      The unique thing about 4chan is that it`s a pretty nieche board, no matter how well known, visited by a very varied and invested kind of people. And all are invested in the points that their board focus on. So you get a few hundred people, some of them a lot smarter then wise, to intensively focus on a single task. Which is going to give you quiet terrifing results. Becuase thats the exact enviroment where human swarm intelligence can be frighteningly intelligent, when most parts pull on a single rope.

    • @theexchipmunk
      @theexchipmunk Рік тому

      @@judicatorhurayth1927 If 4Chan was still what it was back then, yes. I always like to imagine these forums like decentralised computer networks. Really, any congregation of people working together. Even the antagonists that act contrarian in such an example have a function. If it’s not to many they work as kind of a safe guard against following false positives and aggregate the whole to check information als well as generate points for different lines of “thought” to originate.
      And as with networked systems we build, information points and improvements of one part are shared, checked by others and elevate the whole. Make it more “intelligent” and “competent”. (I put these in quotation marks because it’s kind of a metaphor. A group of people isn’t a self aware and “real” entity, but it can in an emergent way act like one. But in the end it’s still a group of people, but that’s why some call humanity a super organism acting on a large scale more like ants or other colony building insects than your average mammal.)
      In a group, humans can generate a whole that is super intelligent and vastly more competent than any singular human could ever be. And a group can learn, adapt and streamline processes. Within reasons obviously. While a group can mac out to at or slightly above the absolute highest a human mind could manage in theory, basically be a hyper intelligent savant in a vast area of fields, it is limited by “running on” human brains. With technology to pick up and become superhuman in some ways, it’s still limited by what the human mind can do and grasp. That is by the way what really elevates us over other animals, our unbelievable capability for sharing information, saving it long into the future, working off it and just keep accumulating and advancing it. Humans through our collective culture and cultural memory basically have lifetimes of experience, and such more skill and knowledge than an individual without backup from this system could ever dream to have and manage to experience and learn even a fraction of by themselves. Quiet the interesting topic.
      Obviously, it comes with it’s downsides, groups also reinforce biases, 4chan is a good example there too, especially in more limited and focussed groups. And human faults can get massively amplified by the “circlejerk” happening in groups. Just look at social media or historical events like witch hunts or destructive ideas and concepts floating around everywhere.
      But the tldr; version is: Yes, groups can learn and get better at stuff. And to a scary degree that at times might appear supernatural.

      Those statements are also not entirely honest. JAI has conducted terrorist attacks against civilian targets several times in the past, including rocket barrages on populated urban centers in government territory. They even hit an active hospital from what I can find. They are terrorists, there's not much to call that into question.

    • @leftwardglobe1643
      @leftwardglobe1643 Рік тому

      @@olegyurchenko4127 The Syrian government is disproportionately responsible for civilian deaths, but Russia isn't, and that's also ignoring an important aspect here: Government forces weren't using these active hospitals and populated suburbs as fighting positions, nor were they fighting out of uniform. JAI, ISIS, and the host of other rebel groups were. Which is a war crime. Hiding behind civilians in any way puts them at unnecessary risk, whether that's holding them as hostages, fighting out of uniform, or shooting at your enemy from vital infrastructure that can be used or homes that you know are still occupied. It forces your enemy to do heinous things in order to root you out and is one of the most evil things you can consciously do in war.
      When JAI hit that hospital and killed a number of civilians including children, there was no valid reason for them to do so. It wasn't occupied by enemy soldiers, it wasn't providing them aid (though even if it was that's still a war crime), there was no fighting nearby in the city that could result in an accident, etc. They simply wanted to hurt those who happened to be under government rule to weaken support for the government. This is pretty indicative of their strikes against civilian targets generally, aswell.
      I'm not going to defend anybody here, but attacking an enemy that is using civilians as a shield, thus causing collateral damage, and intentionally striking civilian targets to show the people that the government can't protect them are two very different things.
      They are not better, they are just less capable of actually causing harm to those they want to kill.
