Dude that was a neat site you found. Love the video. Quick question, i was looking into getting one of these trailers and was wondering how this rig does in cold weather. How did the pop out material do with rain/cold? Did it insulate better/worse than expected?
Yeah, I’d say we were lucky to find it buuuut, we found out why it was available. lol. Oh there is no insulation. The tip out is canvas so it gets cold. I’ve bought some reflectex to put on the inside and it works decent.
After watching all your videos I keep coming back to this one for the 100th time because of how nice it looked there 😂….would you mind sharing where this is at. Thanks
lol. I knew it was going to get cold, but not that cold. And definitely wasn’t expecting the amount of snow that fell that night. Had to leave sooner than we planned cause I had stock tires on the truck and didn’t want to get stuck. Better prepared for this coming winter though!
We drove to a dealer in Apex, NC in Jan 2020. Paid 17k. We live in Virginia and they were $2k less than the dealers close to us. Most were going for around $18-19k when we were looking. Worth it? Yes. Haven’t used it nearly as much due to, initially the pandemic shutdown, then I schedule got hectic. Be it boondocking or campground, we love it. You do have to do some modifications if you want some comforts like on board water, hot water, toilet, sink etc. I’ve only added a water tank and a diy sink.
@@GTZ_TV thanks for your response, I appreciate I think I'll try to find one at a locale i can afford and try to move on it. I appreciate you very much thank you for the video and your response.
Yes we are. Was gone for most of 2022 so we didn’t use it. But we’ve gone out once already this year and going out again next week. The dogs love it because they can hang out inside if it’s too hot outside. If you plan to travel, park at a campground, but also go out and explore without the dogs, then it’s worth it. We ride motorcycles so that was our main focus on getting the explore. We can leave the dogs with AC or heat, and go out riding for a few hours.
Hey man, great video. I think I watched it 15 times already lol. I was really considering buying this same camper and was wondering if you still had it and if there’s any advice you might give. I’m in VA also and watched some of your other videos as well so I’ll be keeping up with you and your adventures. Does everything work great on it?
Lol. Thanks for watching! Yeah we still have it, although our schedules kept us from exploring much this year. I’ve changed a few things but overall it’s a great trailer. Check out the Facebook page. There are a lot of owners who show off their mods and get ideas from others.
Nice! I was watching your other video last night on the lithium install and found this one. (I pulled the trigger on lithium, what a rabbit hole).. looks like you guys had fun in the snow, like the little explore badge at the bottom! Was curious if you worried about freezing the battery at all, and it looks like you have a freezer cozy on the dometic. You should make a video on your mods man, you've made quite a few. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
I honestly didn’t think about the lithium freezing. I saw you talking about it on the Intech page and now I need to research. We’ve never camped in the cold with it so it never crossed my mind. However, my GoPro batteries were dying fast so that should’ve clued me in. Depending on how I decide to run the diesel heater, I may move the battery to the inside and set it on top of the counter. I plan to do a mod video. Just need to write everything down so I remember what to talk about. Thanks for watching!
On my Propex heater I’m going to just put a screen over it and cut two holes for air to get sucked in the compartment and that should keep it warmer. Great video. Oh and I’ll definitely keep extra rope to tie my awning up like you did. Good improvising!
Watching all your videos as I looking at getting a Discover. I see the buddy heater being used for the boondocking and had a question on it. How is the condensation in the trailer with it on? Are you just cracking one of the windows for ventilation? Also are you using the 20lb tank for it and what it's usage? Great videos
I only used the buddy heater until we went to bed. Didn't leave it on overnight because we didn't want to chance a fire. Especially with the dogs crawling around. We do leave the Max Fan vent open semi-open while we use the heater. And yes, it will cause condensation. We have our mattress wrapped in a protective cover to help some but others have put down a mat under the mattress to help. I have a 20lb and it lasts forever!
@@ZeLogicnator5k the internal frame of the tip-out is super sturdy, so you won’t get any sag. In this video my DIY awning over the tip-out failed and we ended up with snow on the top-out. No issues there. So far we haven’t had any leaks but it is important to ensure the “skirt” around the bottom edge is down over the hard shell.
Yes. Very cold. It got down to 14 degrees. Some people use buddy heaters, others have switched to proplex, I recently got a diesel heater which blows hot dry air.
No unfortunately. We had a Mr. Buddy heater but we didn't want to leave it on overnight. I have since installed a Diesel Heater so the next winter camp out will be warm. Lol.
Just found your channel im wondering if you went with a single fold out because of no kids and if you could have bought the dual fold out would you ? I have 5 kids lol but I want a toy hauler that my 89 bronco can pull
Yes I went with single fold out because we don't have kids, plus I like that I can chill under the batwing awning. I personally wouldn't want the dual tip out because I don't have a need for it. It may be better for you though. With a single tip out you would need a tent, bunk beds, or roof top tent. Intech also has the Discover which is bigger, but I think the bed is the same size. I don't know the company names, but I have seen other toy haulers that are similar to the Intech Flyer series.

Pretty sure we were there the same time, that was the coldest camping trip we’ve ever been on. It got down to 5 degrees that weekend.

What kind of brake controller do you use?
The truck came stock with it installed.
Pretty cool, what was your guy's price range on the explorer and was it worth it for you guys?

Love your video...I'm from Virginia Beach..Which dealer did you go to buy the Flyer???🤔🤔
Thanks for watching. I drove all the way to Apex North Carolina. Got it for about 2k less than the dealers within an hr of Va Beach.

@@GTZ_TV had a follow up question. How does the tip deal with rain and snow? Any water intrusion or sagging?
