Great video, and a gorgeous species of millipede! I almost started with this species years ago. Ended up keeping flamelegs instead, but someday I’ll try these too!
What an awesome and vibrant millipede! I already have some n. americanus millipedes and I’m getting some scarlet and bumblebee millipedes from a friend, but maybe in the future I’ll be able to get some of these too.
Happily, yes, but you may want to keep some of the millipedes in their own enclosure, as well. It's possible that some eggs may become lunch for your fancy isopods in the communal tank.
Never hurts to shoot me an email. ;) I've got all the products transferred over to the new website but I've got some another ten hours or so of work to put into it plus some back and forth emails with the developers. Still hoping to have it up by the end of the month but everything is just one step at a time. Thanks for asking!
In between generations on them. Just waiting for the next round of larvae to mature where we keep some for the next gen and offer up some of the extras. Thanks for your interest, B, but don't hesitate to get the cheaper larvae. They grow so quickly and are cheaper. ;)
i have thousands upon thousands of these very millipedes in our yard i don't know anything about them and i don't touch them because i am afraid they bite or are poisonous
You must live in Mozambique. If you happen to live in Florida and are seeing the mayyybe slightly similar-looking scarlet millipedes, then they are only poisonous if you eat them.
@@bugsincyberspace no i live in venezuela and believe me i don't want to eat bugs , well only escargot and sea bugs like lobster crab shrimp but not millipedes lol
This video immediately evoked a desire in me to write because of the symbolism that it represents in our current natural state. The duality of nature is what keeps us interested and at the same time a little uneasy which is neither good or bad. . The color red also has its own duality-signifying love and passion (as in the desire to own one of these Mozambique Red Fire Millipedes) while on the other side, exposing danger and destruction that recently ravaged parts of the Pacific Northwest (Oregon and Washington) and California with dangerous wildfires. The red hot sun an indication of the hazardous air quality that persisted for days on end. At a time when we are in a pandemic it is easy to get depressed and lose hope when nature has struck again, but one thing I have learned from @bugsincyberspace is that life is beautiful and we focus on that more than the negative. So, my desire is for anyone who lost everything in the wildfires is to think of their lives as a blank slate, just as Peter's plain white shirt in this video. What would you want to put on that white shirt? A new bug from @bugsincyberspace? A new design by @shapesinnature? A new vision for what your life will be after this, focusing on the possibilities of what it means to start anew, just as the bugs do! 🙂 Be the conductor in your own life just as the millipedes conduct their many legs!😉
I might refer you to Sigmund Freud, least of all because he famously said "Sometimes a millipede is just a millipede." Always fun to see you here. You always make the most of everything!
@@bugsincyberspace Ah Peter, let me raise you "A picture is worth a thousand words!" OR "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." But, most importantly, Freud coined "free association" for these instances. He said millipedes and you saw green perhaps, while I saw red and associated current events! Hi, When will it be new blacklighting video for insects? I love your vids!
It will have to wait for 2021 since we weren't able to make any trips to set up lights this year, due to travel restrictions and such.
Can these coexist happily with isopods? I have some fancy species I’d like to house with my fire reds

thanks!
For a beginner what insect do you recommend? I’ve been looking into a type of praying mantis. Some feedback would be appreciated love your work
Wont the isopods eat through millipede’s eggs?
Where do they live? I keep finding them in my house.
You are probably confusing them with scarlet millipedes in Florida. These are an African species and are not established in the US.
Is this an active species? If I get 1 for my showtank will I see it often? Is it a beginner species?
Question, where could i find these? Ive had trouble finding sellers!
me too, lately!
Oh No! Already out of stock! 😢 New website with wish lists ready yet??? I’ll be saving up for a breeding colony.
