Really like that bass! Well, I think I got the gist of it at the "record track" part. That's as much as I needed for now: 1) Add MIDI Track, 2) Add Instrument, 3) MIDI Effects = Scaler Control 2, 4) Open Scaler 2, 5) Choose Songs (or whatever), 6) Settings = Chord Duration = 4 Beats, 7) DAW Synch = On, 8) Drag chords into Pattern (s), 9) in Cubasis: Record to Track, 10) Record. That much at least gets me started. Thanks, Doug! :)
At the point where you accidentally erased the scaler instances, couldn’t you select one of the others with midi info and have scaler “learn” from them, to recover the scale and basic progression? Also, excellent presentation, this is just what I needed right now.
When I try to get record or play in cubasis it does not play scaler 2. Any idea what I need to do.? I followed your setup and nothing happens I can only play scaler when I hit play in scaler2
ive been looking for a way to do tempo changes in cubasis. can you do a tutorial on how to automate tempo changes from loopy pro to cubasis? thanks so much for your time!
Hi Doug, would the free download of Scaler, do all those intricate things you did on Cubasis 3.4 ? Thanks and a very informative tutorial. More power to you.
After Scaler 2.7 Multi Voice Out is included but I can't realize it with Cubasis 3.5 . It seems it doesn't work, or am I doing something fundamentally wrong. Has anyone already managed to do this?
By the way, I had an idea for harmonizing a melody in Scaler: start by playing a melody with Detect turned on, then use Suggest to get some chords and then choose them. One more thing, though: I need to know how to capture or copy MIDI from one app to another. Still a mystery to me....
So I’m wondering how you feel Scaler 2 compares to Progressions? I found out about Progressions first, but I’m looking at Scaler 2 as the perfect solution because it’s available for use on desktop as well. Having demoed out the two apps, do you feel like they are pretty comparable? Did you like any particular feature about one over the other? For pocket seems to be only designing for mobile right now.
@@GaryR55 Doug streamed a demo for Progressions on iPad recently, it’s kind of new. I just bought Scaler 2 for desktop today and if I really fall in love with it there I’ll also invest in the separate iPad app, as I already dl’d it and that was enough to sell me on having it in Logic. Progressions is really cool, and seems a little less organized and more free flow for exploring creativity and theory as the auto generator built into it can be given a lot of freedom and flexibility. Seems like Scaler is similar in many ways but not designed for doing super outside of the box stuff and not random. But I’m rather ignorant on both apps at the moment as I’m just learning so much about them and their competitors. Found a video yesterday that compares 4 of the major MIDI generator softwares for desktop use. 4 pockets has another sequencer app that looks interesting, Euclidean something or another.
This is a great way to see different ways of using Scaler - there's lots of techniques I had never thought of.
Thanks fella, hope your cough is doing ok...

Thanks Doug, this is very helpful! 🙏🏽👍🏽
Fantastic tutorial! Thanks
Nice little ditty. Sorry I wasn't here for the live presentation.
That was great, Doug! I managed to follow along second time around and also managed to add some drums (using Cubasis drum patterns).
Great vid Doug! Was wondering if scaler 2 latest version, will work with cubase 2?
I’m not sure, I haven’t tried it in Cubasis 2, theoretically it should work though, but don’t a take my word for it👍😊

Thanks, Garris. I'm not familiar with Progressions, so I'll have to check it out. :)

You can’t just drag and drop like on pc ?
👏🏾
I think it’s limited to 7 patterns only
...This app is over a Gig in size !....
