Haven't seen a new video in awhile, just checking in to see if ya is ok. I'm still working on the 81 vette, got all the suspension done. Steering is new, tranny done, brakes done, exaughst all new magna flow. Working on a few leaks I found, like the o ring on the speedo cable, little things that bug ya. Next is the stripping of the interior, door removals, then fix the hinges and rehanging. Then to bodywork. But I haven't seen any thing from ya in awhile.
Chris I have an 04 c5. Just installed a ls6 intake, long tube headers, cat delete, straight piped to borla axelback exhaust, also installed a new cam 228/224 .600. I have the car running strong but at idle I get the blinking check engine light and then it latches in. I know it's due to the cam and rough idle. What should I do to resolve this ? Thanks
Hey Chris my name is Herbert I live in Georgia I’m new to the Corvette world I just purchased a 2000 C5 and changing all the fluids myself I change my rear end fluid just way you changed it on your car and I was just wondering I’ve not seen you do a radiator flush on your C5 and I was just curious about how to do one for my self any help would be very thankful
Good luck with your 2000. I’ve owned my 2000 for 12 years. Biggest pos vette I’ve owned. It’s had everything go wrong with it and only has 62k on it. It needs a harmonic balancer now. Thats gonna be $800 plus. I barely drive the car.
@@herbertricketts3428 Since you’re new to vettes you’re in for a rude awakening. I’ve owned 7 corvettes. 3 of them were c5. I only had issues with the c5s. One was 1997, one 1998 and a 2000. All of them had the same exact issues at almost the same miles. My friend just sold his 1998. He had same exact problems I had in mine. We used to laugh over it at happy hours. I can name about 13 issues. I just replaced my shifter cable this week for 2nd time since owning it. I’ve replaced the heads up display, both ac actuators, both power windows, speakers, headlight motors 2x, abs motor and now the harmonic balancer is wobbling. Believe me dude you will have them all including the rocking seats when coming to a stop or the dreaded “pull key wait 10 seconds” message on dash. Car won’t start. Abs always goes bad …The company that made them went bankrupt. They’re 1200.00-$1400 used for the c5. . I suggest you join the corvette forum and read up on these cars as everyone that owns a c5 on there had same problems I mentioned. It’s not a lemon. It’s what happens to all these cars no matter the miles and is expected for these 1997-2004s. Too late to get rid of it now. I have too much time and $$ invested now to dump it off. Ps. Wait til your key fob quits. The 1997-1999 is $15. The 2001-2004 is $15. The 2000 and only the 2000 is $100.00. Just a small example why the 2000s suck.
Hi Chris, really nice video. Wow those rockers are BIG! Q: How will you clean the water passages in the block to ensure all that bad gunk is removed? Thanks for getting back to the Callaway work.
Chris been watching your work for a long time got a question about the c5 when did you know to change the harmonic balancer I have a 01starting to feel a miss in the motor while driving not at idle would like to here what you think thanks
I ported the heads on my Callaway… interesting on Engine Masters they did a test with ported/not ported on a forced induction motor and it made almost no difference
1.they’re old as hell after siting 15 plus years. I lived in the town this car was made in east Lyme ct. This car looks like it was driven in the winter and snows with only water and no anti freeze in it so its safe to say a valve job is needed. 2. Also the valve seals will need replacing. $100 says this burns oil as the rubber seals I’m sure are no good inside the valves from sitting so long. He said in the video he was replacing them. May as well get a valve job if you have the seals out. Last time I did one it was only like $125 per head :)
Hi, Chris! Love the C5 cover in the background, I bought a similar one for my base ‘16 C7. Patiently waiting on non-Calloway content. I’ll check back in a few months and see if it’s over. Be safe!
Good to see you again.
Good to see you again, hope all is good.
Good job buddy!! Thumbs up 👍🏻 ~John
So glad to see you back on UA-cam Chris! Great job, the Callaway is going to be a significant car when done.
I don't think he'll be back anytime soon.
@@keithp115 why so?
Hey buddy. Where did you go? Hope everything is ok. Can't wait for an update on the vette.
we need more!!!!!!!!
Awesome video Criss keep up the good work..can't wait to see it done....

Thank you Chris for taking the time to show us your work and attention to detail !
I’m looking forward to seeing how to put the heads back on and cleaning the mounting surfaces.
I love your channel!! You should do 0-60 tests and make a video out of them. Like a video of just the 0-60 pulls.
Get those heads cleaned!!
Great job Chris enjoyed the video 🙂
Where ya at?? The people miss you!
Are those crazy roller rockers what Callaway installed from the factory?
Nope.
Hey Chris just checking in on you hope you're doing okay? Have not seen a new video in over 2 months?
That poor Callaway has been ridden hard and put away wet.😓
so is this show over?
Hey Chris where did you go?

Maybe it’s time to get Reid of your lemon after 12 years

He said he was getting the valve seals done and a valve job. The machine shop will do all that cleaning when he drops the heads off
👍👍👍😃

Those rocker arms are stock?
While at it do some porting on the heads. (port match) I expect you will at least clean the cilinder head. Nice job keep up the great work.
I ported the heads on my Callaway… interesting on Engine Masters they did a test with ported/not ported on a forced induction motor and it made almost no difference
Port matching does not address the pulse generated by cylinder pressures and valve action. that is why it does not work.
How much is gas in Phoenix? Here in south Louisiana around $4.34.
It looks like it blew a head gasket some time during its life???
Are you on vacation?. Seems a long time to ge t ahead job..
Chris I hope this is going well; you have not made a video n a while.
Just curious, why are you removing the Cylinder heads? Love the project. I have a c4 and c5 so have watched a lot of your stuff.
it seems like they ran the car with hard water and no antifreeze. Some water passages might have been gummed up.
He gave answer for that question in this video.

This dude alive? :(
Is this channel dead? Hope Chris is doing ok!
I have to take the cylinder head off of my C4 corvette.
Car is a nightmare, never would of bought it. Low mileage car that looks like it’s been abused and never maintained.
