    Ronnie's Kobe to MJ comparison was spot on. Kobe had all of MJ's moves, footwork, and mentality, but lacked the explosiveness that MJ had. He wasn't far off, but MJ's athleticism was off the charts and he had those massive hands to grip the ball like a toy.

      I was tryna tell someone the other day, that Kobe was not like, a SUPER athlete in the NBA.......yes he is super athletic compared to the average man, but like, I could name a lot of players that were more athletic IMO than Kobe, from Grant Hill, to TMac, to DRose, to Russell Westbrook, Anthony Edwards Lebron and Jordan of course, again, not that he isnt really athletic, but in NBA he's like 85th-90th percentile, the guys I mentioned are like 90 to a 100

      @@Tony-fq5bn That's why Kobe's accomplishments are so impressive. Yeah, MJ is the closest thing to perfection we've seen as a basketball player and the fact that Kobe got so close, despite his physical limitations, is why Kobe is the Black Mamba.

      hence I think for the first few years in the league, kobe somewhat struggled, he was a flashy player but lacked a lot of that MJ had, on top of it MJ came in with all the fundamentals/team bball from dean smith. It shows how hard kobe had to work, which I believe was harder than jordan to achieve not as great (but close) results.

    I did a VIDEO about Ronnie Fields a year ago! Please check it out and like! In 1995, the 2nd biggest sports act in the city was Farragut! Vince Carter ducked the smoke in the Nike 94 summer camp for a dunk off. In my video, I tried to tell goofies how cold this man was in high school. Glad All tha Smoke gave Ronnie some exposure.

    MJ was not only more athletic, he was more creative, more inuitive in the game, and above all, he was graceful with the moves and in the air.
    Compared to MJ, everything Kobe did felt forced, except a few moves he carbon-copied from Mike, namely the fade-away.

    • @davidjohnson5243
      @davidjohnson5243 3 місяці тому +1

      Exactly! I tried explaining the same thing to people. That alone can't be duplicated. That's what made MJ even more special and separated him from many. Including players today. I still haven't seen anyone yet that had MJ's gracefulness and how easy he made his moves look. Artistry and a thing of beauty.

      @@davidjohnson5243 Yes. MJ was the unequalled package, and always and forever "in the zone" - once he entered it, he never left... And now Anthony Edwards is the new MJ... Yeah right... The guy can jump out of the gym, dunk on anybody, shoot decently... but he doesn't have the moves, he's stiff, he's a piece of wood in the air... a far-cry from MJ, even when comparing them at the same age.

    Mj was SLIGHTLY more athletic and slightly bigger. The biggest difference between them was the hand size! People neglect to realize the advantage that gives players in terms of ball control in traffic. Easier to finish around the rim and less turnovers on offense and you’re able to bother players in ways other people wouldn’t on defense. Young Kobe was PLENTY explosive and athletic

    I have said this before. The reason why Kobe is often times left out of the goat convo is because he's very similar to MJ and that makes it a lot easier to compare and say that MJ is better and what makes him better is that Kobe can do whatever MJ did but on a less efficient manner because MJ is simply more athletic than Kobe. That fadeaway is harder to defend when it rises a few inches more.

      @@cycleoflife565 It’s called optics. The problem with stat guys, which I assume you are, is that you fail to consider the variables. Why do you think former players have a different take than stat guys? Because, the eye-test is superior. Not to mention, they were on the court with the players in discussion.
      Back to the argument - How is knocking a player to the ground in the 80s and 90s good defense? Answer that from a basketball SKILLS perspective.
