  • On board success with school’s NLC
As part of DepEd’s ongoing initiatives to support the learning recovery and gaps caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Cabrera-Altres National High School is seriously committed in the implementation of the National Learning Camp to ensure its immediate outcomes among learners and to strengthen the teachers’ competencies. With two camps instituted - the consolidation and enhancement, the school has amplified its efforts in engaging more students. In its power to support learning and showing commitment, the NLC implementation of the school continues to be successful following on what has been mandated.
On Program Implementation. Prior July this year, the school has disseminated an information awareness to parents and students on the conduct of NLC for Grades 7, 8, 9, and 10. It also asks support from its stakeholders for its opening last July 1, along with the participation of learning camp volunteers for the division level orientation. There were 60 learners recorded in the Attendance Tracking Tool who participated in two camps: 43 from consolidation and 17 for enhancement from Grade 7-9. To ensure that the processes of the NLC are successfully implemented, the collaborative expertise is carried out that includes planning preparation, and review of instruction every Monday and Friday.
On Learning Environment. The school ensures that rooms are ready conducive for learning with class program displayed, and available first-aid kit in the Office and rooms.
On Support for Teachers. On July 1, the learning camp volunteers supported the call of the division for an orientation of the NLC and other End-of-School Year Break activities. Plenary and breakout sessions were attended and two LCVs had their returned demonstration teaching in English and Science. To effectively reproduce also teaching resources, supplies were given. Technical assistance was also given to each teacher during collaborative expertise.
On Support for Learners. To carry out the plans of the NLC, workbooks from the Central Office are provided to each learner of Grade 7 and 8, and contextualized material is given to Grade 9. Supporting to this implementation also are the daily snacks given by the school and stakeholders. To further enrich the experiences among the learners, various daily and fun-filled activities were directed.
The NLC as a whole of the school has generated more learners compared last year with 24 campers. This story is an indication of the power of commitment and support among teachers and learners who both want holistic growth, improved interest, and character development.
