Finally, a competent player that actually reviews the guitar without a bunch of magic tricks and bullshit. Honesty and humor as well. This might be one of my favorite review channels I have come across in almost 10 years of looking at Guitar’s. Thanks so much and don’t change how you’re doing thanks man
The editing is funny and original lmao keep that up, it gives us a window into your personality and your humor which is your currency here on this platform. BTW I got my evertune equipped Jericho Guitars Fusion Walnut 7 string and the evertune has changed my life
I have this exact guitar’s little brother (MH-417) and I threw fishmans in. This is my next purchase because I want a Floyd. I keep my 7’s either a half step down or in standard thanks to your videos and classes. Good review dude.
This is the model I wanted but price right now is crazy on them lol.. in 2018 I could've got one for 1500 lol.. I hope I dig the LTD MH-1007 just as much . I'm sure it's not quite as polished but hopefully I like it. I'm very happy with my LTD GH-600 Gary Holt model I've had a few months now.
If I had to do it again, I'd get the LTD version, not ESP. As you mentioned the price on this thing was high and the LTDs play and sound just as good, IMO. And it sounds like you've got a great one!
You'll love this guitar...plays so effortlessly! I have a blog post going over the guitar in more detail here: www.jasonstallworth.com/7-string-guitar-esp-horizon-fr-7/
I love it! I've had it for over a month now. It took some time getting used to playing a 7 string guitar. But I've been using it to record my new album.
Love your reviews. My first guitar which I still own and play is an ESP E-II Eclipse that I bought 2 years ago to learn guitar. It is what a Les Paul was supposed to be but less expensive and better tone and playability.
Hey man I am considering buying one of these myself how is the upper fret access around the 24th fret? Also what would you compare the neck shape to? No stores near me have one so I can't try it out. Awesome video! Thanks man!
The neck plays effortlessly BUT I'm glad you asked the other questions about the upper frets. That 24th fret of the small E string tends to die out. That could be a set-up fix but not sure because mine is set up nicely. But that is something to be aware of so I'm glad you asked.
Hey bud. Nice review. Just subscribed. You got some killer riffs. Keep the content coming. Question....what you tune that 7th to? Or all of them actually? Thanks in advance.
I wish to get it, budget permitting :) But I would certainly swap out the 707 at the bridge with an 81-7. I prefer the brighter, crunchier tone than the 707 which is warmer and chunkier. For me, brighter pickups for the lower strings and warmer pickups when soloing on the thinner strings. It's all about balancing the tones.
Well, the next best thing, and perhaps just as good, is the ESP LTD MH-1000. I have a review on this one too man... ua-cam.com/video/4p2bLAI5mCY/v-deo.html
Renaissance Man I don’t think so. I think at some point you’re just paying for ‘custom’ but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will play better or you’ll like it better. That’s just my 2 cents man
In many ways you are just paying for ESP on the stock and the fact that its made single run on custom shop. ESP customs are great guitars no doubt about it but the cost increase for potentially very little actual playability difference is huge. So unless you really plan to capitalize on the customization and pay the dues to really make it a 1 off and set to your unique preferences; there's little point in the huge hike, because you wont be taking full advantage. The EII's like this one, are as Jason said still Japanese made. These are the best floor production model they make at their tokyo factory and have alot of bang for your buck under the hood with the Original Floyd and 7 string appointments. These guitars are excellently made. Haven't yet seen one with flaws. So unless you can reliably get hold of a Japanese custom brand here like Combat for example; you aren't going to do it better. Its one of few instruments at this price point with this specific set up and is played by some major figures here in Japan. You won't be disappointed with it. That money you save can be put to great use with further kit too.
Rainfeather Extremely great advice, thank you for that! And yeah, there’s really not much different in playability between my ESP EII (which was about $1900) than my LTD M-1000 Deluxe (which new is about $900 less!) In fact, I prefer the frets on my LTD and it actually plays a little better
Since this video, I've played some other guitars with Evertune bridges and I'm really not a fan because it hinders my lead playing. But if you're primarily a rhythm player you may like them
Hey man. Kind of a odd question, but how does this guitar work for genres other than metal? Like Rock/ alternative- lower gain music. Can it play really well with clean tones and lots of effects? OR does it just play best with heavy metal styles with high gain? Thanks.
In your honest opinion. Does an ESP E-II play or sound any better than a very high end LTD? For instance I have a 2008 LTD KH602 and a 2017 LTD KH602 Ouija natural. I haven't had the chance to play an E-II yet. I'm looking at getting an ESP E-II M-II. Thanks man!! Keep rockin!
I can't say it's better. I have LTD M-1000 Deluxe and I love the way it plays. I've recorded my first 3 albums and 1 single with that guitar, and I'll always keep it. It plays just as good as my E-II Horizon FR-7. But I do love this FR-7. It's everything I expected it to be. I'm not endorsed by ESP (not yet anyway!!...haha!!) but I've never played one I didn't like, low, mid or high end.
Yeah. I've always been an Ibanez 7 strings guy, but I had an Ltd EC-256 AHB and I was completely satisfied with that. It was perfect in every ways. So, recently I started thinking about to switch to LTDs exclusively. At least try out many of them, basically because the same reason you just wrote about: low, mid and high end esp/ltd s are all good.

Dude, thank you, I appreciate that!
Looks an awesome guitar. The ESP headstocks are great.
I'm loving it, though it took me a while to get used to 7 strings. I also have a 6 string ESP LTD M-1000 Deluxe
Jason Stallworth yeah I’ve only got one 7 string. I drop the b to A so it becomes similar to a 6 string in drop d.
Great Review! I have an ESP LTD MH17! This was my first 7-string guitar! I love it very much!
🤘

That clean demo has a really nice chord progression.
Thanks...I can't remember what I played so I'm gonna go back and listen to it!

I bet that MH 417 is a beast with the fishmans!
@@jasonstallworth I highly recommend them man. I’ve been an EMG guy for 17 years until now. Excellent voicing and clarity even in drop tunings

Awesome guitar Jason! Wha string gauge you use for the guitar? Great video!
I use 'light' which in this case I believe is 10-52

Thank you for the sub! I’m in standard tuning on everything (both 6 and 7 string guitars). It just helps keep everything simple
I wish to get it, budget permitting :) But I would certainly swap out the 707 at the bridge with an 81-7. I prefer the brighter, crunchier tone than the 707 which is warmer and chunkier. Such a nice guitar! I dont use Floyd's fpr their intended use but I like how they feel when I palm mute. Not a fan of how tonepros feel.
Yeah, I'm with you on the Floyds. I don't do anything crazy and barely use my whammy! But it's there when we wanna use it.
i am thinking about getting a 7 string...but i dont play any metal mostly punk...should be fun
No Cover Charge I think a 7 string would good for punk. It will give you another range of tones
yeah im curios how a 7 string with active emg's esp h-1007fr will sound through my voxac30 should be interesting
