grow each year and every second of the days.

Thank you mindy and larry! Your video is sooo comforting to watch. I’m 25 and my boyfriend is 45, we have been together for 4 years and intend to get married. My parents have not come around, and they want to cut ties with me if i marry him. They said they can’t even take him as a “son” but rather as a brother, because he is only slightly younger. They are ashamed of my age gap relationship. I’m not sure if they will ever come around but i’m glad i’m not alone in this journey😢
Mindy and Larry y’all are my favorite UA-cam people. My boyfriend happens to be my ex-boyfriend’s step dad call me crazy on that one but he and I wanted to be with each other for four years and we finally got it, he’s 37 and I’m 23 but the hardest part was telling his step kids about it and they were not understanding however his daughter loves me so much.

My husband is 22 years older than I am (I'm male as well). So for me it was kind of like "coming out" twice, first being gay, and second being with someone so much older than myself. It was pretty tough. Luckily everyone I told were mostly pretty open and understanding, at least to my face. My family has been very accepting even though it was a bit of a struggle in the beginning, mainly with my mom who thought that maybe it was a money thing, and was worried I was being used. But once I told them that he's not making a lot of money (we're making about the same amount these days), it started to get better and better. Not that that should've been an issue, but it was something my mom honed in on for some reason, that I was doing it for money, so in my case him not making a ton of money was a good thing in this situation, lol.
It's tough because I think it comes with so many taboos attached to it, a lot of times it kind of reveals something about yourself that you may like to keep private (that you're mostly/only attracted to older or younger people), and a lot of people are just very judgmental about it I've found. As long as it's done on good terms, with people who are of age and able to make their own informed decisions about things, it shouldn't be anyone's business. But, like with most other things involving sex or relationships, it feels like everyone and their grandma needs to have an opinion about it...

You are absolutely right! Sometimes ist just a "normal" couple, I mean no gap relationship, no ex-wifes and kids but family and friends don't like the person. Simple as that. My boyfriend has a 7 years old daughter and he's divoreced so my mum doesn't like him but we already have a son together so everybody just must accept. :D you can do nothing about that. Just say "I don't care". :)
I am on a relationship of 17 years age gape..i am 24 he is 41. Since the beginning until now, we haven't felt the difference, i mean when we got to know each other and out of the blue we matched so good in different levels. I kept it a secret from EVERYONE until 1 year and a half since my best friend got to know him.

I know that there are a few disadvantages in this kind of relationship but i cant stay away from me and vice versa hahaha. In my opinion, 30 years for me is a lot i would not go for that but seeing you its so cute that it is so difficult to say a bad word or criticize you guys.

There are people with no age gap that have to be concerned with those issues. Death can happen at any age as well as being unable to reproduce. Happy 4th!

My grandfather who I was close with but passed away in 2007, he married someone 21 years younger than him which was my grandma. He was 39 and she was 18 when they got married. No big deal. Had 8 kids together.
My husband is only 7 years older than me and I got so much hate from the women on his side for being younger. Cheers to you for keeping your chin up. The haters are just insecure.
