    Jack’d Up Smoked Meatloaf gets it’s name from the insane amount of Jack going on inside! This meatloaf is insanely moist because of the Jack Daniels in the meat, ridiculously addictive because of the pepper jack cheese oozing from the middle, and unbelievably bold because of the spicy Jack Daniels sauce smothered on top. Add the subtle hints of wood smoke to the mixture and you’ve got a meatloaf worth eating.

    I made a slightly simplified version of your recipe (basic meatloaf and no Jack Daniels) the other day and my wife and I ate the whole thing by ourselves- and it was a BIG meatloaf, lol! I love Pepper Jack Cheese, and the cheese basin- or "cheese boat" (as I called it) was a great idea. I got a bit anxious to get my thumbnail photo (lol) and didn't wait quite long enough for that cheese to firm up, but otherwise it was amazing! My video is posting next week. Thanks for another great recipe!

    OMG the most amazing flavors . I found your recipe here last summer and have made it several times , doing so again this weekend. My Hubby acts as though I made some gourmet meal and ate left overs everyday the whole week for lunch. Truly #! flavors and the smokey flavors

    fun to see this because its allmost the same as i make my burgers (more like mini meatloafs). i just add a little brown sugar to the meat because my wife is a real sweettooth

    Suzie I used Sherry instead cause I had that in the cupboard. We don’t drink Whiskey, can’t wait to try, your sauce however is delicious

    Might try mixing in some Jack Daniels bourbon barrel pellets with the hickory or oak pellets to add more bourbon flavor.

    I made this, but I substituted Sherry for the Whiskey cause we don’t keep Whiskey in the house, it was so delicious thanks so much

    I did this recipe but without the alcohol. It was delicious but it reached the temperature in about 2 1/2 hours. Although I loved the recipe, I was wondering if I should have used something to replace the Jack Daniels. Thanks

    I say "bloop" too when I plunk ground meat into a bowl. Must be a universal thing. This will be my next meat loaf.

    If you freeze the meatloaf for about 4 hours then smoke it, it will hold its shape and you can get bark on all sides. You don't have to smoke it on a pan

    I’m gonna try this BUT I’m not going to sauce it until it’s been on the smoker for an hour then brush the sauce on at the 1 hour mark then sauce again at the 2 hour mark and then sauce again at the 3 hour mark and the finished product should be even better at the 4hour completion mark.

      Pepper Jack is Monterey Jack with small bits of pepper in it. Monterey Jack is a white, semi-hard American cheese.

    Hey Susie & Todd, This isn’t meat loaf related but breakfast related. I have two children 9 & 6. What are some recipes or meals you’ve made for your kids that they enjoyed. I’m trying to add more things besides eggs, cereal, waffles/pancakes. Any advice would be appreciated.

    The only suggestion I’d throw in there is to wait until you mix everything else and add the breadcrumbs last so they don’t steal any flavor

      Not really. It's not a very good offset so it's really hard to keep control of the cook. I'll be getting a good one soon and will do lots of videos with it!

      I do a similar meatloaf, but I use smoked cheddar cheese, and I always add some cooked bacon strips into the centre along with the cheese.

    I bet it tastes great but this looks way too wet and mushy. Proper meatloaf should hold up to slicing and then you can even griddle it for extra flavour.

      You could use a cola of some sort. If you're worried about the alcohol content, all of the alcohol will actually cook out of the food just leaving behind the flavor.

    I recently cooked smoked meat loaf on my pellet grill. It turned out great. Mine firmed up which is how I liked it. Yours looked too mushy to me.

      Years ago, Justin Wilson had a cooking show, and would add wine to just about everything, including himself.
      I have cooked using different alcohols, depending on what I’m cooking, and the alcohol cooks away or evaporates, so there is actually no alcohol in the food, just flavor.

      It's all for flavor. All of the alcohol cooks out so none is left in the food.
